I am from minnesota, who might they be in danger of losing it to?

there will be a decidedly democratic congress, unless I miss my guess.

To be quite honest, I'm not good for the money, because the money I spend (and I tend to spend a lot, like the completely spoiled brat I am ), isn't mine to spend. I would estimate my personal liquid wealth at about $50, three cats, two kittens, and half a case of SKYY vodka.

Oh, and I have some Ron Paul posters that will be worth something in a few years.

Both of them are lawyers in the pursuit of personal and political power, who will support anything that gets them elected.

Thompson gave up his seat, not running for re-election, becasue he promised to serve only two terms. That doesn't sound like somone lusting for power. Not only that but he has documented his positions very well so he won't be able to suddenly change his position to suit some popular fad without being able to be called on it. (like pretty much they all do)

Well obviously the GOP sees something in Minnesota. They are targetting that state, that's why they are having the GOP convention up there.

Kerry only won Minnesota by 3% of the vote in 2004.

Darus, I agree with your assesment on Wudy, he really should be running as a Democrat.
I don't know one person who plans to vote for him. Not one.
And, he didn't do very well last night.
And Hillary is no spring chicken either.
She must be kissing 60.

LOL, not so....

Minnesota lobbied to get the convention many years ago for its own stature as a player, and has nothing to do with the current events surrounding this campaign.

Oh, I'm sure you know as much about him as the next lumpen...

Did you also know that he had abandoned that promise and announced he was running for another term, before moving his sights up to the next level?

I didn't think so.

My nightmare is a Hillary / Rudy ticket. I don't see how it could lose...but fortunately for us "little people" those two towering egos couldn't abide by it.

Rudy may not be all that conservative... but he's no Hillary. There is no way he teams up with Hillary.

It's just as bad as in 2004 when Kerry was trying hard to get McCain to be his running mate. And McCain was rumored to respond, "Are you out of your f---ing mind?"

If the Republicans play their "Moral Values" card which card will the Democrats play?
Their "we will lift you out of poverty" card again?
They've been playing that card for the last 40 years with no results.

Another Presidential Candidate <yyaaaawwwwwnnnn>

If it took Thompson this long just to decide to run how long will it take hime to make a really Presidential decision? Like whether to play golf or visit the farm back home for the weekend?

Take a look back at previous Presidential campaign seasons.  This year they all started several months earlier than before.  In the past, labor day weekend was when the campaigns started in earnest.  Thompson isn't late to the game, he just decided to start when it usually begins, not earlier like the others.

IMO, this was a carefully calculated move.  People are already getting sick of the rhetoric and of hearing the same names over and over again for so many months.  By coming into the fray right now he will get a helluva boost just by being the new guy on the block, he will offer a bit of relief from the other candidates who already have high negatives just from starting the campaign season so early.

The last poll I saw had Thompson right up near the front of the pack, even before he announced officially.

If it were to come down to Thompson vs. Hillary, he would kick her ass in a national election simply because of her extremely high negatives.

Yeah, the Democrats love to play class warfare.

John Edwards said if he's elected, he'll eliminate poverty. Of course he doesnt seem to have any idea how that is going to happen but he says he'll do it so I guess we should believe him and just accept our mandatory doctor visits.
