Talents? Hmm, well, let me see... I suppose first and foremost I have a talent for writing. Not just writing, but using language for effect, instinctually manipulating punctuation and cadence to best convey my meaning; I'm not sure from whence this particular skill developed, but I do read an inordinate amount, and that likely has a great deal to do with it. Now, I haven't yet published anything, but I plan to, and am working on a book right now, as well as a few other sundry writing projects. And on the flip side of that coin, I can speed-read -- not just simply skimming, but actually reading incredibly fast. It seems to be a bit of a fickle talent -- if I'm not terribly interested and engaged with a piece of prose, I can't use it, and extremely technical stuff slows me down to a crawl -- but in those areas in which I have an abiding interest, I can go through books like popcorn. Where most people seem more interested in T.V. and web content these days, I still collect classic books, and can quote from a number of them verbatim -- everything from Shakespeare to Catch-22 to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I also seem to have a knack for electronics, though this is another area I haven't used to its fullest; I know how to assemble, configure and troubleshoot my own PC, and learned how to do this almost entirely on my own, with no formal education at all. Still amazes me slightly that I picked such information up so easily, but I guess the subject agreed with me -- it's a lot easier to learn when the subject being presented isn't terminally boring, or at least it is for me. Dogs seem to respond fairly well to me, and I tend to be able to train them and make friends with them pretty easily; unfortunately, this talent doesn't extend to cats or birds, both of whom seem to regard my shaved head as a source of undying curiosity. Oh, and I'm a gamer -- both paper and video -- from way, way back, though that may be less a talent and more a mental illness. [;)]
