apettiger, i agree with you and i hear you....The 1st thought that popped into my head when i read your question "why not just pass it by" was because thats why we are here....to comment...to banter...to argue...to laugh...to be shocked...to be enlightened...to be enraged...to be delighted and to every now and then...make note of it with our own 2 cents worth.... thats just my take on it...

If it wouldn't have taken Me three pages of reading, and only seeing about five posts actually making a contribution to the relative topic, I might have disagreed. Since it did, I can't say that the OP doesn't have merit. It could be that, at this particular time, there are more using the boards for the lighthearted value, rather than the discussions. I'm guilty of this Myself at times, and often wonder if readers can tell the difference between My sillier moments, rather than My serious ones. It goes back to the personality of those who claim to have a sense of humor. (As the movie says...... Everyone thinks they have good taste, and a sense of humor, but they can't ALL have good taste and a sense of humor.) One possibility isn't just the ebb and flow of the members, but the different tides of the members themselves. Like you, Michael, I find Myself in a personal situation where things are changing for Me. Some of My views are changing. Some areas are growing. Some perspectives are getting a different insight. I'm sure that you and I aren't possibly the only two out of the supposed 500,000 people connected to this site. Maybe as some are coming to new frontiers, it is easier at times to withdraw from the serious, when we are not so sure about the questions before us. For what it's worth, I think the tide will change again.

I assumed that since he posted this originally under the Casual Banter and other random acts of stupidity thead, he sort of implied that while he was genuinely annoyed; he wasn't taking it too seriously. His original post, while getting his point across, was presented in such a way as to bring some humor to his ire. Michael, if my own silly banter detracted from your original intent and/or added to your aggravation or ire; I sincerely apologize.
