I haven't thought of a name for him yet.
But, after I had to replace a mattress and wash clothes that he relieved himself on I'm thinking seriously about "Shithead."
He's wild! He runs across the room and jumps up and climbs about three quarters of the way up the door jam!
He still runs away whenever I get close to him.
He's just too fast to catch!
He basically hid under the couch for the first week that he was here.
Him and Bubba get along very well though.
I wanted him as company for Bubba when I'm not here.
I was thinking the other day how am I going to take him to the Vet's if I can't catch him?
Maybe I should get a net!

We who keep ferrets have always said our little ones went over the 'rainbow bridge' when they passed.

Two of mine have gone that way in the last couple months: Rikitikitavi (Riki) my little sable girl was almost 8, and had insulinoma and adrenal disease. She fought passing for a long time, but finally let go. Last week my big sable boy Lord Tuffington (Tuff) passed on, he had glaucoma, adrenal disease, and insulinoma. He suffered greatly in the last day before his passing, but is at peace now.

They are survived by my cinnamon panda boy, Genma, my albino boy, Podo, and my little sable girl, Mookie, as well as our Ragdoll cat, Meggie.

a dear friend sent me this when i lost my furbaby, razor, back in july.....

A Dog’s Plea

SeeksOnlyOne: This is beautiful. It made me cry. I could never hit an animal. I think if I saw someone do that deliberately to hurt one, I would maybe physically attack them, it would just make me so mad.

Last Summer I saw this bratty kid, who was about ten years old, throwing peanuts into the Crocodile pit at the zoo, to hit them and taunt them. I screamed at him, and told him he was a little _sshole, and no credit at all to his parents, and that if he had his own pet, he certainly didn't deserve it.

I told him if he didn't stop it, I would get someone to help me throw him in there, so the Croc could have its way with him. He wasn't nice to me about doing that, or happy I said it - BUT - he did quit doing it. He is probably some budding serial killer, IMO...

Susan,

Sorry to hear such a sweet lady has lost a dear friend. Reading stories like this always brings me back to a day in my childhood when my families, German Sherpard, puppy nearly died from swallowing a rubber band. You've never seen such a hysterical bunch of people. We were wailing and like maniacs as we watched my mother and father trying to dislodge the band from our sweeties throat. Thank goodness, on that day, our pet survived. But I can easily relate that pain when reading about someone's loss of their pet. Of course that temporary feeling can't come close to your pain of the actual loss. Again, so sorry for your loss.

Susan, I doubt the crocodile even felt them.
Their skin is so tough that the only animal that can bite through it (tear it) is a hyena that has something like 800 lbs of pressure per square inch in it's bite.
And you can't "bother" a crocodile like a cat or dog.
It's primitive reptilian brain can't register anything like "emotion."
They are "super predators" and the only thing it was probably "thinking" was how to eat that boy and you too!
We have them right here where I live.
One time about two years ago a neighbor lady and I were out by a big pond on a golf course and she was taking a picture of a six footer in the pond with his head sticking out of the water and I noticed that he was *ever so slightly* getting closer!
I told her to step back from the edge of the pond.
People don't realise how *dangerous* those things are!
That gator was looking at her as "lunch."
I was carrying a gun but I didn't want to let the situation escalate to a point where I'd have to use it.
Just 3 days ago a diver down in Charleston had his arm bitten off by a gator! The only reason he survived was that there was a large group of people having a picnick nearby and 5 of the group were Nurses.
The Police shot the gator and recovered his arm from his stomache but Doctors were unable to save it, too much damage.
You can't treat reptiles, sharks or insects or a lot of other "creatures" like we do our pets.
They're in a whole different realm of the animal kingdom.
There is no "hate" or "love" in them.
They function on "instinct" alone.
So you really can't "abuse" them like a pet.
The best thing you can do with creatures like that is to stay away from them!
We have a place not too far from here called "Alligator Adventure" that has about a hundred of them in captivity.
When you see a gator that's about 14 feet long and 1,500 pounds you can see why they are called "super-predators."
They don't care or even have the capacity to "know" or "care" what we think, they only want to kill and eat us.
Oh, and the only difference between a crocodile and an alligator is the snout. Crocks have a narrower snout.

popeye1250: I know that (but thanks for the information anyway, it's comforting to hear) - my point was that the kid had mean and bad intent. He thought he was hurting the animal, and it was obvious he wanted to do it. Whether or not he could have done it was immaterial to me, because I thought his trting to do it, indicated he was a nasty kid. That is why I told him to stop it. If he carries that attitude back to some other animal that could be hurt by him (which it seemed to me was highly likely) he could really hurt them. And there also might come a day some animal just eats or injures him, instead - because he is treating them that way. I wish he was here to listne to your lecture on Crocs - and maybe a trip to Alligator Adventure, with some real "up close and personal" experience with an Alligator or a Croc, would mkae him change his ways, I dunno.

Skarredwolfpuppy: I hope so. I like to think so. Guess I don't get to find out until I die - but I do think we see our pets again. I think that Christmas Eve Story is charming, regardless of the truth of it.
