LOL. Quite possibly, there are people in the UK supporting terrorism against the UK but there aren't people openly collecting money for terrorism and terrorists acts to be commited in the US and being defended by UK politicians and the courts unlike the protection Irish terrorists were given in the US.

There was no government support for the IRA...Although there were a few Irish American legislators that
sympathized with them.

I think you are dreaming if you think there is not open... at least in the Muslim community... collecting of money in the UK for terrorism… either directly or indirectly.

It exists right here in the US as well… It is something that could only exist in free open societies. A price we must pay for freedom.

There might not have been any official government support but it was noticeable that several Presidents refused to do anything about the problem. As I always ask, what hold does the US have over British politicians that we have to put up with US military on UK soil while the US refused to do anything about Americans financing terrorism on British soil. I wish I knew.

That meatcleaver we can agree on... it should have been stopped... but things like that are always easier said than done. Both your government and mine have tried to dry up money to terrorists groups. It has slowed but not stopped.

...There are people today in The UK that support, openly I may add, terrorism against the US.

...and if they were sending money, quite openly, to Al Quaida (as US citizens did) then the US would request their immediate extradition to the US. They would also fall foul of the UK's Prevention of Terrorism Act.
Would you support the prosecution of those US citizens who sent money to the IRA? Would you support their extradition to the UK to face charges?

Not only would I support that I'd be willing to close down GTMO and move all of them to Antartica where they could never hurt anyone for the rest of their days.

In the US you can openly support Al Quaida... you can in the UK and Canada too... and many do. They can send mail anywhere they like and I'm sure they do... no way to know.

Unless I am mistaken there is a negotiated peace just now in Northern Ireland. So people can send funds to any charity they please.

If you spend the same energy keeping peace as you do attacking the US you should be fine. Stop complaining and start doing.

...as to your first point, the Prevention of Terrorism Act allows the security forces wide latitude. Anyone caught sending money to AQ has broken UK law.
There is a negotiated peace in NI right now, however sending money to a charity that is proven to funnel funds to any of the paramilitaries who aren't on cease fire falls foul of the same UK law.
As to your final point i see you have dodged my question. Should those US citizens who, in the past, knowingly supported terrorism face charges...yes or no?

I sure wish someone would loan me 119 billion of today’s dollars at a 2 percent interest rate and let me pay it off in 61 years…61 YEARS!!!

In all fairness, that is absolutely correct. The US loaned a fair wedge to the British government at a knock-down rate; in keeping with the fairness theme, it was in the US government's interests to help Britain back on her feet.

What you fail to mention is that Britain owes the US money from WW1, and you ain't getting the fucker back. Unlucky. Any chance you can do us some more of those cheap loans? We'll repay you in expletives on a message board.

Cheers.

philosophy...I can could send a check to my uncle Abdul in Iran... now tell me how can anyone prove it was for terrorism... don't be silly.

What paramilitaries are not part of the cease fire?... I won't send them any money

We have extradition treaties between both Canada and UK for just such a circumstance you are talking about. Read for yourself.

...and still you duck a direct question.........do you support the extradition and prosecution of US citizens who knowingly sent money to terrorist organisations in Northern Ireland. It's a yes/no question.

NG, true enough but not only the U.S. government but the American People have a stake in helping  the British People as well.
As longtime friends and Allies we have a special place in our hearts for our British cousins too!

...not personally, but i have picked glass out of my hair following an IRA bomb. Paid for in part by US money.

Sorry to hear that... and I mean it...but sort of hard to know it was from US money... you do know there are many Irish Canadians. Lets just hope it is over..and with some time those people forgive and learn to live together
