NeedToUseYou -> RE: Senator pleads guilty to disorderly conduct (8/30/2007 7:08:14 PM)

I think this is just fucked up.

They charged him, for tapping his foot, and putting his hand under the stall.

And very few have a problem with this? Wow!

I don't have a problem with this busting people for having sex in public bathrooms, but maybe just maybe the burden of evidence, should be more than one cops testimony of actions that could conceivably be random behaviours.
.

I did listen to the whole interview, and the senator repeated said he wasn't guilty, and the cop repeatedly said if he said he was guilty there'd only be a small fine and this would never leak. So, if one was a senator, you have two choices, as given by the cop.
A. Plead guilty pay fine,. no one finds out.
B. Plead innocent, media circus.

But what happened was he plead guilty, and then it leaked. The cop was patentedly rude on the tape as well, regardless of the truth of the matter, he is a shining example of an arrogant cop.

I don't know if he's innocent or not. Hell, it's all up to the cop to decide. Did their feet bump. Senator says no, Cop says yes. Did he put his hand under the stall. Senator says no, cop says yes.

It's all on the testimony of one cop, that was rude. And I still don't see how those actions can even be criminal.

It would seem to me some tangible piece of evidence would be required, like in prostitution. They can't just arrest you for talking to a prostitute(A very good indicator you would like illegal sex), they have to get you to say it. Is foot tapping, and some other vague sigsn, proof, and all those sigsn were verified by a single officer.

Sounds like bullshit to me.

He might be guilty, but from what I heard there is zero evidence of substance.

No, when you join you go where you are sent, and do the job your are given.  Bush released all his records, and was honorably discharged.  He got behind and did make up drills, so what?.

luckydog1 -> RE: Senator pleads guilty to disorderly conduct (8/30/2007 8:07:14 PM)

If he is a Senator he should know that there is no possible way to pay a fine and keep it secret (unless it is a fine that is paid directly to the cop with no paperwork involved, ie a bribe), it is a matter of public record.  He should be kicked out of the senate for showing that level of stupidity.  Pulling him from commitee chairs is exactly the right thing to do, while there is a deeper investigation.   And if the investigation shows he is guilty, kick his ass out of the Senate.  If the voters want to send him back, he gets to be like Barney Frank...

Is that alright in the Officer Corps? The low standards to which you seem content to hold our nation's officers to is distressing.

Oh, I'm sorry, "Getting Behind?" Is that what leaving your post without orders is called these days? When he signed the statement-of-understanding, he KNEW there were assigned training periods.

The moment he forgot his obligations, "forgetting" he had to show up, they should have shipped his ass overseas.

But with people coddling this kind of behavior, it's no surprise that we've seen so much incompetence.

This is my favorite part. He MOVED to Alabama, changes jobs, STOPS ATTENDING, and THEN APPLIES FOR A TRANSFER!

Of course, it was rejected.

All this time HE KNEW he wasn't honoring his oath and commitment.

Hey, if that lack of honesty and integrity is acceptable to YOU, then that's YOUR Personal Standard of Integrity and Honor.

Mine are significantly higher, apparently.

It`s only a disorderly conduct charge,a misdemeanor. Not really a big deal,and,....he might beat it, if he can get a do-over.As for his constituency, that another story all together.

"I don't have a problem with this busting people for having sex in public bathrooms, but maybe just maybe the burden of evidence, should be more than one cops testimony of actions that could conceivably be random behaviours."

On the tape.he attempts to explain away the hand signal, by saying he was picking up a peace of toilet paper off the floor.Give me a fuck`n break! How many people do you know, who would pick toilet paper up off of the floor of a public bathroom?!?Maybe a toilet slave or scat kinkster, but not regular people. That explanation is just a bit to cheeky

1st off, everyone who`s an adult, knows that cops can legally lie ,in order to get a confession.
A lawyer, should also know this, even a senator should know this.jeezzzz...

2nd,people who are innocent don`t plead guilty, period.I don`t care what "choices" Craig thought he had to make, you don`t admit to things you haven`t done.

But what happened was he plead guilty, and then it leaked. The cop was patentedly rude on the tape as well, regardless of the truth of the matter, he is a shining example of an arrogant cop.

That`s naive .Again, any adult knows that police blotters are public and disorderly conduct cases would most always show up in the paper. This guy Craig was able to suppress this story for more than three weeks. The arrogance of power is as fucked up as the hypocrisy. There was no "leak",that`s  ridiculous.

It was Row Call(for god`s sake),who finally got a copy of the police record.I think the big Idaho paper was helping Craig suppress the story.Wouldn`t surprise me if they did. It`s a testimonial to how awful the press has become.

Liberal press,my ass!!

I don't know if he's innocent or not. Hell, it's all up to the cop to decide. Did their feet bump. Senator says no, Cop says yes. Did he put his hand under the stall. Senator says no, cop says yes.

It won`t really matter.Again, the charge is a misdemeanor, with only a fine involved. No big deal. It`s his voters in Idaho, that are going to have something to say about this. They don`t like it,at all.The national GOP has given him till tomorrow to quit,or get punished,GOP style.[image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m13.gif[/image] lol

It's all on the testimony of one cop, that was rude. And I still don't see how those actions can even be criminal.

There`s no criminal charge, here. But to republicans,he may aswell as comitted murder or rape.

Sounds like bullshit to me.
He might be guilty, but from what I heard there is zero evidence of substance.

Of course it`s bullshit, but the only bullshit is in the public arena, and in the political world.

The charge is real enough, though. His actions and reactions are real enough. And the ass kicking he`s going to get from his rat GOP friends is going to be very real

I  don`t think anyone, including republicans, care about his private life or sexual choices. There are plenty of openly gay politicians and officials, both liberal and conservative. And many more who serve in the closet(hate that term).

It`s the hypocrisy, that people can`t stand.It`s the hypocrisy,stupid.......

Who wants to bet, that there`ll be an" I`m not gay"pledge, much like the "no new taxes" pledge, that republicans got into before?

Election time is fast approaching so stay tuned for more stories of politicians caught with their hands in the cookie jar,
their snouts in the pork trough and their pants down around their ankles.

cyberdude611 -> RE: Senator pleads guilty to disorderly conduct (8/31/2007 7:45:10 AM)

Why is this such a big deal? First off, does anyone think this would even be a story if Craig was a Democrat? I mean Bill Clinton groped every woman in range and countless women have accused him of rape and sexual harassment over the years. I mean one or two is one thing....but there are many women over the past 20-30 years accusing him of the same thing. No one in the Democratic party gave a damn. And voters didn't give a damn.

Second, I have a serious problem with law enforcement tactics these days considering entrapment. Going online pretending to be a 12 year old girl or hinding out in a bathroom stall waiting for a hand to pass underneith is just not my idea of fine police work.

So, you`re "down" with the pedophiles.Got it.

If I hear you correctly, you would like to see all the freaks Chris Hanson has taken out, back out on the streets, attempting to molest children.

You would like to see the  sting operations ended, that catch these monsters.I see.

Are you sure you feel this way?

You can`t have it both ways. Pick carefully now.....

When I watch the show, and see a guy caught,w/ the "deer in the headlights" look on their faces,I feel good and happy that they`re going to be in big trouble, that they`re finally fucking caught.

You? You feel sorry for the guy.WTF?

CollarMe may not be the website for you.We don`t like that shit, here on CollarMe.

As far as the police. They were probably ordered there, because people were complaining about the sexual activity,at the air-port.I don`t believe they were targeting gays.If this were straights getting BJs/hand jobs in bathroom stalls,I`d be just as uncomfortable. This was a public rest room. Who the fuck knows what else is going on in there?Get a fucking room, for god`s sake!lol

I pray people like you are not in charge of
anything....

And the comparative morality, where a neo-con bean-counter, is keeping score in his head about how fair life/the world/the media is,is just pathetic.Note to neo-cons:you`ll never feel that life is fair, self victim-hood is part of the neurosis.

cyberdude611 -> RE: Senator pleads guilty to disorderly conduct (8/31/2007 9:23:29 AM)

Absolutely not...I despise those people...

But I am educated enough to look at issues without emotions getting involved. And I feel as if no actual law was being broken. If a preditor is talking to a kid and then goes and meets that kid...by all means, take him down and throw him in prison. But these people were talking to who? Some reporter that seems to get off talking about sex with these people?

As for that show...I find it laughable. When these pedophiles exit that house, you got a dozen cops come out of the bushes screaming with guns drawn. I mean give me a f---ing break. That show has nothing to do about catching preditors, it's about ratings and entertainment. And most of those people they catch do NOT go to jail for very long (unless they are on probation or something), I hope you know that. They all plea deal out and usually end up with probation and community service. So really that show isn't solving any problems and it isn't taking anyone off the street. None of those cases go to trail.

Plus what about the kids out there who are being abused by mommy, daddy, or Uncle Joe? 80% of sex abuse on children come from within the child's own family. I don't see Chris Hanson doing anything to help those kids. He's a reporter working for a company that would not put a story or a show on the air unless it generates an audience. And people like to see big muscle-bound cops with guns pushing child preditors into the ground and throwing them in the back of a police car. Only the part they dont show you is that an hour later they post bond and a month later they are still on the street. That show is a joke.

And I know something about what I am talking about here. This isn't just my opinion. I have a Psychology degree with a criminology component. And my cousin is a clinical psychologist who works with pedophiles and rapists every day for the Florida state prison system. She's been doing it for nearly a decade now. And she evaluates not only the preditors but also the police. And she has said on many occasions that the philosophy in law enforcement is wrong when it comes to pedophilia. They will never solve this problem the way they are going about it right now.

And just because I am critical of the process and the police does not mean I support sex offenders.  Far more kids die in this country every day as a result to drugs or gang violence. Being a victim of a sexual preditor from the internet is actually statistically very low. The media is the one who has turned every case into an epidemic.

Politesub53 -> RE: Senator pleads guilty to disorderly conduct (8/31/2007 10:13:37 AM)

i think any politician who helps pass laws that affect everyone, should at least abide those very same laws. Before anyone says they are only human like the rest of us, consider this, they are in good jobs with great benefits were the average person isnt so lucky. Its hypocrisy at the very least. [;)]

popeye1250 -> RE: Senator pleads guilty to disorderly conduct (8/31/2007 1:05:30 PM)

I really couldn't care less wether Craig is straight, bi or gay, that's not the point.
The point is he lied and then he pleaded "Guilty" in court.
Like the Police Officer said in that interview played all over the news yesterday; "you're a Senator, people voted for you and you lie."

NeedToUseYou -> RE: Senator pleads guilty to disorderly conduct (8/31/2007 1:58:52 PM)

This has nothing to do with him being a senator, I really know nothing about this senator, good or bad.

My objection is to the standards by which the cops charge people with this "crime".

It simply breaks down to, by the standards in the tape, that one is guilty if one taps their foot and reaches on near the bottom of the stall. That is absurd.

The senators "hypocrisy" for an unprovable crime in this case,  or the senators party, or his stupidity have little to do with the fact, that the standards used to even make the assertion are weak.

I hate hypocrisy in politics as much as anybody. However, the accusation has zero evidence to even be raised. It seems to me people don't care about right or wrong in this regard, they just want an "enemy" to fall. That's hypocrisy.

If one thinks this charge was even valid then one must accept that foot tapping, and reaching near the stall wall is an illegal action. That is Bullshit, and any and all that feel otherwise are hypocrites themselves if they are gloating over an "enemies" falling.. A rational standard of evidence would be actually beginning to initiate sex in a non-ambiguous manner, like entering the stall, and unzipping pants, or a verbal acknowledgement.

Foot Tapping, and reaching, can now be construed illegal behaviour, lovely.

It's out of control police activity, and whether it is a misdemeanor or a felony is really irrelevant.

Not only do the vast majority of politicians caught in the act of gay sex turn out to be assinine moralizing arch conservatives, the GOP presidential wannabees this year are a veritable who's who of Marital Failure:

Rudy Giuliani - On his third marriage; lived with his mistress in Mayor's mansion while still married to #2; announced intention to divorce to the press before notifying the wife.

Newt Gingrich (unanounced as of yet) - Third marriage, infidelity involved in second one. Now has a book out on how to get America back to its basic "family" values.

John McCain - Second marriage.

Fred Thompson - married his daughter. (Oops, sorry, just looks like it.)

On the Dem side? All one-marriage candidates. The Clintons have had their well-publicized (and exploited at immense taxpayer expense by the GOP) difficulties, but they stuck with it and are making it work. Still, you will hear time and again the GOP trot themselves out as the Holy Sacred Lockbox of America's Morals. And the media will swallow it whole and spit it back out at us, no matter how jaw-droppingly ridiculous the reality of it is.
