Its a REAL shame that this is viewed as a "choice" and not what it really is a phyical condition.

MrDiscipline44 -> RE: How do you deal with PMT in female subs? (10/2/2007 7:43:40 AM)

It's a real shame when people seem to want to fall on the excuse of "It's a condition" instead of owning up to their actions. I know, I know. How dare I expect grown adults to act as grown adults. [8|]

Candy,
You're talking to a brick wall here[sm=banghead.gif].  If he feels it's all some big made-up excuse, no amount of education or personal stories from those of us who KNOW are going to make a dent.  As with every other subject that comes up, he has his opinions -informed or not - and that's how it is[8|].  Let him believe it if he wants.............luci

It IS a real shame when people use excuses.  I grant you that.  There are excuses and then there are REASONS.  There's a difference.  If you bothered to read my post you would see that nowhere did I use PMS as an "excuse" to not "own up to" any actions or to not act as a "grown adult."  You're using a blanket statement that some women are bitches during PMS.  That's true.  But, not all use this as some "pass" to act childish and rude.  Some do.  Most don't.  Everyone is different.  To group everyone together as all trying to use it as some excuse is just ill-informed.  But, what am I expecting.  You're the guy who told us a few days back that all fat people are fat because they are lazy.  This is just another example of you dismissing an entire section of people and diagnosing why they are the way they are, DrDiscipline.  Oh, I mean mr. discipline.............luci

Hi,

I know I'm new around here but I also deal with PMT /PMDD and I do believe I've found a combination of vitamins/suppliments that REALLY seems to help me get a hold of myself.

1000 I.U. Vitamin E once a day
200 mg  B6 once a day
1200 fish oil soft gels tabs twice a day for the Omega-3 fatty acids.
Also diet and excercise, complex carbs (whole grains) and watch the processed sugar...dark chocolate is ok though!
There are more options, but I've found so far (fingers crossed) that this keeps me human. Good luck, let me know how it goes?

MrDiscipline44 -> RE: How do you deal with PMT in female subs? (10/2/2007 9:35:35 AM)

If you bothered to read my statements, luci, you'd see that I didn't blanket statement women as a whole. My original statement was about my women and my second statement was  about people (this being a general term that encompasses both men and women) who use an excuse for what they do or how they act instead of owning up to it. But you'll just see what you want not whats actually written.

As for your first statement I found it not worth my time to reply to. But since you need to bring it up again I'll reply: Hey, good for you that you found someone that'll put up with your bullshit.

How does Valyraen "deal" with it?

We keep track of my cycle so we know when I'm entering into the "nasty" phase and when I'm entering into the super-sensitive phase. We don't really change anything though - just acknowledge that I'm prone to being cranky or to crying. If needed, I get a small treat or extra cuddles to boost my spirits and keep my headspace where we want it to be.

Like depression or any other condition, it's not an excuse but you can't let it control you. From your other post and this one, it sounds like you may need outside help to get control of this.

lurkingtiger -> RE: How do you deal with PMT in female subs? (10/2/2007 9:48:31 AM)

As for MrDiscipline44, I suggest you go read a psychology textbook. Expecially abnormal psychology. PMDD is a recognized depressive disorder by the DSM-IV-TR, and a recognized legal defense. It's a more severe form of PMS, and can, in some people, even lead to suicidal ideations. It's thought to be caused by either hormonal or biochemical imbalances within the brain.

Personally, if vitamin therapy doesn't deal with it, consult a family doctor or psychiatrist. There are a lot of medicines out there today that are safe and effective at managing PMDD.

GhitaAmati -> RE: How do you deal with PMT in female subs? (10/2/2007 9:55:49 AM)

Unfortunantly Im one of those people who cant track my cycle..some years I have 3 periods the entire year...some months Ill have two in one month.....which makes it all the harder on me, because while I KNOW that my periods cause me to be irritible, insecure, angry, sad, and an all in all rollercoaster of emotional hate and weepyness, if I havent had a period in 3 or 4 months, and all of a sudden Im snapping and lashing out...it can take me several days of "oh god whats wrong with me!!" before I realize..oh duh...now Im bleeding, no wonder I yelled at the mail man on tuesday.....

My Sir knows I have some pretty uncontrollable emotional issues during and right before my period. But that doesnt mean Im allowed to be cruel or use being weepy as an excuse. For the most part I can feel an outburst coming on and am able to say "excuse me, right now I need to just leave" and I go pound my head into a wall until I can handle things better. Sometimes though I dont realize when its happening, and Sir will gently, or not so gently sometimes, remind me that hey...your being a fucking idiot, snap out of it or leave....and I will....ok..its not always that easy...sometimes I leave while screaming.."oh but whhhyyyy are you angry at meeeeee"....anyway, yea...periods...they suck.....between the emotional upheval and the pain in my tummy and lower abdomen....life just sucks....I want to strangle someone, or stab them....not shoot them, I want something more personal...I want to literally feel them die in my hands.....and then I want to go cry somewhere and have someone pamper me....and then I want to cut my own uterus out....and then I want to go drown in a vat of chocolate....yea...its bad.....normally Sir just knows to tie me down and beat it out of me.....and hand me midol and a margharita....

I'm not a Master...but I do have a recommendation...:)

Try taking Chasteberry (aka Vitex) and Evening Primrose Oil every day. Both have proven results in hormonal balancing in large scale studies. It can take 3-6mnths to get a full effect.

Use naturally sourced supplements from a health food store...there are many good brands...:)

Pick up a copy of "What your Doctor may not have told you about Pre-menopause", Evening Primrose Oil & natural progesterone creme. Diet has a huge amount of effect on your hormones as well, specifically what you put in your body regarding soy and most processed food additives. This book goes into what you should be eating as well as exercise and stress coping methods.

Lashing out during this time (as others have said) to me is a sign of something beyond the hormones tho. You have other things to work on as well, in this "weakened" state those feelings can become intensified.

For the past year, I've been into cooking from scratch. Making my own cream soups, pancakes, everything, due to a cookbook I got when my mom died last year. I've noticed that I'm not as moody, cranky, yelling at everyone and everything since then. I totally agree that food additives play a huge role in PMS/PMT. Sure I still get sad and cry sometimes, but nothing like I used to do. Also stress plays an important part in it too.

GhitaAmati -> RE: How do you deal with PMT in female subs? (10/2/2007 10:38:42 AM)

Ive been looking into the natural progesterone creams too.......apparently lots of women have had help with them...

lurkingtiger -> RE: How do you deal with PMT in female subs? (10/2/2007 11:46:10 AM)

Be careful wth hormonal treatments. They can increase the risks of blood clots, expecially in inactive women and those who smoke. You should really see a doctor before beginning any hormonal treatments, even OTC treatments. Pulmonary Embolism and Heart Attack/Stroke are bad things.

GhitaAmati -> RE: How do you deal with PMT in female subs? (10/2/2007 12:03:06 PM)

yea...ive read a bit about that too...like I said...I was looking into it..not actually taking them yet....but from what I can tell..the natural version compared to the synthisized version has alot less risks....

laurell3 -> RE: How do you deal with PMT in female subs? (10/2/2007 3:16:53 PM)

It's probably a good idea to get it from a doctor, my doctor said no to hormone therapy at this time for me for health risks and family history I hadn't even considered that aren't the general listed ones.  I exercise when I get emotional swings and find it helps alot.  When I get physically ill (unfortunately the myth that this gets better as you age isn't really true), I deal with it the best I can and whine to my friends who in turn whine when they need to as well.

Celeste43 -> RE: How do you deal with PMT in female subs? (10/2/2007 6:32:18 PM)

What is a choice is to continue to say she can't help it versus going to get help and explaining that she's in the middle of testing and medication trials.

People come down with all kinds of illnesses, of the body and of the brain. But refusing to get medical treatment is not acceptable in my book. PMS can be treated through diet and exercise changes, through hormone treatment, through the usage of SSRIs as they also help control estrogen output. And probably a bunch of stuff I don't know about but a doctor, or a nurse midwife would.

The choice is in how she deals with the physical condition. The rest of the world is unlikely to change itself to meet her needs, therefore she has to choose what options she can find that are acceptable to both her and the others she's dealing with.

Perplex -> RE: How do you deal with PMT in female subs? (10/3/2007 5:27:14 AM)

Hey Submissfifi,

as has been implied by some of the posters, if you can predict the dates of your PMT, then dont' scene during those times...if you and your dom want to spend time together then take off the collar/relax the rules/give conditional amnesty during the time.

Harmonal conditions are just that, and so are blue balls, nobody would accept it as for rape...cuz guys ya can jack off before you do 20 for crossing the line...ladies you can likewise take steps when in the altered state not to do things that will have repucussions.

apparently you have a wise enough dom to realize the punishment that best suits you, --to ignore you, which sent you here looking for support (not judging ya Miss, just observing) and maybe if you realize punishment is not a bad thing it would help. Somewhere along the line we have forgotten nobody punishes (parent or dom) merely to hurt...(if you're doign that then jsut call it a play-scene and be done with it) it is used to teach.

I did read them and I thought you did generalize.  If that wasn't what you meant, I misunderstood.
quote:

My original statement was about my women and my second statement was  about people (this being a general term that encompasses both men and women) who use an excuse for what they do or how they act instead of owning up to it.

Again, I understod what I read.  Your point - no matter who it was about, whether it be all women or just your girls - was that PMS is nothing more than an "excuse."  That's the point I was addressing.
quote:

As for your first statement I found it not worth my time to reply to. But since you need to bring it up again I'll reply: Hey, good for you that you found someone that'll put up with your bullshit

And, voila.  Back to my point.  It's not "bullshit," it's a legitimate condition.  The very fact that you have yet again repeated the sentiment that it is a choice shows that, for everyone's efforts, you still don't get it.  That's cool.  Deal with your girls and their PMS (if they get it) however you choose.  The rest of us, being well-informed on the subject, will handle it the ways we choose and realize it isn't a choice or bullshit.  Sorry you didn't gain any knowledge on the subject here but rather maintained your ill-informed opinion.  And sorry about my tone.  I'm PMS'ing you know[8|].  Just kidding.................luci
