I'm going to go out on a limb here, and feel I can do so as a former pro dom myself.

A professional domina who does this as a business and who is worth her salt will have invested in her business. She'll have a website, she'll have a presence on industry sites like Max Fisch/Dickie Virgin/Pandemos and the cream of the crop will advertise in publications such as DDI (Dominant Directory International.) Those who survive on chumming aol, yahoo or other non-commercial places where they have no valid "shingle" hung make me very leary and therefore suspicious of their validity as a competent professional who cares to invest in her craft and her business.

You wouldn't trust a proctologist who you picked up from craigslist to do your backdoor business, would you?

That really says it all.

Pros have actually invested in their business. The rest are amateurs trying to spin the unwary into ready cash. And those who have just turned pro do so through an initial investment, called "hanging out a shingle." And that means a website with recent photos of what you look like, a list of activities you cater to and a list of activities you don't cater to, a set of books, so you can keep things clean with the authorities and, usually, some place other than your client's hotel room in which to play.

One thing I do note in those websites that allow reviews of professional Dommes is a reoccurring theme: The photo on her website shows a much younger woman. This, coupled with "her photo does not do her justice," is a pretty good indication that, prior to any first contact, some kind of image is pretty much a requirement for a professional.

I don't necessarily expect photographs from people who are not pros. It's good etiquette here on CM to do that, but if all we're doing (and planning to do) is write one another a comment, I don't expect one.

Earth to presumptuous J/O OP My perspective, as a pro domina:

Being asked for a picture by someone without the jutzpah to post his own always irks me. As domme, even as pro domme we have the right and the privledge to choose our clientele, if your manners, your approach (and let me tell you the "I'm not usually into the paid scene but..." gets REALLY OLD), your tone can all get you ignored, or replied to in a very negative way. I do this in my spare time between two jobs because I do enjoy it, have all the equipment and the fetishware, etc. I do not have time to go in circles with someone via email, I haven't even had time to be on the message board in months, and funny, when I come back it's the same crap. Subs whining about everything under the sun on the Ask a Mistress Forum.

Get your own picture, and if pictures are important to you, choose a mistress who has them posted.

Thank you. Me being the Pro Domme in question here its nice to know someones on my side!

This 'man' approached me knowing full well I was a Pro Domme then bitches about me on a forum after sending me 3 mails in 3 days and because I didn't reply fast enough for his liking (not thats anything I care about) he goes blabbing like a bitchy school girl when he could have just asked me personally 'why can't I have a photo?'.

The reason he didn't ask me personally is I had already explained to him all my photos are on my old, broken laptop and the guy who normally takes my pictures is on holiday so I have to wait til tomorrow to get a few more done until my old broken laptop is fixed to get my pics off that one!

I couldn't believe the ordasity of that.........ooh Im not gonna swear!

And I don't have to send a picture if I don't want to, reply to mails or even acknowledge he even exites.

There you go my rants done with now

Back to the OP: Why would someone feel the need to defend themselves if they have neither done anything wrong, nor been accused of anything? Has any Domme been named on this thread? And don't forget, posts and messages all have a date and time.

I don't know whether to dignify this rubbish with a response. They say hindsight is 20-20 vision and so it seems, except for some - who shall remain nameless if they so choose.
