Status: offline 		I love snow and hot toddys at holiday time. I bake cookies galore for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. My specialty is Pumpkin Chocolate Chip. But those are Christmas only. We have so many holiday traditions. Christmas eve at my brothers house, Chicken soup and Clam Chowder in bread bowls. Then midnight mass(yes, I am catholic). The UM carried the baby Jesus up last year. Then up early for Santa presents even though we don't get to bed til 3 am. Everybody to my house for turkey and the fixings. Present time then pie time. Mom makes the most awesome sweet potato pie. I can't wait, I am so ready for it, but not yet, need to buy pressies.

Status: offline 		Hmmmmm.... I'd like to have a new saddle but I'll prolly get that before Christmas.
Can't really think of anything else right now.
I really love the holidays as well, the baking, the making, decorating and good times. I work myself to a frazzle and always fuss and swear I'm not going to do it again but I always do. I'm addicted.
I come up with things throughout the year I want to get other people but I don't write it down and by Christmas I can't think of a thing to get them.

Status: offline 		sigh. i miss the cold weather that y'all get so i can bake and really enjoy it. i always have to plot - mix during the day, bake late at night. takes a bit of the fun out of it. double sigh. my primary baking partner (oldest um) is moving up north in one direction, and i'm moving in the opposite direction. first time she won't be with me at Christmas.

um, isn't the frazzle and fuss and swearing not only part of the season, but an integral part of the addiction??

the antidote is the bikkies!!

is your equine of the human or 4 legged variety?

i really want a single tail (i am thinking a 4 foot signal whip - black and purple nylon would be perfect) just for use on me...a girl really needs her own toy bag...and single tails are my most favorite toy...and probably the most expensive to get a good one...everything else i can think of that i would want can be sanitized....oh and boots...i want a pair of Wescos...but they are even more expensive than a good single tail....

Status: offline 		I need a lighter 4 legged critter saddle. The one I ride in now is just getting too heavy to lug around.
Thankfully they make the 2 legged critter ones pretty light already!

Status: offline 		Kitten this countdown is depressing,the big build up and the after Christmas blues hit.I am the type that just grabs presents and shred them ripping the guts out is what I call it now Diane loves for everyone to sit around as she passes out gifts one by one...Whats on my Christmas list....Thats a secret between the ol' fat man and myself...smiles....bounty

sigh. how come i never found someone (other than my kids) who got great joy out of seeing MY joy at presents?

Status: offline 		I could  kitten but that would spoil my fun,She did get me once,this special knife I want for so long the brat and my brother wrapped up a dinner knife and watched with glee as I riped her open to find the dinner knife .After a long laughter at my expense they finally gave it to me....bounty

Well, you cannot expect me to keep this bloody thread alive. You know that this holiday is not one of my favorites. It's possibly the worst time of the year for me.

Status: offline 		no, i'm not sadistic, i wouldn't inflict the holidays on you if they're so painful. unless you like pain. then i think we might have to get donna or insty on you. would that change your mind on the holidays if you could spend them with insty??

or go back to the pagan beginnings of them. where they were more to do with cycles and rather more meaningful to many people.

Status: offline 		I'm not opposed to the basic meaning of the holiday. I get that. What I don't get is the obsessions and stress that people subject themselves to... the constant perfectionism...

It's not a once in a lifetime event. It happens every year. Yet, people become all stressed out with it to the point where they make themselves miserable. Sorry, but I just don't get it.

Status: offline 		imagine the riot that would be the scene if we magically got the arghanites and assorted others involved in a christmas/yule day/weekend. wow. that would just give a whole new meaning to giving, taking, gifts, food, etc etc.
