SugarMyChurro is kinda striking me like he is acting like ArchieBunker, except 25 years younger, maybe.

As for other comments re: The base-line value of charity -
Oh yes, I agree - charity is undoubtedly a very stupid goal. Absolutely indefensible - on any basis. Personally, if the tables were turned and I was poverty-stricken, and had been hit by some natural disaster or was dying and in desperate need of help - I know I'd just wave it away with both hands (Not!).

I am not arguing with anyone's right to an opinion - I just absolutely completely disagree, if we're gonna put it in basic general terms (or even in most strictly defined terms. Are there exceptions (for me)? Sure. Just not this one - not as far as I can tell.

They went to prison, for substantiated accusations ... obviously.

SugarMyChurro -> RE: Mother Teresa's dark night of the soul (8/26/2007 8:59:45 PM)

Yeah, but here and now - online - I have no proof of any of it. Do you?

kittinSol -> RE: Mother Teresa's dark night of the soul (8/26/2007 8:59:57 PM)

Theresa did well to hurry up and die then...

You still have a couple of minutes to wish me a happy one [8D].

PS: Fuck. Too late. Hold on... it's never too late. Come on then, you know you want to.

MissMagnolia -> RE: Mother Teresa's dark night of the soul (8/26/2007 9:02:03 PM)

Please look on the home page........it is clearly listed.

LOL you mean this page?
http://www.cmswr.org/index.htm
The one that clearly indicates it is the home page of soemthing called Council of Major Superiors of Women Religious? The one that absolutely no where mentions the Missionaries of Charity? It sure does include a link to Natri but no claim that Natri manages the MoC's money in the US or elsewhere.

caitlyn -> RE: Mother Teresa's dark night of the soul (8/26/2007 9:09:19 PM)

I'm on central time ... isn't there a rule somewhere that says well wishers get to use their own time? That may be unproven, of course.

Anyway, happy birthday, and many more to come.

It's not too late where I'm at.

Happy Birthday kittinSol!

Wow, you really need things laid out for you , dont you?  Should I make the phone call for you, too?  I admitted that I could not find evidence supporting mispending or spending ......I could not find anything.....get it? My guess is, again, the Vatican has it. WTF......She spent it all at Victoria Secrets.........the case has been solved.  I agree, Miss Magnolia, it could not have been on the things you mentioned.......hehe

So what was this all about? You started off claiming NATRI handled the order's money in the US. So I looked into it and found pretty compelling evidence that was incorrect. I also told you the link you provided showed no reason to reach that conclusion so you posted a new link that also failed to make that conclusion. finally you point to another webpage that is the home page of an organization that includes a single page description of the MoC but no linkage to NATRI. That this umbrella group does link to NATRI's website is supposed to be relevant somehow but I'm just not seeing it.

UR2Badored -> RE: Mother Teresa's dark night of the soul (8/26/2007 9:26:27 PM)

It is a little thing called stewardship.  Anyway, again, I cannot account for what happen to the money.........but it is not my fulltime job and clearly not yours either..........This was all the information I could find, and I clearly state this at least three times that I have been unable to find any evidence either way.....What are you not following?

BTW...You need to be a member to access significant information on NATRI...There are phone numbers listed on both sites and there is only one way to find out.  It appears to me that NATRI does stewardship work for the Bronx's location....It was the only bit of information I could find...dont hurt the messenger..I dont recall the link you provided for evidence of mispending.

Thank you for doing the follow up, DK. Hot air, but no substance. My incredulity increased with each of her posts. No longer.

DISCLAIMER:  I did not fully explore these sites, but these would be reasonable starting points to track down the money, if this is even possible. Also, the other two sources I've listed would be great to use as phone contacts  if one feels so incline.  (Again) So far, I have been unable to track down any figures on mispending or any spending at all which is strange. I know this is not the thread's topic (at all) but I am interested in where it went (beside the Vatican). It prompted me to  offered the little information earlier. (apparently a mistake)  I am not going to spend too much more time searching for information on either views.  It would have been nice to find one or the other, and I hope someone does.

Some time ago, I answered the threads actual question regarding Mother Teresa's momentary lack of faith as not being a factor diminishing her other life's work. I am pretty firm in my belief. Evidently, there are many views which I will leave to others express.

PS  IF you have problems finding the home page or maneuvering through the sites........do your own searches and find better sites.

Generally, when  money is collected within a  parish, portions go to the Dioceses and Archdioceses of the various organization it belongs in.  The links below should supply directories to North America and Calcutta. Parishes are divided up regionally. I hope someone can fnd any information as I was unable to given the time I searched. (DUH! I knew all of this and did not look this up yesterday)

SusanofO -> RE: Mother Teresa's dark night of the soul (8/27/2007 1:18:55 AM)

'Ya know...even if someone wrote a nasty book about her, or at one time there was real proof this donation money went unspent - it still doesn't mean a lot of it wasn't spent on the poor and dying - and it doesn't mean that later at some point, all of it wasn't spent on the poor and dying.

And since people complain about her atrocious book-keeping skills, nobody seems to be able to actually point put exactly how much money they are referring to anyway, with any certainty.

Well, I guess the amount of money in my checking account fluctuates, sometimes, too. So does the amount of just about any charitable organization you could name, like The Red Cross, The Salvation Army, etc.

Some folks seem very intent on defaming her. IMO, they haven't near succeeded.

SusanofO -> RE: Mother Teresa's dark night of the soul (8/27/2007 4:50:47 AM)

To allow attitudes like that (IMO) to promote such comprehensive irrationality,  that it would allow jumping to conslusions as extreme as some of the ones on this thread, with zero proof, is maybe not surprising, but still ridiculous (to me), and kinda depressing. To be a bit competitve is one thing, but - some people wonder why we have things like wars? Hmm

It strikes me as odd, that some of the same people who are be-moaning things like Mother Thersa's religious motives, or India's political views, or who are against charity, etc - are many times the same ones who be-moan things like the Iraq war out of the other side of their mouth. To be a bit competitive is one thing.

To allow an attitude like that (IMO) to promote such comprehensive irrationality in oneself,  that it would allow jumping to conslusions as extreme as some of the ones on this thread, with zero proof, is maybe not surprising, but still ridiculous (to me), and kinda depressing.

You have now lowered yourself to mudslinging using an inappropriate argument. You are out of order.

SusanofO -> RE: Mother Teresa's dark night of the soul (8/27/2007 5:14:29 AM)

Not really. I consider the whole turn this thread took, to be primarily due to a willingness to engage in mud-slinging, and reputation bashing, w/zero objective, let alone conclusive Proof, of wrong-doing. If I recall correctly, this is the same reason many wars have been started. Sorry, Rule.

Why would Anglican church info be relevant to investigating a Catholic religious order?
