labrat18610 -> The relationship of facial hair and Mastership (8/14/2007 3:38:20 PM)

I thought I noticed that guys with facial tended to be Masters. So I did a little study of Masters who have their pics on Collarme. 60% of Masters had some form of facial hair. Of the 40% of  clean shaven Masters,  they tended to be young. 66% were under age 39. In fact, the majority is under age 26.
So my question is why do most Masters have some form of facial hair? Is facial hair a sign of dominace?
And yes, there are clean shaven Masters, but if you take away the younger Masters, only 22% are clean shaven.
And yes, it is kind of a dumb question. I'm a sub and love trying to understand the mind of a Master.

if that were the case, My husband would be kinggrandpooobahmaster.  but he's not even dominant. *S*

Perhaps it just means that older masters are too lazy to shave?

I'm clean shaven simply because I feel I look better that way. Actually, I only shave a couple times a week, so I generally have that "needs a shave" look, which is what I prefer.

Or that our time is just too damned valuable for such a mindless task! [;)]

Hi eathycouple;
I'm not saying that any guy with facial hair means that he is dominant. But why do the majority of Masters have some form of facial hair?

I have a beard because I like how it looks.  It "fits".  It has nothing to do with being a Dominant in or out of the lifestyle.

violetaelf -> RE: The relationship of facial hair and Mastership (8/14/2007 3:56:44 PM)

May be because their subs like it that way? *giggles*

Well.. I love facial hair.. especially a well maintained goatee! My Sir has one.. :)

Yey for good looking, prickly facial hair!.

P.S. Sorry.. wasn't too helpful to answer 'why' :)

I have a mustache and sometimes grow a beard in the winter, but it is and has never been a means to consciously project dominance. It is just something that I have always had ever since I was able to.

I wonder then what percentage of men overall have facial hair and if it's similar, this may be the reason many Dominant men have facial hair.

I just had some facial hair waxed off.  But then I'm not a dominant male [8D]

Uhhhhh....  do I count?

I have clean shaven photos, I have Grizzly Adams photos.

In Chile, I kept a beard.  Gretchen liked it, and it's easier to just not shave.  On top of that, wearing a beard meant the difference from being treated like a teenager, and an adult.

Lately, I've been keeping a week old beard, more or less.  Once I go back into the military, it'll be back to daily scrapings.  I've actually always liked the idea of having a slave who was skilled with a straight razor to do it though.

Honest truth... because without the mustache and beard I look like a teenager!  Which at my age is a little weird.  I wanted to look older when I was younger and at this point its just become comfortable, along with the long hair.  The current style of my beard/goatee was simply because I like the vaguely "Shakespearean" look.  You should see me in a poet's shirt, brocade vest and leather pants. Exquemelin -> RE: The relationship of facial hair and Mastership (8/14/2007 4:40:15 PM)

I often have facial hair but it has more to do with my not caring about looking good for the guys at work. When I have something to do where I care about how I look(like the munch this weekend) I shave. Oh, I also tend to have a 5 O'Clock shadown about 5 minutes after I shave.

I have noticed that women with "facials" tend to be slaves [;)]

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: The relationship of facial hair and Mastership (8/14/2007 9:01:19 PM)

I think it's just the modern style of the day, mixed with laziness, mixed with some crazy idea that a lot of guys think they look tougher and more dominant with facial hair, mixed with a lot of younger guys thinking they look more mature with facial hair.

SmokingGun82 -> RE: The relationship of facial hair and Mastership (8/14/2007 9:47:45 PM)

For me it's a combination of reasons... one of which is yes, I hate shaving. It also hides the fact that my face is almost a perfect circle. I guess it does add a couple years to my age, but that doesn't mean much to me.

The biggest reason, though, is I like the way it looks. I can't imagine being clean shaven at this point in my life.

MasterFireMaam -> RE: The relationship of facial hair and Mastership (8/14/2007 10:51:33 PM)

There's a long standing tradition that submissives be clean shaven. I think that has influenced this study...even if it's not specifically stated, most subs/slaves will go with this rule because it's what they feel they should do.

This isn't quite the topic but it still has to do with hair above the neck.  I have always noticed that there seems to be a higher number of bald Dominant men in comparison to submissive men, and men in the general population.  (By bald I mean completely shaved head, not male pattern baldness.)
