AAkasha -> Do you trust your peers here? (8/21/2007 10:13:48 AM)

If names were randomly drawn out of a hat (names of people that post on these forums), would you trust a random person (you do not get to choose) from this message board to:

* Babysit your small child (under 5 yrs old) for a weekend?

* Top/dominate your girlfriend or sister?

* Take care of your pets for one week?

* Go on a blind date with your best friend?

I wouldn't trust a random person from ANYWHERE.

subedana -> RE: Do you trust your peers here? (8/21/2007 10:21:40 AM)

For the most part I would have to say no. Nothing personal guys but I know no one here personaly it takes much for me to trust to that point. There is one person on another board I would trust that far. But in all fairness I wouldn't expect you to trust me either. So it's all good. [:)]

I'm not sure how anyone can trust someone they haven't met, it's difficult to know enough about people wants meet frequently.

No, I would not trust a random person from CM (or anywhere) to do any of the above.

However,  in my time here, I've gotten to know a handful of people that I've grown to trust with my personal information, name, phone number etc, and a couple whom I've met.  It's a small handful of people, but those people I would trust with any or all of the above.

CrazyC -> RE: Do you trust your peers here? (8/21/2007 10:37:37 AM)

Nope! Not that i wouldn't want to be friends, just trust is something that isn't given out. I can only think of one person i trust enough and that is because i know him face to face.

fieryangel21 -> RE: Do you trust your peers here? (8/21/2007 10:43:39 AM)

I might trust them with my pets, because I have rats and there's not much you can do to screw up taking care of rats. But I wouldn't trust half the people I do know to babysit my young child (if I had one) or become in any way involved with my best friend or sister. I'd never trust those things to a random stranger.

MAYBE if I was allowed to watch them the whole time through the sights of a sniper rifle. Would that be permitted?

callistaIn -> RE: Do you trust your peers here? (8/21/2007 10:44:17 AM)

Your questions deal with issues that are extremely personal to the person involved. Because of that; no random picking of a person, from anywhere, would I trust with the well-being/care of family or friends.

Best of wishes

Add a loud "Hell NO!!" to the beginning of this and that about sums it up.

GhitaAmati -> RE: Do you trust your peers here? (8/21/2007 10:47:02 AM)

ehrm..yea...absolutly hell no to any and all of the above.

Bobkgin -> RE: Do you trust your peers here? (8/21/2007 10:54:39 AM)

You -do- realize trust is earned, right?

To randomly assign anyone to babysit children is about the stupidest idea I've heard in a long time.

Nor would I trust the regulars to do it either: strangers all.

I assume there is a purpose to this other than getting the obvious answer from everyone?

(o.O)

Surely to trust random people from the board, is the same as trusting random strangers of off the street ?

Is this like a lets see if there is anyone on this site who is wholly and entirely stoopid?

I dont even trust the nonrandom ones that appear to be "ok".

Based on the amount of incredibly personal, serious advice people ask on here, it started to occur to me that there must be some level of trust.  Apparently there isn't, so I am wondering why people ask for advice from random strangers on such serious matters of health, fidelity, etc.

I see a big difference between asking strangers on a forum for help with personal issues and asking strangers on a forum to:
* Babysit your small child (under 5 yrs old) for a weekend?

* Top/dominate your girlfriend or sister?

* Take care of your pets for one week?

* Go on a blind date with your best friend?

Asking for help or revealing intimate details online do not require any personal contact whatsoever. Getting someone involved with family and friends IS personal contact.

My thoughts exactly, well said, camille

Hi Ma`am...... "Random" people off the board is not the same thing as people i chat to and take note of. There is quite a difference asking advice and reading lots of answers against trusting people with kids ect. There are some here i would trust however.

Fallacy of the excluded middle... 'trust' covers a range outside of the narrow choices the OP tries to foist off on us.

Not just no, but hell no. No fucking way no. Not in this lifetime or any other no.

slaveboyforyou -> RE: Do you trust your peers here? (8/21/2007 1:00:47 PM)

* Babysit your small child (under 5 yrs old) for a weekend?  I don't have any kids, so not applicable to me.  But if I did, no I wouldn't.  Watching kids is definitely a job for trusted friends or family.

* Top/dominate your girlfriend or sister?  I don't have a sister, but I do have a brother.  He is a cocky kind of guy that fights at the drop of a hat, and he spent 2 years in prison.  So if someone wants to try, I wouldn't care.  He can take care of himself.

* Take care of your pets for one week?  I have a cat, and she pretty much takes care of herself.  About all a person has to do is fill up her food bowl every couple of days.  I have trusted neighbors I barely knew to do that.  So sure, why not?

* Go on a blind date with your best friend?  They couldn't be any worse than some of the bums I have seen my friends date, so sure.  They are adults, and they don't need me to mother them.
