Do you remember where you were when it happens, what were you doing?

i was on the way to work in the city when my car wasn't acting right so i got off the parkway and was in the parking lot of a shoping center, at a duncum doughnuts, eating a doughnut and drinking coffee with my then 4 yr old, we were waiting for my father to pick us up when i heard the news over the radio.  As it turned out they let the kids out that day so i would have gone home once i got to work.

I was headed back to my work site from a local school when I heard about it on the radio.  (it had just happened seconds before)

When I got back to work I relayed what I heard, shortly afterwards customers came in and relayed the updates.

I was at work in an office when one of my colleagues told us that an airplane was reported to have flown into one of the WTC towers. It was about four o'clock in the afternoon at our time if I recall correctly.

At that moment I had the impression that it was a relatively small airplane and did consider it no more than a minor incident. It was only when I got home about 45 minutes later and activated the television and saw the first tower collapse that I realized that is was more than a minor incident.

On my way to my office on the 97th floor of WTC II. My partner and friend re-scheduled a 8:30 a.m. meeting in the conference room for an 11:30 tee time. I was on my way to pick him up driving on the NJ turnpike between exit 10 & 11.

Sorry we missed our tee time Rick. I hope you are saving one for me when I see you again!

I was getting ready to start 2 week`s vacation at my cousin`s house on the Jersey shore. What a clear and pleasant morning it was.I was surfing the TV, waiting for my g/f to pick me up,when I saw the one tower ablaze.I wasn`t sure at 1st,what is was.So I flipped around and realized it was live.At that moment,I saw the other jet fly into the 2nd tower.

Instead of waiting for my girlfriend to come up,I just walked to her house a block away,to be w/ her.On my way there,I saw an elderly couple, who greeted me w/ a nice hello and an"ist`n it a beautiful morning".

Out of sheer disgust(not at them),I just said,"yeah right, you must be kidding"and scowled at them.I could have handled that better.

From there I went to my best friends house, who works in Manhattan, 2 or 3 days a week. That day,he was directly across the river, in Jersey City, and watched everything from there.

On my way to work there was barely a blurb on the radio about a plane MAYBE hitting a building in new york. I barely heard it and there wasn't another wisper about it for the several minutes it took to get to work. I rushed into work not even sure I heard what I did. I work in a hospital and spent the next few hours watching things unfold on the ER's tv.

I was at work...my husband called me and i turned on an old black and white tv that was there.  I remember thinking as i heard the pentagon had just gotten hit, omg...we are under attack! as an American, for me personally, it was just devastating. My heart broke in two that day.

having lived in a muslim country, i turned on the news and saw what was going on and cried, i woke my older children and told them, that " "they" had brought a war to the free land, and it will never be the same.... ", then we lit candles and began to mourn.

I was at work, had just spent a lovely night before with a woman that I finally asked to marry me at 5:38 that morning in the middle of the coffeehouse that I owned in Indianapolis. And she said yes. I was in such a great mood that I bypassed my usual habit of turning on NPR and instead put in some mix discs and was rocking out and having a great time. I was fully on top of the world...

A customer came in and was telling me that a plane had crashed into WTC. I asked him silly questions, thinking it was a small plane like a Cessna... Finally, wound up just turning on the TV just in time to see the other plane hit live.

Since a number of my regulars worked at Lilly or United, it became a gathering place for a number of them when they were sent from work. What was really creepy was that the Thelemite community started seeing meaning in United 93 being involved. And then the hippy-trippy ultra-pacifist pagan folk wanted to do a ritual curse against those responsible... For that night, it just seemed like everyone lost their minds a bit.

T*** took it as an omen and we didn't marry. Instead, she chose to shack up with a woman she'd been seeing on the side for the last 3 months...

I was in gym class, getting ready to go to my next class, waiting for the bell to ring. Another kid (a classmate and friend) came into the gym and told us what happened. I didn't believe it (he was the type of kid who played pranks. At the time, I had hoped it was a joke anyway).

It wasn't until 5th period that I was able to get the real news. My sophomore english class had a TV (I went to public school, so not every classroom had a TV available), so we were able to watch the news coverage.

The reality of it didn't hit me until a couple days later. I was in shock, and it finally hit me when I was watching one of the memorials, with all the people and the candles.

I was at work, and on a break at the time.  The company had TV's in the cafeteria and I was watching it as they broke in and showed the first plane hit the the tower.  We all sat there stunned and continued to grow a crowd who watched it all unfold. Very little work was done that day, and we wre told to go home around 2.

I was talking on the phone to my Dominant at the time, about 10:30am. He told me what had happened, and to go turn on my tv. I absolutely could not believe what I saw when I did.

Note: Wow, Mercnbeth, that was close!

I was on the phone speaking to a friend in canada when he was informed and then told me he was cutting the call short to go find out more.  I turned on my local news (BBC) and watched the events unfold.

I was at work, one of the supervisors had just logged into the Internet and saw images of the first plane at the time we all thought it was a freak accidnet.  When more news came in I left work to pick my daughter up from school and took her home, when I got back to work they had closed our site down as we are under a major flight path.

I was at home (( I was home scholed at the time)) And was watching my morning dose of CNN when the news broke.  After the second plane hit I burst into tears and watched the updates for the rest of the day and ignored my schoolwork.  I still feel the sadness as much now as then...

It was roughly 6 am my time and I was online playing some games while simultaneously chatting.  Someone said there had been an explosion at the WTC in NY and they mentioned a terrorist must have bombed the building.  I'm originally from the east coast and have friends and family who live in NY, PA and DC.  I immediately turned on the TV to see what was going on, and then saw the 2nd plane fly into the South Tower.

I'm not a church goer-I don't even believe in god.  That day, I was in church, mourning our country, mourning the lives of the many who perished.  I donated blood, gave away blankets, anything I could do to help and none of it took away the devistation I felt.

Today, I watched "Flight 175" and another show detailing the events at the Pentagon that day.  All of those emotions flooded within me once more.

To any of you who lost a friend, or a loved one, my heart goes out to you.

I was in the locker room talking to a few friends before our next class.  Not 3 minutes later I was in my next class, the tv was blaring and we were staring at the screen in horror.  None of us could believe what was happening.  I went to the main office after that for my next "class" and ended up spending the rest of the day there taking calls from parents who wanted their kids home, and the parents of foreign exchange students who wanted to know what was up, and if their kids were in danger.  I remember still having band practice after school because our band director didnt wanna risk us missing the competition that weekend, and us telling him that we werent going to practice.  Pretty much, everything after that is a blur.  Except coming home to an empty house, scared, confused, and terrified at every noise the house made.  Its weird that after 6 years, I can remember every detail, and thinking about it is still like an open wound made just moments ago...

I was in class when the first plane hit. I had a break between classes, so I went back to the dorms, and I noticed that every single TV seemed to be showing the same thing, at least as far as I could tell from the three second glimpse into open doors. I went into my room and turned on the television, just a few minutes before the second plane hit. The coverage was still assuming it was an accident when I started watching.

The eeriest part of the day, to me, was going to my afternoon class. Fayetteville, where I went to college, is home to Fort Bragg, and roughly half the students at the college (or it seemed) were military. About six minutes into class vibrating pagers started going off, and people just got up and left. By the end of the day campus was almost completely deserted. It was a really strange, really disconcerting addition to the day.

I was trying to comfort my horrified flight attendant girlfriend as she watched the TV stations play the explosions in a loop, and listening to a family member complain because he could not fly himself to an air show.

Kill me now.

I was out of town attending a week long certification course.  It was during class that a gentleman in the room took a call on his cell phone at the back of the room.  Shortly after, he interrupted the class to tell everyone that the WTC had possibly been attacked.  He gave what little information that he had at that time before the instructor insisted that we return to our studies.

I don't remember how long it was before we took a break, but the instructor did bring in one of the school's audio/video carts and the television was able to pick up a local station so that we could watch the news.

That break not a single person left the room and we stayed glued to the television in utter and eerie silence.  It was near the end of that break that the first tower collapsed.

Needless to say, we were all quite upset when the instructor turned off the television and expected us to return to OSHA regulations.  It was, however, only a week long course and we had a lot of material to cover.

The rest of the day we watched the news during our breaks and struggled to concentrate on what we were trying to learn while feeling a surreal sense of disbelief and devastation.
