It depends on the kind of tape... If you use bondage tape (PVC, non-adhesive) you don't really need anything under it. At most, a stocking will work well to keep all the hair tidily in place so it doesn't go poking out all over. A stocking would also be adequate if you were using black electrical tape, which can be a good option since it comes in a smaller roll, and can be done to a nice smooth, shiny finish if you're careful. Just make sure you've got a good overlap on electrical tape, because the adhesive works much better on tape-to-tape contact than tape-to-skin (sweat will start removing it before you've even finished the wrap) For duct tape, you really want to use a layer of plastic wrap, because the adhesive is strong enough to stick to hair through a sheer fabric. If you go to an office supply store, they usually sell half-rolls of pallet wrap- a roll of plastic wrap about 6-8" long, with an extended handle for easier use. This is a much better size for doing a head than a full-sized roll of kitchen wrap. Of course, you'll need to have something handy to punch nose holes as you wrap it around. i'm not sure what the best way is to start wrapping, but i think it works best if you start under the chin, right by the top of the neck, go around the top of the head until the underside of the jaw and top of the head are covered, then cut the tape and start going around the head laterally starting at the chin and working up. Should be common sense, but don't wrap it too tighly at any point- not just by the neck, but around the jaw (can cause cramps in some people, like me ), over the nose (real obvious), or over the eyes (can become very unpleasant very quickly if pressure is put on the eyelids). Don't forget to take out contact lenses first, if applicable Have fun!
