I am wondering, if after a long term relationship, and a slave is trained to almost perfection (no such thing as perfection), do many Masters actually get bored with their slaves and run out of ideas, or just enjoy them for what they have molded them into?
Is there a ceiling to being trained, or is the sky the limit?

I think it is a big bell curve really, it is not so much boredom, but if you think of it like painting a painting, at first it is layed on wide and thick----
pretty soon you are down to small brushes and watery and wispy strokes and you spend alot more time standing back (for perspective) and looking......
Then, as time marches on, there is some little maintenance, alot of memories and a happy little snuggly place of honor to mount the work.

Hows that, for allegory or metaphor?

Not really a question about power exchange relationship but about individual human beings. Some people just need new things in their lives. For most this usually does not include new significant other but both in this life and regular life we all know people who do in fact like new people in their lives and dump others out of basically boredom of status quo.

There are people though in this life that the individual things whether the power exchange parts or the kink parts are driven more about the newness or seeing how far they can take things then the actual things themselves. For these people, yes, once the stimulation is gone they lose interest in the dynamic of the relationship.

I think for most these are relationships obviously and do not get tired of someone they care for and how they do truly want to live life like. But do not think for a second that for some that treat this life more about putting excitement in theirs and old and familiar is boring.

Depends what you consider "fully trained." I'm always learning. As a mere human, I always have more to learn and to grow into.

But becoming all and more than he had hoped for in a slave means he can finally enjoy the fruits of his labor, and I can provide more and more joy and happiness and amusement for him. No more frustrations, no more getting pissed off, no more settling for less than what he ultimately wants because I wasn't quite there yet. Now he's got everything he wants, and man oh man does he utilize it!

Bored? Hell no - totally happy.

And if he feels like getting into the training mode with someone again, then he finds a suitable slave to train while fully enjoying what he and I developed. So it's all good!

I don't personally consider a well-trained slave/submissive to be the least bit boring. In fact, it's quite satisfying and the source of enormous pleasure (and pride) unto itself.

Besides, it leaves more time for the fun stuff.

Rover, you mentioned pride which is something I overlooked when writing my post. Quite often now I hear my Master speak of feeling proud, and feeling good about himself as a result of what he has created here. I'm glad you mentioned pride - it certainly has its place in all of this.

Pride certainly has its place in my relationships, and evidently yours as well. Though it does not in all relationships. Just stating the obvious for those who enjoy... the obvious.

He is very happy that things run smoothly a majority of the time, makes his life easier and makes our life more peaceful and enjoyable.

i wondered about this, too, not of Masters but, of my Master. i asked Him, not too long ago, if He prefers having the challenge of training a slave or, the ease of having a trained slave to serve Him. He didn't hesitate to say that he prefers having the ease of a trained slave to serve Him. Whew! What a relief to hear that. i guess that's why He is my Master and not my "Trainer".

to my experience, the fun just gets better the "better trained" she is. and yes, it's definitely a process of growing. I've been told by a few guys of them getting bored of a slave and throwing them away after 12 years of a relationship. I can't imagine throwing away someone that I had worked with for so long as the willingness, trust, and openness get better as well, but I'm sure there's more than I'm seeing, and situations that would merit such consideration. *shrug*

Until we die, we are in a continual state or growth. That means, to me, that someone will never be fully trained. Both of our needs are always changing, and there is always something more to learn and try. Between the two I don't think I will ever get board, unless it is needing a vacation from the life itself.

I'd like to see that perfect slave. I've been with my owner for a decent amount of time (10 years in January) and I still make mistakes - hell I made a big one this year. By virtue of being human I think that its impossible to not make mistakes.

On the other hand the years together has definitely made me more adjusted and refined to his preferences and desires, but I don't think that makes me boring at all.

I'm not sure if people in alternative lifestyles are intrinsically more dynamic of personality, but I know for myself, the goals I aim for are moving targets. The goals aren't towards some ideal of perfection, but simply a broadening or changing of interests as I learn and experience.

Dear rubyleu, Ladies and Gentlemen,

Slaves are individuals and like individuals, some have higher ceilings then some others. However, addressing your immediate question as to does a Master get bored with a fully trained slave or appreciate the finished product of training, is really an open ended question as to what is beginning and ending of training.

Training is mainly, to my mind's eyes --a replacement of behaviors and or habits and the habits and or behaviors I like, I make it consistant as to become second nature and or instinctive. It is knowing the expectations and the results when they are not met, have known consequences. I find 'training' as giving full communication, answering questions, different approaches how to handle things and help that slave do the task I wish them to do--not throw them to the wind and fend for themselves.

When satisfied--behavior and or habits are just maintained and or reenforced. To some that means training. To some may mean maintaining and to some it may mean something entirely different.

Since 'teaching' is often associated with 'training,' lessons of life really do not end. There may be many directions of interests which may branch from the basics. It really is for me--making a home comfortable for me and those slaves that create the comfort with my guidence. I will also add, the teaching/training another human, any animal --the other human/animal is often a teacher/trainer themselves. It is finding out how to listen as well as to speak. It is seeing as much as learning how to see from another's view and or mind. It is finding how to make it comfortable to be heard and seen as much as receiving the ability to hear and see. The many slaves I have had, have been also my teacher and in a sense a trainer. As the saying goes--we teach people how to treat us. Horses and canines have been just as important in the teaching/training process in the riding/driving experiences. Sometimes humans have to shut their mouth and look at what the horse is trying to say--not much different from those who are mute and or deaf--these animals have volumes to say, to teach to share--therefore, it is increased a million times more with another human being.

Just some thoughts.
