While there are probably aspects of my day to day life that could be considered submissive I do not wear this nature of mine out in the world where it can get scratched or otherwise damaged. I keep it tucked in close to me.. It is only when I am with Master that I know I am safe and can be myself. Otherwise you'll find me wearing a mask of pseudo (I think that's how it is spelled) dominance .. in my day to day interactions with people..I seem to take the more active role in what happens how and when.. someones gotta do it..  I am a massage practitioner when I have to work.. not a high stress kind of work..
To those that I have submitted to it was because I  felt and in some manner responded to the strong dominant presence..I am what I am.

I suppose that there are those who might enjoy submitting for the reasons you outlined at the onset, however such is not the case for me.  Submission is a part of my nature which I find meaningful to explore and experience.  Within the sphere of intimacy, I find it very natural to be a pleaser and submission to a Dominant woman is something I find value and meaning in.  Yet I am not submissive in many other aspects of my life and in fact generally am regarded a leader in my work and other social interactions.

For me at least if I am unowned i get very very formal and submissive but once I am owned I have a hard time staying formal and submissive to other people unless my Mistress is there or tells me to be like that to other people. There are plenty of subs/slaves that are Dominant to other people except their Mistress/Dom and who They decided that the sub/slave should be formal with.

For me, personality has NOTHING to do with your orientation.  Your orientation is how you want the dynamics in your personal intimate relationships to work, nothing less, nothing more.

I submit because it's how I am with my personal intimate relationships.  It has nothing to do with any other relationships I have with anyone else.

Right! People would be surprised that I'm a sub. I'm hard headed, I don't back down. lol

You can never submit truly without a 'true" Dom/domme!

It's a challenge, isn't it?  I think there is something to the idea about people in powerful positions needing the release.  I am a lawyer and have found a great need to give up that control, but it's not like I can get a "fix" of it and the feeling goes away.  If anything, it gets stronger.

Anyone meeting me would think me a very strong, dominant personality.

First off, allow me to say hello from the male half of the Tarantuladoll profile.  I usually go by Rigel online.

I am a little new to the BDSM scene, and usually describe myself as a switch.  However (as my wife seems to have posted a few times already), we have lately discovered that I seem to take more enjoyment as being the submissive in the relationship.

Now, I have heard some terms thrown around by the general population such as "submissive personality" and "easily dominated" which are usually stated in terms of an entire person.  To me, that seems an oversimplification.   For example, I do not have what most would consider a submissive personality.  I tend to dominate my other relationships (friendships, ect) and am used to being in charge. My last job was a fire team leader in the military.  My current job is similar but different (and the reason I do not have a picture online).

Now, I  have also heard the idea thrown around that people in high-stress jobs seek submission as an escape.  Again, I'm not sure that is true.  I  enjoy the authority and responsibility in my life.  And as my relationship is  with my wife  I am not really sure that would qualify as an escape.

So my question to all of you submissives is this:  Why do you submit, and how does it fall in line with the rest of your personality / relationships / life / job.

I don't consider myself very submissive at all.  I'm dominant in most of my work and social situations, and easily in vanilla romantic ones, though I don't enjoy it that way, it just ends up happening because I have a strong personality, but then I lose interest and move on, unsatisfied.  I presented myself as a submissive while looking, only because I wanted a dominant man.  But naturally I'm not submissive, though I just don't feel sexually and emotionally satisfied with any less than a man much stronger and more dominant than myself.  To him though, I can be very submissive and longing to please because he is strong enough to keep me and that strength draws out those qualities in me, out of  loyalty, love, and respect for his strength.  I can also still be a ferocious little tigress ;) but that pleases him too.
