Aileen68 -> RE: wal-mart...is it evil or a cult? (9/28/2007 9:25:13 PM)

Come on, she's new, it will get bumped, it's ok.

In the religion post I hijacked it complaining about my experience at wal-mart today, it is, in fact truly evil!

Shush woman, it is so related to BDSM! I mean come on: the way Wal-Mart treats their workers and mom & pop towns is truly sadistic. [:)]

It's only a store as far as I can see. Shopped there many times.

onlyHisgirl -> RE: wal-mart...is it evil or a cult? (9/28/2007 9:31:56 PM)

yes, but wal-mart is a shoppers paradise for rope, tape, clothes pins, hangers with those clamps (i recommend the metal ones with the rubber tips -- plastic hurts) uh...screw drivers...hammers...veggies...for those who like strange insertions...whatever!

PsyVamp -> RE: wal-mart...is it evil or a cult? (9/28/2007 9:33:24 PM)

LOL!  Did you ever walk through there and pick up something... say a ruler, and hold it in your hand to test its weight as a blunt object?
I've been known to walk down those aisles with my pet, and grab a fashion pillow, and hit him with it, casually putting it back in the bin...

Of course WalMart is BDSM friendly....lol

yeah, I know, he won't let me near the automotive section with him, runs somewhere else, something about heavy shiny things...lol

It's a store.  A store that many people like.  No great conspiracy theories involved.

laurell3 -> RE: wal-mart...is it evil or a cult? (9/28/2007 9:38:11 PM)

I got kicked out of a KMart in college because a friend chased me down the aisles with a chainsaw...it wasn't on....and he was wearing a halloween mask...clearly a joke...but man KMart was po'd about it!

(not that this is related to this thread...wow..)

PsyVamp -> RE: wal-mart...is it evil or a cult? (9/28/2007 9:49:46 PM)

Might just be the alcohol... I think some vanilla vodka snuck into my vanilla coke while I wasn't looking...

I'm not paranoid about it, I just hate it.  Here's my experience today that brought on the post.  I'm in a hurry and have ZERO groceries because I'm horrible at being domestic despite the fact I'm female.  I am juggling a few things in an aisle (not literally, but trying to pick up a few things at once to get out of there).  I drop two things, the stock guy standing next to me sees it, and stands about a foot away from me and watches me try to pick them up and continue to drop other things and does nothing.
Next I proceed to the frozen food section where the frozen pizza refrigerator is (my niece is a vegetarian and lives off of cheese pizza and drops by unannounced often, cheese pizza is a must have), and the thing is full, the light is off and it won't open.  I look around for someone to ask, there's noone around, so I say, fine forget the pizza.

I go up to the front line to check out where there's got to be a good 30 people waiting in line and 4 checkers despite the fact there's 30 aisles.  I get in an aisle and the older woman in front of me is doing "price comparing" which is some odd ritual of telling WalMart another store has a cheaper price, proving it and getting that price.  Sounds like a good deal huh? NO, because I'm not exaggerating when I tell you there's a good 15 people waiting for 10 minutes for this exchange due to the lack of checkers.  Finally, not wanting to miss my meeting, I leave my full cart there and walk out.  By the time I left, I wanted to do grave physical damage to someone connected to WalMart and I'm not ordinarily a violent type.
By the way PsyVamp I LOVE the slinky quote.

Wal-Mart started out like most bussinesses did. It was one person with a dream who got a $30,000 loan from a bank and then built his buisness with hopes to prosper. Yes, Wal-Mart has beaten competition. Many blame Wal-Mart for putting there companies out of buisness. But who's fault is that? A business can only prosper by consumers.

Is Wal-Mart evil? Hell, is Star Bucks evil? No and no. It's just buisness plain and simple.

HotFaerieMama -> RE: wal-mart...is it evil or a cult? (9/28/2007 11:10:40 PM)

i hate going to walmart at times other than the middle of the night.. i can never get in and out quick enough if its full of people.. and i ususally end up in the pet section looking at leashes and what not..

onlyHisgirl -> RE: wal-mart...is it evil or a cult? (9/28/2007 11:19:04 PM)

starbucks is never evil...it is a vessel of goodness and happiness and keeping me awake at work!  oh, holy Starbucks...shun those who spurn you and not your faithful drinkers!!!!

mistyeyze -> RE: wal-mart...is it evil or a cult? (9/28/2007 11:25:39 PM)

Starbuck's is only evil in that they have convinced consumers that what they sell is coffee...it is not....it is "coffee"*

*refer to my post on coffee made by my old Norwegian Granny

sundownhawk -> RE: wal-mart...is it evil or a cult? (9/29/2007 12:17:12 AM)

It's a cult...peek in sometime before they open. They gather together and chant the mystical "Walmart" song and dance about like uncoordinated wiccans!

Tell that to all of the working men and women Wal-Mart screws. Both their own employees and those affected by how Wal-Mart contributes to the Chinese economy, and therefore globalization...
