buy some lottery tickets, 500 won't get you much in any stocks, 'specially expecting short-term higher return.

no decent investment branch will even talk to you for less than 3-7 g's. lol.

exactly!   you can do well with a tiny bit of money but like most here i am stuck trying to come up with a viable platform for hi gain and 500 bucks.  The cheapext place i know of requires about 2500 just to open a magin account.  Pretty much anything hi gain with that little money and no leverage is like throwing the dice.   Maybe that is the best answer!  LOL

yeah, Vegas is the answer.  Anything that quick and high risk is just that.  Most likely the fund will bottom out.

My ex trades 950bil/yr, his firm only takes no less than 300 per customer (for personal/family funds, or upwards of millions for corp/pension funds etc.

Just the time alone it takes to do the paperwork for such a small amount, he could be analyzing a different market. He also writes for the Finacial Post on reg basis. Each half page article he needs an entire day off for to make sure his facts are in order.  That alone pays more than 500/day.

Yeah, that was pretty much my thought... $500, high risk, high gain, short time frame = casino or sports book.

Although, i recently purchased an older, non-running motorcycle for $500, and have gotten more than $1000 out of parts sales in a little more than a week... Got any wrenches?

Yeah, I got that girly tool kit he bought me. lol, Lost one socket under the fridge though.  No way in hell I can ever get that one again.

I've never been within 10 feet, maybe 20 of a motorcycle.  OMG, that is one reason why I am glad summer is over. NO NOISE!

Any shares I have, my ex takes care of, so I have no idea what is there.  As for the bling bling, I rid of it, just having it around is too risky for me.  I don't live in the best neighborhood lol.

By big brother BountyHunter, do you mean the risk involved in the stock market in general? or the tax man???

if the amount is more than 5000, look at purchasing an option called a put.  It will allow you to sell a stock to someone at a  set price already predetermined.  there may besome out there for a couple of hundred dollars.  when the stock reaches that number you can force someone to buy the stock at that price.  (of course you will have to buy the stock at a lower price to sell it and make money)  that is how people can make money in a down market
if you have further questions. email directly

Thanks, DarkStrongMaster.
Kinkbound, My idea of a rapid gain would be $500 on a sector fund and risk it for hitting a " homerun" with maybe triple the gain.
I am not speculating, nor am I playing with the idea!
I am deadly serious, just looking for the best way to go with what little I have.  All the jokes about lottery and vegas just wash down the drain.

High risk means just that. High risk. I hope you have a plan "B". In all probably your $500 will disappear. If you can't afford to pay, it's wise not to play.. michael

They both are equally bad smiles...I like to have some thing close at hand liquid where taxes come later....The market was good but I see long term as not a place to have my meager saving tied up...bh
