People in BDSM SHOULD know the basic terminology before applying it to different facets of their lives. I'm sorry, but I am NOT going to let someone pick up a firewhip and try to use it on me thinking it is a flogger.

People SHOULD network with each other in order to keep information about dangerous people handy (might be a good idea to have some kind of an alert board on here, although I don't know how that could be worked out).

In this regard, I would agree the service is a positive one, if it provides people with some basic info about persons at events or persons one is contacted by from different forums.. M

The 11th Comandment is never, ever hurt a cock. (Sorry to people into cbt..no offense.) This does not sound like something that would make a Dom or Master go "OOOO, MOAN"...so i do not care what it is.

I'd actually be happier if the one doing the verifying acutally met the person face to face and put them through thier paces.

It's way to easy to beat this sytem by merely using google to look up stuff.

I stick to what I always say,"It's not real till it's real".

GentleLady -> RE: verifiedbdsm? BDSM according to *whom*? (7/6/2005 6:25:09 AM)

Gemeni

I may have read the site wrong but I thought that that was exactly what had to happen to be verified. You had to attend functions and talk to people so it could be confirmed that you were there. You had to be known in person by someone. Unfortunately all the events were located in the United States.

I'm right with you on that.

As to my 1/2 cent on the whole topic, who are these people & who made them all wise & knowing enough to verify anyone? No disrespect meant, but come on... along the lines of what Gemeni said, you got to be keepin' it real. Online verification from someone's website holds more validness as a profile on any given site.

I have been involved enough in my local communities to offer verification from respected sources if asked.

This is an aside, but now i'm curious Gloria. How do you find out background information on someone who hasn't volunteered it?

In essence they are relying on the same principal that a dom who offers and encourages a safe word/safe call is showing a great deal of trust and honor in the act itself.

This idea is flawed on many levels.

You check out the area they live in. The groups. Get the names they go by. Google them for starters.
Essentially run a criminal check on them if you want to go that far. Which I did.
One of the people who are verifying people has been charged with physical abuse twice in the past.

Good idea, have someone verify people amoung other things who aren't supposed to be dangerous when they are dangerous themselves.
That's why I always say....don't assume just because someone talks common sense here they have common sense in the real world.

If he actually did background checks on the people. Well, I don't know in reality there is a sure way of being safe it would always be one person's word against the next.
That's why people say not guilty in court even when they were watched committing a crime.

My mind still remains unchanged from the day it was put up. I feel it is a site to lure newbies in for the predators....people who have been around a while won't use it.

Considering how passionately so many people are against this, and even consider it unsafe, why hasn't anyone persuaded these people to shut it down? It's a disaster waiting to happen.

In previous times, people tried to explain their fears and worries to parties involved AAkasha.

It proved pointless.

If people have something set in their mind on doing something, no matter the possible out come, they will do it.
I only pray that something dreadful doesn't happen as a result.

Just for the sake of discussion I'll mention that this doesn't necessarily mean that the person is abusive like you'd see on COPS when they roll into the trailer park on Saturday night. Could be a neighbor heard him whipping his slave, called the cops and they found bruises so he got carted off to jail. Getting caught twice could just mean that he was stupid enough not to be more careful and it happened again.

Though really, I agree that it doesn't sound good.

Its a free country <shrug> You can't force people to agree with you, unfortunately. Then again...my owner often prefaces sentences with "when I become dictator...." so who knows what the future may hold...lol.

I believe the thread was pulled.

It was pulled by the poster, because people were asking uncomfortable questions about the site, how it could be verified if one could vouch for oneself under different screen names, and one of the owner's histories - something akin to claims of being raised in an old guard household, secret european... (sic) or such.

Well everyone knows the REAL way to verify yourself is getting a registered slave number.

That works for slaves and she is a great example of one. We have met her at Black Rose and seen her in other REAL places, as opposed to these or other "sites".

I think Taggard's idea is a good one. He has been around long enough to have made REAL contacts in this lifestyle and his service could be of great value as long as he keeps his guard up.

I know if I have a question about someone, I have people scattered all over the US that I can contact. Sir Saul in NYC for example is a great resource. Master Jack in Dallas. Let me stop. I could go on forever and I am sure Taggard could. I like the idea and I am sure Taggard would investigate any negative reports from one of his "certified" people.
