Greetings everyone,

I have been thinking lots lately! And today I was in a conversation with another female slave when she asked if I took my form of submission from a book. At first I was a bit confused, but once I thought about it more I can name several instances when a girl will compare a situation to the Story of O, or the De Sade books. Do you get your inspiration from a book?

Disclaimer! I don’t mean try and replicate a book, just find a story that inspires you to go fall to your knees.

Thanks ahead of time for the responses!

No. I have never read "The Story of O", the De Sade books, the "Sleeping Beauty" books by Anne Rice or any other supposedly formative novels about d/s.

They simply don't interest me.

i've read "The Loving Dominant" more to gain insight from that perspective.  I browsed through some of the other books at the shop, and am going to go back and really read them...............but not the Story of O or the other ones........they didn't interest me.

I've often gained new perspectives and inspirations from books, insights about myself.

But it's only unearthing and rotating what's already there.

Nothing in my life has been 'by the book' unless I wrote it.  Reading bdsm erotica is entertaining to say the least, sometimes informative, sometimes gives great ideas.  I do have to say the best one so far has been Screw the Roses...

the "Sleeping Beauty" books by Anne Rice

Those are great one handed reading material, but a book to base your submission on? No way!

I thought the Anne Rice 'Beauty' books was/is some of the worst so-called erotica ever written. I bought the box set and then gave them away after the first book. Gackkkkk lol.'Screw the Roses' was good and it addressed a lot of the things I wondered about.Other than that books were more a source of porn than information for me and none really gave me the base for submission. Kinky sex yes but actual submission no.

Story of O was a huge influence on me as an adolescent, although it has nothing to do with my opinions or lifestyle now.

I have tried several times to read a Beauty book and don't think I have ever lasted more than three pages.

If anyone really compares their situation to a de Sade book, I would question whether they have actually read him.

I recently saw The Secretary, and 9 1/2 weeks.  Both were interesting movies, and both were erotic in places...........the food scene in 9 1/2 was awesome................But neither reflects the way my relationship is.  I took both of the pictures for what they were worth, and am happy I saw them.........I did understand the mindset of the women...........and related to how they were feeling.......I did get a very real sense of confusion from both women, and related to that as well..................

Haven't read the DeSade books, and don't care to........

I've read a few de Sade books and gained many a fantasy from them. My situation is far closer to Sade than the beauty books or carries story etc etc.

I thought the "Story of O" was lame.

I see that there are lots of information books about the lifestyle like those CutieMouse listed. What about fiction? If there was good BDSM novels would you want to read them? Say they were romance novels with a big dose of kink thrown in and wonderfully written? Would you actually seek out and buy such a book?

I'm generally not a fiction girl. I read Story of O and the Beauty Trilogy, and found both of them vapid and annoying. I do like reading 17th - 19th century erotica (more than just de Sade; interesting how often D/s elements are present), but it's not easy to come by.
