I’m sitting here right now wondering if I can beat myself to death with this pencil. Just keep banging away until I get the job done. Maybe I can choke myself with this mouse? If I don’t die by Friday I’m going to have the most embarrassing day or my life. Not only that – but I feel guilty for feeling embarrassed – a double whammy.
I have worked at the same place since 99. A large place, lots of people. They are throwing a going away party for me on Friday. That’s not the bad part. The bad part is that years ago my mother worked here… and they invited her!

Who the hell has their mother’s come to a work function? I’m 39 years old! Please kill me now.

You know I can have needles pushed in me. I can take pain, humiliation, verbal humiliation, objectification, and just about anything our creative minds can come up with.

But for this?

… I’m going to need aftercare.

Actually I don't see the embarrassment. Situations are only as embarrassing as you allow them to be.
One of my fellow local kinksters brought his mom to the biggest fetishball in the country. It wasn't akward one bit. He (and she) were actually more cool in my eyes for going together.

I thought that when I introduced my daughter (a Domme' who has been in the lifestyle much longer than I) to my Master it would be awkward. Far from it. She was very pleased that her mother had finally found her niche.

Perhaps it might be easier for you to think of it as your mother showing you how proud she is of you and standing behind you in your life choices. Sometimes we are to fast to think of things in a negative light.

Good luck to you this Friday.

Master's girl- joy

hmm, to be honest, some of the best parties i've gone to my mother has been there too. But then again my mom is really open minded and easy going on most things.

Oh for heaven's sake...  Get over it.  It's a party at WORK...not a first date!

sheeeeeesh - you are one whiny person i've ever met ...i'm totally ashamed to know you're also a Chicago neighbor.

take a chill pill or a swim in the River!

there's nothing wrong having your mother at your going away party ...unless you're embarrassed that someone will air your dirty laundry to her - oh well, you shouldn't have made your wash public.

good grief

first - thanks to whichever mod moved this from the general section.

Also - I see more humor in this than embarassment really. But it is embarrassing. This is the last place I would go for any geniune sympathy.

It's funny more than anything else.

I've spent 2 hours a day for the last 3 weeks trying to teach my 77 year old mother how to use a laptop. She is very proud over the fact she now knows how to use 'the Google' and has an email account at 'the Hotmail Email'. At first I whined and tried to beg my way out of it because we don't get along very well.

Then my dom quietly said that at 77 this is a pretty big step for her and that it is wonderful of me to be helping her despite our shared history. She won't be around forever but now she can easily communicate with her grandchildren.

If you love your mother then just deal with the impending humiliation. If you detest her then suggest she go somewhere else at the time of the party. I haven't been ashamed to have a mother since I was about 15.
I hope that you simply enjoy the fact that she is able to go to the party and that she is a part of your life.

if you wanted geniune sympathy - try your mother ...like the saying goes - save the drama for your momma.

Just don't get anything on your face. She might try to clean it with spit.

Don't fret yourself over it. She may be even more embarrassed to be seen there with YOU.

Seriously, though, I just can't see the stress in this. Does she not know how to behave in public? Do you not know how? It should be fine. Be proud that she will see you surrounded by folks who evidently respect you and like you. That is what lets her know that the years she spent raising and loving you actually panned out into a functional individual.

They invited her....not you.  Time to grow up and see her as a person who actually had a life outside of being your mother.

Rough crowd. And you take things too seriously. This was clearly written as a humor piece... or did you guys actually think I was trying to beat myself to death with a pencil? Dear god people. Not every post on this forum has to become a podium for you to preach on. Lighten up. Gees.

perhaps you should re-read your original post again.

you came across as a hypochondriac screaming the sky's falling because his mother has been invited to a going away party at the job.  you sounded the same way when you posted you're falling for an older woman ...again.

*shakes head*
