Why does it seem that everyone on this thread views the Mexican drivers differently than the US Drivers? As the poster above me states:
quote:

It IS the drivers we need to worry about.  Shit for training, drunk/stoned/amped driving, no regard for hours of operation...
This would differ from U.S. truck drivers in what significant fashion?
Amen thompsonx.

As for numbers and studies; they can be made to say anything, and you can find numerous studies that will tell you drivers from Mexico are in fact more efficient than U.S. drivers..

This and the other post about Mexicans stealing jobs are really causing me to become distraught. Is there really that much bigotry/discrimination against Mexicans here?

Troubled,

Jayson

Jay, I don't think so, rather against illegal aliens and our govt for failing to secure that border and enforce our immigration laws.
I'm of Irish descent, I'd arrest and deport the illegal Irish aliens first, just to set the example.
If a woman is absolutely gorgeous and wants to fuck me silly but she's an illegal then it's "get the fuck out!"

Sinergy, agreed, we're going to get rid of Lindsey Graham in this state for voting "for" Bush's amnesty bill!
In my opinion it's probably going to be Romney on the Republican side so Hillary is going to have an uphill battle.
And, tonight I hear that the Teamsters filed a temporary injunction to keep Mexican truckers on their side of the border.

Call your Congressmen and Senators and tell them to get us OUT of Nafta.
It was a COLOSAL MISTAKE!

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I suspect you could have spelled it better.

The way the NAFTA treaty is written if the truck is legally licensed in Mexico the DOT cannot inspect it as they can with US licensed vehicles.

Are you saying these trucks won't be subject to the scales, Rope?  This I haven't heard and find very difficult to believe.  There is certainly no such exclusion for Canadian trucks.

They will still have to pass over the scales to be weight legal, but they will not be pulled around for safety inspections.
