some advice....lying never helps your cause....tis better to confess your wrong doings now....and beg mercy....oh wait...its God that has mercy on your soul...not humans that have mercy on your body....

I know two men that are very intelligent and can't spell worth a darn.

One reads a ton of books every week. Still cannot spell..

I, on the other hand, am hearing impaired and spell pretty well. My grammar and typing skills suck!

I am with LaMistressa on the "text talk".  If you want to communicate with me, use all your letters and puncuation marks properly.  I will admit I screw up on the commas often, but I try to keep all the letters in all words in the proper order.

It matters to me and look at it as a way to determine if this is someone even worth talking to online.  For starters most systems or such offer spell check.  Yes, i agree sometimes spell check misses a few things or takes for granted what it thinks you were trying to say and if you don't catch it well then sometimes the meaning is lost.  Sure there are the times when i just can't type and there are the times that i have mistyped a word that i wasn't sure of and didnt spell check it.  i think we all do that.  Those things don't bother me as much as reading through an entire email of omg, did they get out of the third grade at all!!  i need a certain level of intellect and if they can't spell it, they probably can't think or speak it either.
p.s. i am not spell checking this so if i mis spelled something, oh well.  LOL

I am dyslexic.  I do not use spell checkers so I couldn't say if they do work or not.  Though prior experience with dictionaries would tell me they probably would not work.
I am dyslexic, but I can spell.  I am dyslexic but I can read faster than most people.  I am dyslexic but it does not keep me from being understood when I write.
Why?
Because I worked my ass off to teach myself to fit in, dyslexia or not.
Dyslexia should not be an excuse.  It is an obstacle people have to learn to get around to survive.
I am dyslexic but I have 5 degrees.  I overcame.

Hi

Somebody has posted that a spellchecker is of no help to a dyslexic ... well ... that's patently untrue.

Do you have dyslexia then? Since you say this is untrue? I do and I am saying that it is so. Surly some will have use of it, but many dyslectics will not have any use of a spell check program. Even if they do not load their program whit their errors.

GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!!
I am so happy to see someone not just give in to something and not just use it as an excuse to be treated all special. I have personal issues but I refuse to let it effect other people nor do I expect anyone to walk on eggshells around me because of them.
SO CHEERS TO YOU, MISSOKYST!!!

Personally, I'm a spelling and grammar nazi. It's an annoying trait I have. I try to hide it from others and cry in the bathrooms at work so no one sees. I'm joining a support group soon.

Let's see.... Spelling and grammar are details.... Someone doesn't pay enough attention to details like that... Then one has to wonder, what other details will this person "not bother with"?  Circulation in bondage is a detail.  Body language during play is a detail.  Tone of voice is a detail.

So, all in all, and typos aside, someone who doesn't bother to check spelling or use good grammar, regardless of native language or physiological conditions (and yes, as a matter of fact, I suffer from dysgraphia, so I do know whereof I babble) -- is not someone with whom I want to interact.

I know quite a few people on these boards in fact that are not stellar typists or spelling bee champions that would never neglect someone else in a scene.  It can be annoying at times, but it's just spelling/grammar.  It's not an indication of the person behind the words.

If you got the right kinda ass, you gotta know 45 safewords (which I will give you), know them in forward and reverse order, their common and archaic meaning, and if you can't spell the fucking things, how can you expect me to stop ever?

first bunch

Zygote
Yggdrasil
Xenophobe
Warp or Woof (depends on the day)

I eased up toward the end of the alphabet, BTW.

So, sometimes spelling is important.

LMAO...this was funny

i'm kinda big on the whole spelling/grammar thing too...But, i am not the greatest typist in the world either, so i could give concessions to typos.

One of the first things that struck me with my Daddy was the fact that he used and knew how to spell alot of words that i just didn't know. No one since school had done that, and i was like little Miss Spelling Bee and stuf (i've gotten kinda dumb since meeting my Daddy though)...What i love is that i can actually ask him what a word means, he can spell it...and then do the thing my Mom always did and make me look it up :) this always makes me laugh...and i've learned new words.

recalcitrant was the first word he taught me in one of our very first conversations...i was a goner from then on.
