i collect beads, baubles, fabric, notions, anything hands-on-crafty in the making of jewelry or clothing... but it's more a 'I know I will want to make this into something, someday...' rather than a 'I need to have this in and of itself, to enjoy collecting.'

i collect the works of Robert Anson Heinlein and a variety of other authors... Spider Robinson, Jacqueline Carey, AA Milne, Laurell K Hamilton, Charles de Lint, Sharon Shinn, Iris Johanson, Kay Hooper... so many books, so little time...

my mother decided when I was ten that I needed a doll collection, so she started one for me and continued it for about ten years. I have it in boxes in the closet, and yes, they're neat and all, but it never really 'clicked' for me.

if I had the financial freedom to collect anything I wanted to? I'd fill my home with Waterhouse's paintings.... and I'd spend ridiculous amounts on sex toys and lingerie. :-)

hmmm, trying not to collect dust :) I collect elephant items. When I was pregnant with my toddler I went to South Africa to the Knynsa Elphant Park and fell in love with Elephants. They are beautiful animals.
I also collect fridge magnets from the states and countries that I have been to.
My husband and I seem to collect a lot of movies. he has a lot of little nik naks from his niece and nephew. W/we both love books.
and My two year old collects toys, toys and more toys.
Oh yeah, W/we collect toys also :p

I collect shoes.

Also, I seem to have in common with a few here, bells, elephants, and books are some of my favorite things to collect. Just call me a pack rat.

I collect books, all different genres...if I read one I absolutely love, I try to find it leather-bound or at least some sort of special edition to save in my little library. I'm really rough on books when I read them, so I try not to touch my most expensive ones.
I've started amassing an odd collection of little gnomes. I don't care about who makes them or what their value is. All I care is if they look like the travelocity gnome, who I have an inexplicable fascination with.

There are two things that I collect: Bears, since forever....keychains...i have so many now and no keys to put on them lol

Oh yeah, keychains are a fav of mine too. Anytime I go someplace I have to add one to my collection. One time a step-grandmother got me one from New Orleans, not knowing what to get me, and I think she was surprised when I got so excited over it.

I collect odds and ends of coinage ($2 bill, the Bicentenial quarter, state quarters, a few bits of forein currency) nothing all that valuable at this point in time... just something to do I guess.

And stuffed animals. ALthough my cat has been stealing the little ones I get as presents. *sigh*

I collect rocks and artifacts. I also collect books. And I'm into ghost hunting, so do all of the videos I have from recent years count?

dead toys. I have a doll head I found in the attic, and she has any remnants of toys I find. she has a barbie leg, a GI Joe arm, some game piece that's a creepy clown face, a tiny army man.

anything I find out on a walk, or at a park, she gets it.

yeah. I am that weird.

I used to collect fish until one day I got one that grew to be over 3 feet long. Suddenly my collection was smaller and smaller.

We have a 2 month old son so we are amassing alot of toys (and not the kind we are used to. LOL
