It does sort of interest me,however those that do, are largely people whom I see within these forums which leads me to believe people who come here are interested to know the person behind the post like me.

What do I do,well nothing unless I am in the mind for a bit of fun whereby I look at the person who viewed me and see if they come back which has happened on a number of occaisions.Sometimes that does result in a conversation or two which can't be bad.

Then there is the 'eek', the name 'moderator eleven' that appears followed by the wondering what caused that.

(I wonder if mod 11 does that now and again for the fun of it, I know I would in that position)

I look at profiles because I can. The "why" is varied from..."damn she is hot I want to know more about her" to "sheesh what an idiot this guy seems to be.... let me look and see if I can find some redeeming quality" or, "WOW, I guess he/she is not as big a putz, or IS a bigger idiot, than I previously thought!"

Often times the person's words in the forums catch my eye for better or worse, and I want to read the profile/journal to try and get a better feel of where they are coming from.

I rarely look at the "who is viewing me" thing. Never think about it to be honest......until now of course......

What reasons do you have for viewing another's full profile?

i rarely view another's full profile since i have no reason lately

quote:

What do you do when you see someone's name appear on the "Who's Viewing Me" list?

before meeting my SO here, i would only view the straight male dominant profiles because i wasn't interested in meeting bi or straight dommes or fem/dom couples - women do nothing for me.  though i have always wondered why many of them would view a straight woman's profile who obviously doesn't fit in what they're looking for.

now i merely perv those weird named doms just to see what they're all about

To get ideas.  For amusement.  I have friends at cm and we often perve profiles and pass them on to each other, it's fun to read profiles and journals.

I don't do anything about them. Most the time I don't even look at the who's veiwing me.

Along the lines of the "Is "hi" enough to respond to? " thread, I'm wondering what you do about all those names that appear when you press the "Who's Viewing Me" button on the other side of CM.

So I am curious:

What do you do when you see someone's name appear on the "Who's Viewing Me" list?

Ohhhhhh, I looked at my "who's viewing me" and I found lots of straight female dominants! I wonder, should I be offended? ORRR better yet, write them and offer to convert them over to the other side? A couple of them were pretty good looking. I could tell them they would look really hot licking my sneakers. Ya think they would write back?!?!? Huh huh, do ya???

They are vast...Sometimes I pass other folks profiles to my pals out here.... I might say something like, ""2handedfistfuck" contacted me and they wanted to know if you are interested in exchanging numbers?"

Or, because the person's avatar is really hot and hopefully they have some good porn pics awaiting in their profile....Or, because they are really gross.  Or, because they have written something in the forums that has pissed me off and I am curious as to how long of a drive would I face to get the opportunity to personally confront them and get an explanation as to how they could write something so horrible. Or, because they live in the area and seem to be someone that might possibly be tolerable to meet.

What reasons do you have for viewing another's full profile?

A) Get a better look at their profile picture instead of the tiny one here in the forums
B) See how someone is doing if they update their journals
C) Learn more about them

Generally... nothing.

Valyraen and I check the pink names to see if any of them could be a match for us but that is it. Sometimes I wonder why they were looking at me but I don't spend a lot of time on it.

1.  I am most likely to view a profile after I read a post from someone on these Message Boards that either amuses me or seems to have expressed insight on the subject at hand.

2.  I assume that many of my "views" are similarly generated, since there seems to be a rush of them after I've posted.  That means that I do not routinely see a "view" of my profile to be an invitation to write to the viewer.  However, if there is something in their post or profile that really caught my attention, I'll drop a short note saying something like "What you said about such-and-such got me thinking"...and explain how it interested me.

I open full profiles to check the date they joined.

Boredom, curiosity.

the ones that view me, I don't pay much attention to that. If they write (and make sense) I reply, if not, they can lurk all they want. Glad I provided 48 seconds of entertainment.

FR:   There are three reasons I view someone's full profile from the "who's viewing you" page:

1.  They viewed me, and I'm curious who they are, or

2.  They wrote something interesting on these message boards, and I want to know more about them, or

3.  The pertinent reason re: this thread:   They post such amazingly stupid drivel that I am compelled to learn more about them so as to avoid contact and add them to the "should not be allowed to reproduce in this lifetime" list.

Why I view a profile:

Mostly to get a better perspective of whom the person is if they have posted something on the message board or written me. Sometimes just basic things like whether they are dominant or submissive and male or female. Sometimes their words whether interesting or puzzling to see if to take them seriously or best to just ignore.

I also viewed profiles from all types when I first posted mine in order to see what I liked and what I didn’t.

I will also clicked on one if they come up when I sign in and the picture or words are interesting to me just for enjoyment.

Yes toservez, I do it for all those reasons too.
Also, in addition to that, in discussions people will say; "in this area" or , "around this part of the country" or something like that and I get curious as to where they live.
CM should allow people to put where they live on their avatars.
And then there's people on here who I find very interesting and entertaining with a good sense of humor who's profiles I look at occaisionally like Philosophy, Seeks, N.Gent, Level, Ron, Susan, toservez, lotus, Sinergy, luci, Katylied,Wyndchimes, Masterfiremaam and a WHOLE BUNCH of others.
Also the obvious, I'm a G-U-Y, I like to look at pictures of women!
And, I've been without a submissive for quite some time now so I am "looking."
It's difficult because not a lot are willing to "relocate". Seems they'd rather stay up North in the cold and high prices!

I check out a lot of people's profiles, mostly when I've seen an interesting post of theirs in the forums, or if they've changed their pic. I don't always care what their gender or orientation is, so I'm not necessarily perving them...

And although I find it interesting who to see who views me, I don't throw a hissy fit if, say, a male Dom checks me out. Sometimes I'll get into a game of 'profile view ping-pong', where I'll check out a person on my list, they'll forget they've already viewed me and click on me again, and I'll do the same and so on till we're both sick to death of each other's profiles.

I view profiles for many different reasons, the most common of which is the person posted something interesting on the message boards. An interesting handle or avatar can also prompt me to view the person's profile. A person's signature, if it's interesting, will get me to view their profile. Those are the major reasons I guess.

I typically don't do anything if someone has viewed my profile except wonder how anyone could be so masochistic as to want to view my profile . If someone adds me to their favorites, though, I will usually send a little email.

I look at profiles for all the reasons above... we are looking for suitable slave candidates and use the search function often, we like to know more about some forum posters (yep, both good and terrible posts), we tend to look at profiles of those who have looked at us and sometimes just because. There is a fair amount of information that is only available on the full profile so we use it often.

Bill and Iris

btw, we just looked at Popeye 1250's profile because he said he lived South where it was warm and cheaper... but his little listing on his post says New Hampshire....  his profile says South Carolina, anyone know how that works?

oh, and Popeye we could tell you about central Mexico where it is eternal spring and a little cheaper even than SC...

We love the "who's viewing me" tool. We average 10-15 view per day and I doubt they come to see 'Merc'. I love to tease beth about the men who come to peruse, and who do who knows what else to her pictures.

Many reasons to view profile details ranging from location near us or just to comment on the quality of their picture and/or narrative. We always look at any "couples" profile that pops up, either by viewing us or randomly, because ideally we seek to correspond with couples. The decision to contact is a function of compatibility. It is not so much what we have in common but what we don't in the "absolute" category. For instance if someone's "hard limit" is our "routine" why make contact? Its difficult enough to figure out the difference between an "expert" in water-sports and an "newbie" - Does one mean you hit what you are aiming at 100% of the time?

We also view profiles to try and glean some perspective of a post we are responding. Location, age, and the profile narrative sometimes provide insight regarding the person. We always view the profile and always send a comment to anyone adding us a "favorite". We find it curious that someone would do that and yet never even say "hi" or respond to our contact afterward.

I guess the "views" drop off after reaching a page limit or time. We have no idea how many have visited, but to date, only one visited and took the time to say "hi" and made a comment. The rest are either people we know and use CM to correspond with us, or just stop by for the visuals and/or read the journal. But that's what its there for - so we say - ENJOY!

Our problem is we've "maxed out" our picture allocation and coming back from Folsom we'll have to replace an existing picture in order to put in any new ones. Perhaps we'll set up a poll?
