Being ignored wouldn't work for me. Too many things in life I want to do... what you mean I don't have to be at your beck and call today... think I will go swimming naked in the ocean, or finish binding that quilt, or catch up on those episodes of Hero's I taped but havent seen yet. I am far too happy with my own company to be upset with enforced alone time. So is being ignored really a method of "denying you the pleasure of their company" or is it a veiled/implied threat that he will take your collar away, time without him for you to be scared that you are going to lose him? It would depend on the "crime" but if that threat is constantly being held over my head for every little infraction then I'm in the wrong relationship for me. I will not live in fear.
Don't think pain would do it either... although there is a point at which pain stops being pleasurable so it could. I haven't needed punishment yet, but my Master will have to be creative.
