We use XP pro...XP home is supposed to be pure rubbish.

I do not know where you heard that, but it is a giant crock of rubbish. XP Home is exactly the same core as XP Pro, but XP Pro has some added features that I will bet you $50 you do not even use, much less know about. They are for enterprise level networking mostly.

Maybe in Usa Dell is good but here in Australia my friends have had terrible times with them. Costly to up-grade. Cant change certain Bios settings.

There is a hack out that you can change xp home to xp pro. Although your not meant to be able to install SP2. There would be ways around it more then likely but would it be worth the time for the benifits you would get?

(Taken from SirKenin) They are for enterprise level networking mostly.

The next system I build is gonna be water cooled. Is that difficult to do?

Not at all. I have made water cooled systems before. I use a good quality garden hose and I make sure the water cascades over the different cards and connectors so I get a trickling noise from it. I use one as a water feature in my living room. Now if I could only figure out why that one circuit breaker keeps tripping...

I use XP pro and also have SP2.

Have one computer with XP home...there is a big quality difference I see.

One with NT on it.

Well I build computers so I have a few.

IIS is only one of many, many features XP has that Home does not.

Absolute crap. W/we in the business call that the placebo effect. I have deployed and serviced more Pro and Home computers than I can shake a stick at and I can say for certain that there is no noticable difference whatsoever in every day use until you get into enterprise level networking.

That is your preference. Mine is not having to reboot every 5 minutes because XP home crashes and locks up.

My pc with XP Pro on it has crashed maybe twice now in the year or so pro has been on it.

That's why the kids use the home version and I use the pro version...until I upgrade of course.

Take a look at your hardware and any crappy programs you have installed (especially kids programs). Home and XP are the exact same until you hit networking.. Placebo effect. It is always easier to blame it on Microsoft than it is to take the responsibility for yourself.

OK, I've looked they both have the exact same programs on them. With the exception of the XP pro computer has a whole lot more programs.
No kids programs. Did I forget to mention these kids are 20 year's old?

Oh, I guess I forgot to mention I have a very good friend who worked on XP for Microsoft in Seattle and he has told me there are serious issues with XP home?
Oh wait, thats the placebo affect though isn't it? Maybe he is a mirage?
Oh, maybe I also forgot to mention I used to be in the same business you are so I know a wee little about comptuers.

Now, as I've stated at least 3 to 4 times now. It is personal preference. Either accept the fact I have an opinion or do not.
I am entitled.
