oh dear........I must be doing it all wrong-it's not respectful to just ask, "Do you like leather?"[:)]

laurell3 -> RE: Respect, and how we email. (10/23/2007 12:35:22 AM)

mmmmm leather.......that wouldn't offend me because you have a great profile.

Honestly, hello slut doesn't actually offend me either, hello slut will you fuck my dog DOES.  I use screen names.  I don't use titles, and if someone approaches me with a title I gently ask them just to talk to me as a person.

i wonder if there never was a internet how people would really be in this lifestyle

I highly doubt people would whine this much about stupid shit in the real... Cause If someone got mad at how they were greeted I would probably laugh my ass off and tell them to grow up

IrishMist -> RE: Respect, and how we email. (10/23/2007 4:40:37 AM)

I don't 'give away' respect to anyone who thinks that they deserve it. I might find it in myself to be courteous; but respect is not just given to anyone.

Goddess20 -> RE: Respect, and how we email. (10/23/2007 5:02:20 AM)

My personal preference is Goddess.

In My sessions I have them call me, my Goddess. (I'm thinking of starting a cult! [:)])

Its what I like and have My subs call me.

On the first mail I let respectful names (Mistress, Miss, Ma'am etc) slide, I don't like them but just for the first mail I let it go but then subs/slaves are informed that I'm not miss, I'm a Domme, not a teacher. I'm not Ma'am, I'm 20, not 120! And not mistress as I believe it is below me.

I'm Goddess, Superior Goddess or The Heavenly One.

I did write this on My profile but a few people thought it was funny to call me ma'am as I hate it so much *BLOCKED*.

And I don't address subs at all!

I also say when addressing me (as in them saying You, Yours, You're etc) they capitalise it.

And when addressing themselves (as in them saying me, i, myself etc) they do not capitalise it.

But as I said this is My personal preference. I'm sure other people would find that offensive.

Dnomyar -> RE: Respect, and how we email. (10/23/2007 5:05:17 AM)

Be glad that at least you get a hello first out of them. I am real bad about that. Always have been. I'm always asked why dont I say hello first before I ask a question. Im told I am to blunt. Im not Mr. manners but Im not down on your knees either. Take each reply you get as a individual. Do not lump them altogether. Shakes head. People complain about getting replies and people complain that they dont get any replies.

TheMsScarlet -> RE: Respect, and how we email. (10/23/2007 5:16:46 AM)

Hello Jade,

Given that a lot of the mails I get seem to consist of "i can serve" or txt spk drivel, no hello, no name at the bottom, no nothing, I don't bother to reply to them, I just put them on ignore.  Unfortunately there is a spreading of poor manners in the world, and as the internet allows them anonymity people choose to be more and more lazy.

I'm a Pro-Domme (yeah, yeah, get over it those of you that must), my name as a Domme is Mistress Scarlet, and if someone is approaching me for a session I expect to be referred to as Mistress.  I have spent a long time on the scene, I have taken the time and trouble to learn my trade well, I offer subs the benefit of that experience, including medical and dental training.  If I had a qualification in either they would call me doctor.  Why should they not have sufficient respect to call me Mistress?  After all, I show my subs respect at all times.

Mistress Scarlet

You see, we all agree with you. The problem is, the people who really need to hear what you have to say, won't be reading. Generally those are the types who are using CM to generate wank fodder. Delete and Block is your friend.

I look at it this way, it's good of them to let me know up front that I need not waste any time on them.

Dear TN,

Point taken!  I'll have to thank more of them for pointing out to me what idiots they are in advance of having to waste my time.  [:D]

How do you feel about introductory emails that make assumptions right off the bat? Do you hope for them? Is that what you're looking for? Or do they bother you? What do you prefer to be called? Do you, as a submissive, call every Dom/me "Sir" or "Ma'am" (or some variation)? Do you, as a Dom/me or Top, expect to be called thus? And submissives- do you hope to be called "slut", "pet", "my girl", or some other variation, in that very first contact?

Personally, if someone contacts me as a down to earth human being who is genuinely interested in getting to know me as an individual, they are going to receive a response back.

If they harp on the "Sir", "Master", "Lord of the Universe", "I am a poor pathetic little slave who wants to be used as your foot stool", or really any kind of role based persona a little too much, I am going to ignore.

However, I am sure there is plenty of people out on the Internet who absolutely love that.

These threads pop up on occassion where people whine about how they were contacted in an email in a manner they didnt like.

I happen to love it because it just makes it easier for me to sort out the people I have no interest in talking to.

The whole self glorification thing sort of turns me off too. Drop the masks people, they will have to come off eventually anyhow.

Only if you promise to polish them after dear. I'm very picky about my boots.[;)]

But your screen name starts with Milady so it would seem obvious to someone to address you as that. Perhaps if you put it into your profile that you wanted to be called Jade without the title you would get better responses?

Exactly.

Well, I love these boots-broken in just right. I can even dance around in them topping. Not an easy thing to find-when most of what they make these days are clod hoppers with hard rubber soles better put on trucks.

chellekitty -> RE: Respect, and how we email. (10/23/2007 8:54:41 AM)

are you implying that i would ruin them by polishing them? *sniffles*
