I wouldn't call what we do superior, but I will say that I have learned to communicate
tough issues more clearly and more objectively. I never found that with vanilla
relationships.

Sinergy,

Google says:

http://www.unitshifter.com/reviews/meaning_of_life.html

which says:

"Twenty years after its initial release, Monty Python's final film The Meaning of Life remains their most fragmented, and ultimately their least satisfying film. Having said that, it still definitely has some fun moments and there's far worse ways that you could
spend two hours.

The movie opens with Terry Gilliam's twenty minute short film The Crimson Permanent Assurance Company, and it's one of the film's highlights."

In 1994, the American Psychiatric Association changed its medical definition of SM in the Diagnostic and Statistic Manual (DSM 4) so that it is no longer automatically defined as a mental illness. As long as a person's SM practices don't interfere with their day-to-day life, it's considered to be a healthy form of sexual expression.

According to the 1990 Kinsey Institute New Report on Sex, released by St. Martin's Press:
"Researchers estimate that 5 percent to 10 percent of the U.S. population engages in diverse sexual practices for sexual pleasure on at least an occasional basis, with most incidents being either mild or staged activities involving no real pain or violence." That would bring the number of practitioners into the millions, with many, many more who do things like love bites or holding their lover's hands down. "Most are just like your neighbors, doctor, bus driver, even your sister or uncle. There are probably 1 in 10 people in your office who practice SM as a loving form of sexual expression.

.My final answer is my desires come from me seeing relationships more clearly.
Now, had You asked me not too long ago it would have been my desires grew from my adventurous spirit

I have though since found with each "new experience" i am seeing a more full view of whom i am. i use to think the sex act was the part i needed from a past Sir...[:@] Now with the present Sir, Oh my.. surly this one wants beyond her wildest dreams... and not the sex act...

i know this Dom truly knows my limits and do not doubt Him at all. this one once told Him all of her most important darkest secrets and wondered why did I . looking back it was i am sure a part of me was saying .. show me Sir, . And He has only began... is it no wonder i can not seek another when i found what i need in He. But does He find what He needs in me that is more important

i do worry on some issues, but know in time He will tell me. As He is going though crisis and will not be home in some time... He says days but i feel longer as it is important and i do not need to worry Him, not with what He is going though. So, i guess that i why i text Here. Yes, i helps.

Through Him i am finding part of me i did not know could or would exist.
Hmm remind me of this when this one is upset with Him.

being crazy, mostly seems to be doing things that most other people don't understand. generally if one questions one's self, one isn't crazy, just not certain.

i may be crazy, but for me it seems to work.

Jade:

Thanks for restarting this older thread--it is fun. I am adventurous. As I was growing up my sexual thoughts made me feel like I was a pervert so I compensated by being extra good on the outside. I didn't want other people to catch on. Now I embrace my thoughts and run with them[:)].

I don't know about crazy, obsessed might be a better description of me. I wouldn't characterize BDSM relationships as 'better' than vanilla ones. It depends on the participants and what they put into the relationship. Maybe BDSM relationships have such a physical side to them that you HAVE to communicate and express desires to your partner.

Life is one choice after another. Poor choices in vanilla or kink partners can lead to unhappiness and regret.

Therapists see nothing wrong with BDSM; just that it leads to risky choices.

I think it all depends on your definition of mental illness. I am certain there are mental health professionals who would see much of what I think about, fantasize over and do as unhealthy and even ill. Yet, does that make me a bad person? I hope not.
