Status: offline 		This is a topic that is one that I should have put out there myself. I personally date whoever I want, and if I was looking for another sub couldn't care less what color she is. In my personal preference, I have an affinity for white and hispanic women. Yet I have dated, etc black, white etc. I believe fully in everyone choosing what's to their preference, for whatever their personal reasons. Still, one has to wonder though. Why put that your only interested in black men, white men ? My thought on that is that there has to be an underlying reason, deeper than just preference, for you to put that. I just feel it's odd in that situation. Maybe it's just me though. I prefer to date women of the fairer skin, but while in the dating scene it never once dawned on me to rule out all others. If you've never dated anyone oustside of your race, then I can understand some hesitation. However, looking at it from a purely pyschological view, why post that preference ? Have you had a bad experience dealing with someone of another race ? Have you found that you have had absolutely no attraction to anyone outside of your race ? Is your attraction so heavily leaning towards "Brad Wong", moreso than "Brad Pitt" ? Something inside you has you limiting your choices.

Examples of this that i've seen ? You find Taye Diggs attractive, but you wouldn't "date him". You'd sleep with Jenny McCarthy, but you wouldn't, again, "date her". You get the point.

I have played with girls of many skin tones/colours, with the exception of black skin. This isn't a preference for me it's just a lack of opportunity LOL. I have always wondered what kind of marks my canes would make on black skin. Alas I am a white male Dom from Canada, so my options here are limited.

The point I'm making is I love skin in all it's infinite varieties.

I wish the world were colourblind, but it isn't

Some people like rap and can't stand heavy metal. It's just not something they want to listen to.

Some people like long, thick cocks... some prefer slender... some prefer tapered heads with thicker bases... Some don't want any at all.

Some people find men attractive. Some people find women attractive. Some are just greedy (*raises a hand*) and want both male and female partners.

Some people are looking for that Dom or Domina... some are looking for a submissive (or three)... Some people want someone who enjoys being on both sides of the cane.

And... some people like dark skin and dislike pale skin - it's just not something they want to see naked.

It's a matter of likes and dislikes... flavors... tastes... personal preferances.

When it comes to dateing, I can be with a White person, an oriental, hispanic, Arab, Indian, Native American, and such with out being looked at funny by a majority of the populace. But if I brought a black person into the house OH BOY! It can be a reaction by family and sometimes friends. It's been interesting to try and understand this phenomina wouldn't you agree?
Perhaps the Nazis, KKK, and such will always be against every type of inter racial couples but it was when a White person hooked up with a Black person that made headlines and media coverage. In 1960, you can just go back and see the publicity Sandy Davis Jr had when being involved with a white female. Yet, hardly anything has been said other races mix that reach national attention. It truely is interesting in researching the reasons as to why an inter racial couple involving a White and Black person is so unique, different, and perhaps more odd than any other couple. Does anyone have thoughts on this?

Status: offline 		People want what they want, and there doesn't have to be a reason for it. I don't ask my best friend, or anyone for that matter, why don't they like a red sports car vs a black one. The simple fact of the matter is, there personal preferences don't affect me in the slightest.

People spend too much time worrying about things like this. Be honest with yourself go after what is going to fufill you. If you worry too much about people who say "You should be this way..." or "You should want..." then you aren't really fufilling yourself. You're living your life and making your preferences based on what fufills someone else.

Don't seek approval where none is needed. If you want to drive an AMC Pacer, than drive one. If you want to find that special white woman/man or whatever, then find that. No one here is going to know what fufills you better than you. Leave the political correctness out of it and go for what you want. You don't have to justify yourself to anyone in matters of the heart.

There are over 6 billion people living in this world. Odds are there is someone out there that compliments your desires. The longer you worry about what other people think, the less time you spend looking for that someone.

Sometimes I wonder as well. I think it's more of a complection thing. The other ethnic groups you mentioned all are of very similar skin tone, hair texture. By people putting their head in the sand, things like that won't ever change. Darker skin has been perpetuated throughout history as being inferior and for many, no matter how quiet we all are about it these days, that belief system is still prevalent amongst many. It's one thing to not worry about what others think on a bdsm level, but when you know people will attack a couple for no other reason than being in an interratial union, there's a need to have dialogs and discussions. sweeping things under the carpet allows for the continuance of ignorance and a breading ground for hate crimes, be it race, sexual orientation or any number of differences from that spark the perpetrators to.

Sometime being concerned with what other's think is beneficial to ourselves and humanity as a whole. And let's not kid ourselves, there are many racist amongst us, not just people selecting just on comfort levels. It's a good thing to question one's self on occasion. Just my opinion, which around here counts for nothing, but I don't care, I'm giving it anyway.

Status: offline 		I've kinda stepped back from this post since coming out with it but..you'rs is the type of response I was hoping to see...I know all the we have preferences and to each his own ..been there done that...it's old I wanted to hear about why or why not...something along the lines of..it's to taboo and that troubles me so I avoid it..or damn if I ever brought a person of another race home I'd be disowned...and I know there's those out there that feel this as I've heard it just today in a e-mail...I was looking honesty not cliques...I want the unbound thoughts to be heard...I'm looking to find answers to resolve views I've had which may or may not be valid...everyone boasts of their honesty here...so get past the simple answer...go for it...enlighten us...say what it's like for you...(I don't like dark colored skin)...(I don't like the corseness of the hire as it rubs me)...(I love the corseness of the hair as it makes my skin tingle)...whatever...maybe you don't like think lips...or (for the guys) maybe you love thick lips on your johnson...lots of ladies today are going for the thick lip look...I know I'm reaching here but I'm just trying to get more from everyone...and yes I also know wanting to get more out of anyone should be from my own first...but I have their responses...

And yes, to respond to your post MstrHellsFury, it is true that even though it is understandable some folks have specific preferences, it is odd they purposely put self imposed limits on themselves, particularly if they have no basis to do so. Myself, I was raised where there was no ethnic mixing of any kind...I actually never spoke to anyone (and rarely saw anyone) of the darker persuasion until I was in the Air Force..many many moons ago. It didn't take me long to adjust, well I don't actually remember having to adjust, it was just a given that they were just people, took about 2 seconds to figure that out. Actually, some of my best friends over the years and now even a brother-in-law are black. I guess what I am getting at, is that it really is a society driven thought process, but it is sustained only by the person with the thoughts. I don't buy that you can blame it on how you were raised, or where you grew up, because I am sure we didn't witness D/s or M/s relationships in our upbringing and we all certainly seem to have hurdled that issue..lol. Myself, I can honestly say I don't see color, with regards to any preconceived notions about them as a person...oh I might notice if they are a sexy dark female, but no more so than if I see some scantly clad, knockout, China Girl walking down the street. Any submissive who fits my criteria is acceptable, even if they are purple and have BLONDE hair...lol.

Status: offline 		I'd have to say that the bigest ordeal is that I think many people fantazies being with a black person. The only thing that keeps most people from having it become a reality is having to bring them home to Mom and Dad.
We have movies out such as Jungle Fever, Guess Who's Comming to Dinner, and the new Bernie Mac / Ashton Kutcher flick. The oddness of introducing them to the parents / family can be an obsticle for many people.

And now we have the saying "Once you've gone Black you never go back" which brings me one question to ask all of you.

When you see one youn blonde hair blue eyed lady in a group of all black men laughing and such, what's your first impression?

Status: offline 		Thank you Fury for starting an interesting thread. The same kind of issue has been done to death when talking about body types or age, but THIS aspect of personal prejudice is something that the good old USA has been wressling with a long time.

I grew up in a small Iowa farm town, and we had zero minorities, and I never thought much about racism as a young boy. In my teens I started paying more attention to the world at large, and realized shortly there after that my Grandfather was a big ole racist.

I was scared I would be as well. My parents didn't seem to be, but I had never interacted with people of other ethnic groups. Thank GOD for my stint in the Navy!!! Not only did I discover that I didn't mind people of other skin tones, but I could befriend the men and date tho women. My whole four years in I dated 1 black women, 3 asians, and 1 white woman (who incidently introduced me to BDsM).

Since then, I date whoever is available based on personality. Ad now that my Grandfater has passed, nobody in my family thinks twice about my love life.

I do have to amit to a prejudice myself tho (not blondes, they are OK in my book). But I can't date/scene/whatever women who aren't bright enough to carry on an interesting conversation.

Actually, I have often thought the color contrasts between skin tones of black/white would be insanely erotic. But if he sees me as a sweet little subbie, and I think he is a wonderful Dom, I wouldn't care if we were orange and purple, frankly.

Status: offline 		Wow..what a great topic and posts. I didn't know anyone had a preference in their Profile. I surely don't. I haven't done a search for a Mistress for some time, but will include all colors.....I guess that would be more Mistresses, not to reply to my e-mails. My wife use to talkto Casing Bus Driver on the CB radio, and most of them were Black. We met up with one driver one day (as we had a lot) and he asked if I minded my wife talking to Black Men on the CB radio, and I told him I didn't mind....some of my best Friends are White. It gave him a chukle and showed him I had no quarms at all. In fact, most of the Black Drivers were mor sociable that the White Drivers....I guess because she was a little heavy, and that was their prejudices.

Now as for Blonds....I use to be a Blond till I was 13 (With Blue Eyes...still Blue). Next you'll be saying you don't want anything to do with "BALDING" men...or as I call it, "Flesh Tone Hair Color".....LOL
