My Mother and Father when I was growing up had some interesting toys in their closet.  I suspect my mom was the sub because she's always been very submissive to her husband and served him.  My Master's Father owns a BDSM club and his brother is a dom as well.  My brother I recently found out has a profle on here and is submissive. I think on a subconcious level you notice these things as a child and xhibit them later on in life in your own relationship.  I think we inherit certain personalities through our genes.

I do agree there are subliminal patterns we can pick up along the way.  I know my dad was kinky.  I know my mom was frigid.  I suspect my sister spent some time as a phone dom (she is both horny and money needy).  But I would never say that I am "X"th generation dom or sub.  Why?  Because to say that implies that I was taught to be what I am, directly.  Or that the household I grew up in was open about their sexual activity.  And dang.. I cannot imagine my parents generation being that open about anything!
The acquaintence I know who was openly presenting himself as a master while his young daughters were around did influence them, helped form their ideas into dominantion and submission.  Classified his eldest daughter as a dominant, and his youngest as submissive.
If they continued on with that as they became adult, I would say yes, they are "X"th generational ds'rs.
The rest of us just may found something familar and went with it.
