My SO is moving here to live with me after being long distance for almost a year. I am so excited but also nervous. Was hoping to hear others experience with this situation. This is my first D/s relationship. What if I disappoint him? Can I submit like I do when we visit each other on a regular basis? Will reality of living together be like the fantasy I've had all this time. What if I can't do all the things we have talked about? What if the things I do when we were together are too much to handle everyday?  I know no one can answer these questions for me. Just wonder if others had these fears as well. Thank you in advance.

You think too much-do.

I just looked and saw you're in New Hampshire. Buy him his own snow shovel and ice chipper. Coming from Manhattan, he may never have used one in his life. And your winters will be a shock! Eddie Bauer catalog for long underwear?

Quite honestly, learning to shovel snow without blistering your hands or getting a heart attack takes a while. As does cutting wood for the wood stove, operating a splitter, driving in snow and ice.

Plastic snow shovels are a joke, get metal ones. And go shopping for them, and metal ice chippers now. They run out early. It's a very warming exercise so you may be surprised to find yourself stripping down to just pants and sweaters, but always have on a hat and gloves. Frostbite is no joke. Thick insulated gloves allow you to shovel without blistering. Scarves to prewarm the air entering your mouth and nose, or balaclavas which are designed for this and can be used for kidnapping scenes since you can't see anything but their eyes.

If you have a lot of driveway, investigate a snow blower. At the very least, find someone to plow you. Now is not too early to be added to the plow list.

Power will go out when you get an ice storm. Bread, peanut butter, jelly for three days. A gas grill with a burner allows you to cook real food and make coffee in the morning.

Sounds like it will be a learning experience for both of you.

Just in terms of my own relationship (non D/s) I would say the first few months we lived together were the hardest.  I didn't know if we'd make it through adjusting to it... the difficulty of combining our everyday lives and all our stuff.  There are so many compromises you need to make when you live with someone.  But most of them are little things... where you will keep the batteries, how often you clean the tub, etc.  Don't get bogged down in little arguments.  Hold tight and ride it out and you'll soon settle into a new life together that is uniquely yours.
