Top shelf margarita on the rocks, little salt.
Really good tequilla/real lime juice, sugar syrup, more ice, top it off with lots of Grand Marnier or Controiu ( sp? that good french orange stuff!)

It's Cointreau...

Which reminds me: liqueurs: green Chartreuse VEP. I'm all about it... if I can find it.

-quick reply-

I don't drink very often, so when I do, I usually get straight to the point..either sambuca or ouzo are my absolute faves, like them so much it makes me wish my tolerance was higher so I could drink more when I do have them. If I'm drinking beer..something dark..usually beck's dark since I live in a town with limited selection. On the non-alcoholic front..Moxie (a soda i can't get down here..booo), sweet tea.

Lemon lime bitters, oooooh yum !  The more bitter it is the yummier it is.  I love the tartness how it feels cool yet sticky sweet and almost puckering the flesh of my lips...mmmm !

My alcohol tolerance is a pain in the ass.  Most of the time I simply drink stouts,  dark ales or black lagers (in that order).  But I'm a tad bit of a chemist when it comes to cocktails.  Here's some I've "invented" which have been well received ... especially the MK-Ultra.

Black Mother of the Forest
----------------------------
equal parts Jaiger,  Agwa ( an herbal liquer made from fermenting guarana berries and coca leaf extract ) and Acaiberry juice.

Black Mother's Revenge
-------------------------
Replace the acaiberry juice with Full Throttle - MOTHER ( acaiberry flavoured energy drink )

GAIA
-------
Agwa and BLUE DEMON flavour Full Throttle

MK Ultra ( aka ... The Leg Spreader ) ... recipe a slightly guarded secret.  But it's Vanilla sweet and Citrus Sour

but Neala - that's the joy of threaded conversation: it'll be here for a while... and it's available through Google et al.
Besides, OP, aren't you a bit young to be drinking legally?

While we're talking shots, here's a good, fairly original one: EVA BRAUN - Jagermeister, Rumpelminze, Goldschlager, Berry Schnapps. Drop a 9mm parabellum into the glass and light it. Drink while still flaming... swallowing the bullet is optional.

See what fun things you learn when you grow up? ;)

LOL.

Legally? Perhaps, but not according to my law book.

e01n:  Good taste.  I too hate Starbucks.  Don't people taste the overroasted coffee?  Its not "fresher"  it is burnt!   Why no Bushmills?  Black Bush is pretty fine...but if I'm drinkin' Irish-- give me Powers.

But if you got it, give me bourbon.  I could live on the Woodford Reserve distillery grounds and die a happy man.

My beef with Bushmills is political, rather than taste... Same as the one about Black & Tans. Definitely know the story of the RIFRC... hell, some of my family was probably on the receiving end of their attentions...

a shot of Jack Daniels and a sip of coke to chase it with or on occasion I'll chase it with a local beer.

The prefered beverage is beer -- actual beer.  I'm a beer snob and I'm damned proud of that.  Those serving Budweiser or Miller or some such may expect me to politely ask for a Pepsi instead.  :-)

I enjoy Sierra Nevada, Saranac, Dogfish Head, Sam Smith's, Warsteiner, Paulaner, Unibroue, and many other brands and breweries.

As for mixed drinks, things with rum will definitely keep my interest.  I discovered Bajan rum punches while in Barbados: rum, water, lime juice and sugar syrup; not in order by proportion.  Drop in a few drops of bitters and a cherry, which sinks to the bottom of the glass faster than George Bush's approval ratings.  Observe the tourists attempt to chase the cherry around, and watch them stagger down the road back to their hotels...and try very hard not to laugh at them...

Almost forgot to add something in my "soft drink" section: good, homemade root beer. As in the slightly alcoholic (not enough to get you drunk) stuff that comes from exposing yeast and spices & herbs to sugar and water... My favorite is made in Chicago "under the counter" at TRU... The stuff that has Gale Gand's name on it that comes in a bottle comes pretty close, but I like the tiny bit of sharpness that comes from the real thing.

Full Disclosure: during college, I worked at Triple X Drive-In in West Lafayette... where we made root beer from scratch.

Kiddie Drink: Kool-Aid
Soft Drink: Dr. Pepper (Though I've recently switched to Coke Zero.)
Alcoholic: Cherry Bomb. (And like any boondocks teenager, cheap BF wine.)
