I don't wear a lot of leather- mainly because, to recycle a joke DarkDaddy beat me to, it'd take a lot of dead cows, and dead cows cost dead presidents- but I love what I have. My leather jacket is finally getting to second skin level, where all the newness has worked out of it and it's just the most comfortable thing in the world. My "extra height" boots have finally formed into the perfect shape, where I can barely tell I'm wearing shoes. I have a brand new flogger that still smells really strongly, and I've been taking breaks all day to just sniff it.

So yeah, I like leather. The smell and the look are the best parts for me, although I can't really say it's in any way sexual.

Yes. And so often, from those you least expect.

Smoking Gun:
When I first started wanting to wear leather I was always afraid of not being able to find my size, or being able to find things in my size.  Around 1998 I discovered a website called Jammin' Leather which is a biker shop located in Myrtle Beach, SC. (I'm not sure if it's okay to post URL here so I'd recommend googling it if you're interested). I use them almost exclusively. It's not the high grade cow others design from but it works for me.  In 2002 I finally made a trip to their store and I almost made a messy!

DarkDaddy,

I've been by that shop a few times- I spent quite a bit of time in Myrtle Beach during my high school/college days. If only I had known when it wasn't a twenty three hour drive away...

Thanks for the tip!

Do you like leather?

Why?

I like the smell of new leather (instantly pushes my buttons) and the feel of old leather. The different sources of leather make for so many differing sensations and I haven't yet come across one which doesn't appeal to either my inner slut or masochist.

Why do I like it?  Haven't a clue. I like butter brickle ice cream, too and artichokes are my favorite veggie but Himself hates them. Just a matter of taste I suppose.

OK ok, I admit, I like belts. Even if they are vinyl, so it is what they represent (or the shape? who knows why?) or that they were leather when I was a kid.

But leather in a clothing context..yuk, it is too cliche and bdsm-wannabe/tv show if a guy was wearing all leather. I'd be embrassed to be in public with that type.

I'm a vegetarian, but I really love leather. It's a conflict, but I live with it.

whats really annoying is self righteous vegans who wear leather shoes and sheep skin coats and lecture you for eating a steak...

Me too! I am not a vegan (I'm pretty much the world's laziest vegetarian), and I can't stand being lectured about my love of leather. I just stay a wee bit lower on the food chain, is all.

I love leather, love love LOVE it!

I love the smell.....omg a shoe store or saddle shop is heaven. Even as a little girl I loved the smell. Used to love getting new shoes once a year just to smell that smell.

I have a dozen different leather jackets, a couple of skirts and a pair of smooth leather and several suede pants. We will not even begin to discuss shoes....

My sofa and loveseat are leather.......heaven to lounge on naked.

I am going to buy a new car and that is one of the requirements, leather interiour.

Now I think I need a big full skin to wrap up in after reading about it..................fortunately it will not be hard to find.

LT......do you have to growl at the sales people when they start looking at you expectantly and sighing loudly and tapping their foot while you're smelling and groping the leather shoes too?? or do you not do that in the store...

hehe...i remember being in someone elses hotel room at an event, not even thinking about it, picked up their boot and smelled the inside of it...well i spent the next 10 minutes blushing while they and a couple of other people laughed at me...it smelled good dang it...i can't help it that where my head landed when i plopped on the bed was where they took off their boots the night before...speaking of events...i dont have a hotel room for the end of this month reserved yet...whoops? i should probably do that huh?

oh and glad to be of assistance with the idea of the big full skin to wrap up in....

chelle, I have never noticed them being annoyed at me for fondling the leather......but it could be because I am preoccupied...

Do I like leather?
Do I like being able to breathe?

Black, smooth cowhide jacket - rough, tan cowhide gloves - black suede boots - german harness leather... I like it all.
Not so keen on patent though. Too shiny.

i like going to the leather factory...they don't bother me at all and they have concrete floors so when i make little puddles on their floor they don't mind....and generally i walk in the door, inhale the scent and make a little puddle...then walk around making little puddles...of course i always wear a skirt when i go in...i have been tempted to dive into the scraps bin...i don't think the employees would mind but the other customers have cell phones and they would call the men in the white coats to come take me away....

ewwwwwww.... leather.

It's textural for me... something just doesn't feel as right with leather as does denim or cotton or anything. Maybe it's leftovers from being a vegan all those years ago.
