And Yul Brynner is so domly...and yummy...I would have gone under his whip anytime...

I have some beautiful shots in a book celebrating homosexuality in photography of Yul Brynner in some beautiful and submissive black & whites. (Not wanting to burst anyones bubble there, they are completely stunning).

Status: offline 		She was a star when the Ladies where impossibly glamourous and the Men were impossibly handsome. No tongues down throats and no foul languge.
Still the films could portray "lo life" if needs be.

That era is sadly missed by me.

I am not 100% sure if he was gay or bisexual.  Brynner was a very private and relitavely 'shy' man.

Status: offline 		Hmmpphhh-Seeks- then maybe you shouldn't check out the Gypsy Moths, where she plays a nude love scene with Burt Lancaster- at age 48- and looks damn good IIRC.  It's actually a pretty good movie if you like sky diving, although I haven't seen it in a long time.  Frankenheimer directed it and bellyached that he thought it was pretty good, but it's clearly not well known.

I was worried it was going to still be packed away (nearly a year and I am still not fully unpacked as yet).
I made a slight mistake, it wasn't in the book I thought it was, but a book on 'Pioneering Male Nudes' - which is a celebration of American Male culture and sexual icons from the 1930's through to late 50's.  The books is written by David Leddick and is a fantastic read.
The photographs are by George Platt Lynes.  I can't post one here, but if you search google, it comes up but you're forbidden(so I can;t post an address for you to see) to see the full images - but it's a start and you can view a very small image.

In 1969 we hadn't quite reached the era of brazen muff diving if that translates into American.
I have no problem with explicit sexuality but the context needs to be right.
My guess would be that in 1969 her star was waning and this is what she had to do to make a living.
The 1970's was when the rot set in IMO

Status: offline 		I love The King and I, but.....I still see her on that cruise liner, trying to pretend she wants nothing to do with Cary Grant....that kiss on the stairway....at his grandmother's villa in the South of France....lying on the sofa with the afghan over her legs when he pays her the visit on Christmas Eve, bravely letting him go, while the shock of the realization of why she couldn't meet him at the top of the Empire State Building registers on his face......

Nope, give me An Affair to Remember to remember her by.  Godspeed, dear lady.

Debra Kerr was a graceful and magnificent lady. Yul Brynner was a comanding presence in that movie. :)
I (due to my Mom) grew up loving Musicals. People back then were classier in the movies. We dressed up more as a family (looking back growing up). Does this reflect on how we are now as people? Has our dressing down reflected on how we behave etc.? Is that an indicator of how things have gone downhill.

Yes, some of the movie people had really bad morals  Daddy Warbucks etc.

are we better off as a nation?

Just wondering.. sorry i have gone off on a tangent...
