i don't get off on real fear so i would have to be able to check the gun myself to make sure it was not loaded or i would not allow it to be held to my head.  People can and do make mistakes. my own brother once pointed a gun at me, right at my head, and another friend of his. He made a motion like he was going to fire and a silly sound as if it did fire and i kept telling him to NOT point it at my head. He laughed at me telling me it wasn't loaded. Well he pointed it at the wall above my infant brothers crib and pulled the trigger, to calm my fears by proving to me the gun wasn't loaded, and he shot a hole in the wall. That could have been a hole in my head or his friend's head. my brother's face turned white as a ghost. i can remember how he went over to the wall and touched the hole and then he turned to me and swore he'd kill me if i told my parents. He put a picture over it, my parents did eventually move that pic and discover what happened, he claimed ignorance and i kept my mouth shut.   i have had an aversion to guns since.

Knives...yum...more effective for me at instilling fear for that very reason - there might be an *accident*

And oowaah to being pistol-whipped, and I'd add pistol-whipped while there's a knife to my bits...  yes...please

For the record,

There are locks that can be placed on guns (handguns, rifles, etc) that actually prevent it from being loaded in the first place.  It's just a cable with a padlock that runs through the chamber.  A combination trigger lock is also an easy way to ensure that (even unloaded) there's no risk.

Having been in the Marines, I learned that an unloaded gun is no more dangerous than a baseball bat (at least to the victim; if you hold an unloaded rifle, when you think it's loaded can be VERY dangerous to YOU when facing someone with an actually loaded weapon.  But that's another story.)

But yeah, I think it's pretty hot.

Yes I know about gun locks but thank you. I just had trouble with some bits like understanding how it could work if you KNOW he wouldn't use a loaded gun. How to suspend the belief.
There is another thread about guns in Ask A Master where it is being said that there is absolutely no way to play safely while using a real gun. It's interesting..

Hubby and I both grew up around guns from a very early age and were taught from a very early age that they were not toys. We have always had a couple of loaded guns in the house. We have never even considered playing with them during a session or grabbing one during our worst  (occasional) arguements.  Our children were brought up the same way. To "play" with any gun is absolute insanity.  Most people kill their friends with an "unloaded" gun.

Having been abused and choked and threated with knives, violence takes all the fun out of the lifestyle. Go figure!

Just because the gun isn't loaded, doesn't mean my slave has to know that fact....

I struggle with this type of play because fantasy is SO hot to me...like, soak the sheets hot to me because of the power a gun represents.  However, I was taught my whole life that there is no mystery to guns; they are tools.  Powerful tools, but tools nonetheless.  I've tried to introduce this play by doing it alone at home, and I can't get past the part where I'm holding the gun in a safe direction even when it is unloaded.

It might have to be something that was introduced while I was blindfolded (so that I didn't know it was unloaded since I second the Darwin nomination for all who'd play with a loaded gun) and then went from there.

Again, I love the fantasy but it would take the desire (as well as strategic planning) of my Master to push that boundary for it to come to fruition.

It's when the top "thinks" the gun is unloaded but it really isn't that the trouble starts, as this unlucky couple discovered the hard way....

A few people here seem to like harping on the few darwin award winners who screwed up. I agree in multiple and repetitious precautions being taken with live weapons-so they aren't.  Like putting all of the live stuff OFF the premises during a scene, and rigorously checking the rest.
