I enjoy to play on the rough side of things, heavy spanking, punching, slaping, kicking, paddles, straps, canes. And I do bruise nicely and enjoy being bruised. "Little Badges Of Glory" is what Master and Mistress call them. But are there any salves, lotions, potions or solutions that can be taken oraly or used externally to make the bruises heal up quicker so that I can have a quicker rebound so I can session again rather quickly? I would love to hear what others have used and the personal results they have had with the bought or made product.

Status: offline 		Arnica Rocks - you can take internally or buy a cream to use with massage.  Doesn't fuck with contraception or breastfeeding.
Asprin does too - but just be aware of taking with other medications and remember it is a blood thinner.

Status: offline 		There are certain herbs that help with bruising, but (and this could just be my own physical history too), I also know that bruising too often can lead to later vein problems, skin issues, and other sometimes minor, sometimes major, health issues. 

I enjoy a good bruising as much as anyone I guess (my favorites usually last a week or so), but I tend to believe its best to allow your body to heal up on its own to avoid problems.

Status: offline 		If healing 'on its own' was the most viable and healthy option, then doctors, homeopaths and mothers wouldn't have the remedies.
Arnica simply aid and helps the body with bruising and reduces swelling.  It helps relax muscles also.  Midwives recommend you take it when you go into labour to assist with the swelling of the perenial area after childbirth.  It is also good with emotional shock.  So taking it before a scene - or the days beforehand is a positive forethought.

Status: offline 		I have issues with blood clotting (lack thereof most of the time, though depending on my hydration level the exact opposite), and have been told by my doctors, that when i bruise, its not in and of itself unhealthy, but repeatedly doing so, without allowing my body sufficient time to recover, I could cause myself to have greater problems akin to DVT.  So even should I take something like aspirin (which I do) to help with swelling and reduction of bruising...I still should not allow it to happen too frequently. 

My op was only made in the spirit of "this is my way of doing things, your mileage may vary".  I tend to err on the side of caution. :)  But I tend to be paranoid about things like that.

I've also heard (though never actually asked my doctors about the phenomena) from other people in the community, that repeated spankings over long periods of time, tend to cause something called "leather butt"...where in the skin is damaged so often, so frequently, that the skin starts to loose some of its elasticity and actually takes on the appearance of leather, much like anyone who spends lots of their lives out in the sun.  Repeated damage over a long period equals funny looking skin.

Status: offline 		Bad phrasing perhaps.  I meant it more along the lines of allowing your body enough time to heal completely before doing it again.  I too use aspirin and herbs and things to help my body along, but even those cannot repair the capillaries and such that are sometimes the cause of such lovely bruises, especially the deep ones.  So even if the arnica and aspirin help to minimize or even eliminate the visibility of the bruising, the underlying tissues and such would still require time to heal completely.  :)

wow you have been thru alot, i sure hope it don't ever get "clots" but i am afraid i am developing leather butt. i do rub lubiderm lotion all over my body head to toe, especially on my arse, breast, knees, elbows and feet. i also use a fresh lemmon on my elbows and heels after a bath. speaking of baths i just love sea salts they make your skin so soft.

Well it looks like everyone like Arnica................are there any other options? methods? products? that people have used and it worked? I can't remember if i have or have not used Arnica, I think i did on the pill form, guess i will try the ointment. Any other suggestions?

Status: offline 		Some herbal remedies do not mix well with prescribed medications. Does anyone know if there are contraindications with Arnica and blood pressure and diuretic meds? I know I should ask my pharmacist, but I wonder how many of them are educated about the risks of herbal meds mixed with prescribed meds? One would hope they are well versed in that matter. However, I am wary of how much they are trained in regards to homeopathic treatments/therapies versus prescription medications.

Status: offline 		If you take arnica internally, there is a risk of raised blood pressure.  I would not recommend asking a pharmacist (I used to find blank looks when I did so), but I would recommend speaking to a person who works in a place that sells herbal remedies as they know the side effects better.  Better still - just ask your doctor.  You could always take a herbalist course yourself.
 
All herbal medications carry a risk to something somewhere - just as normal medication does.
As I said before, midwives recommend arnica for childbirth.  However, they aren't foolproof and you should always be aware of the risks of anything you take.

Lol, i know for a fact Erin is at work this morning so i am going to jump in ( erin,feel free to throw a pie at me another time).
 
For me it halves the healing time. I prefer the creams though with all the anti inflammatorys i live on.

Status: offline 		Yup it halves the time for me as well.  And for me that means one week for standard bruises rather than two and three weeks for deep welts rather than 6.
