So, instead of swiping someone else's thread, I'll pose this question here.

I know I can't be the only person with a rather spiritual connection to BDSM - so, as a curiosity, can anyone else put into words the connection they have?

Being able to submit to someone is a very Zen experience - I don't try to direct or force it in any way. The sensations are just...swallowed, and they pile upon each other to fill me in a way that nothing else ever has.

Topping, however, is very centering for me. Instead of turning inwards, I turn outwards to absorb what's going on around me. I put out emotional 'feelers', so to speak, to make sure I'm guiding my sub into the right headspace, and the movements of my body become at the same time incredibly focused and completely automatic. The dynamic leads the scene for me, and that's how I've become comfortable with things. I don't know that I could ever Domme - or even only top, for that matter - anyone with whom I didn't have some sort of emotional connection, even if only friendship.

Any comments from the gallery?

It's very hard to put into words.  While I don't get a spiritual connection from just practicing BDSM. I do get a spiritual connection with certain partners and play.  I get zen like feelings, very emotional and a natural high.  It keeps me balances focused and pretty much complete.  Without it I feel in dismay.

For me its more of a natural order sort of thing and with that I find peace so it is in a way very spiritual .....meaning everyone has a role and things tend to run smoother ..rather than 2 people battling for the same spot....*I hope that makes sense*

Yup, feeling like someone else is control and I'm small, or one day submitting to my Husband as he submits to the Lord is very spiritual (Christian) to me.

There seems to be some raw animal androgynous component of me that understands female sexuality. That a submissive woman enjoys feeling of being physically and emotionally filled-stretched-overwhelmed. Naturally this gives me the feeling of freedom to sate these needs-as they dovetail with mine.

And we grok the dragon. Base-lust-desire-feasting. Charged, the dragon exudes it's elemantal energies upwards........the fields ramp up-we tingle with the eletrical overload-nuerons firing with increasing power and speed. It becomes so intense that we can feel it in the air around us, taste it. This is my guide during a scene.

My motions are anything but automatic. They are spontaneous-I torment, I tease, I touch......the reactions become my goal. Is it something higher? I really don't think so-I feel the energies are base-of the body. And yet, does not the body carry the mind,?

When she is overwhelmed by what I am doing to her-helpless to stop my manipualtaions of her body, mind and senses.......and I whisper in her ear...."you are mine" as I penetrate her-in that moment-can there be any doubt?

Perhaps 'automatic' was the wrong word - unconscious, maybe. I give up conscious control and let the energy of the scene decide.

I am fed when I help others find themselves, so spiritual work as a teacher/guide/helper is good for me. I'm very rythm oriented, so if we do primal drumming, I can go into a trance, which is a way I connect to the divine. But them both together, like for a hook pull, I come away high.

The art of a Top is to know in your gut-that the body is there as your instrument. All intruments that are human-have some commonalities-but thier inner workings can be mysterious-at first.

So I take my time in learning them, I am patient in my explorations.
Some nare more responsive than others-others yet are inhibited. They will need work in the "shop" to open up thier full potential.

This is where D/s is of the most sensual use to me-in things that are purely about control of the mind and body..And why I do some of the things I do. Much as one has to plug an eletric guitar into an amplifier to give it the strongest sound-many submissives need to have things connected-or disconnected to be the best that they can be.

I realize that saying this sounds arrogant, but it has been my personal experience. As out energies become more solidly connected, better attuned-the music becomes ever sweeter.

I consider myself quite spiritual, but my BDSM doesn't have a spiritual quality whatsoever.  Consequently, I typically avoid these topics like the plague.  However, I sat in on a workshop at this year's SouthEast Leather Fest (SELF) out of courtesy to a friend, and must admit that it was exceptionally well done, well researched and documented, and held my interest (which is saying something considering the topic).

The workshop was presented by Victoria Gayton (Vi Johnson's owner) and Nickie Stipe (Phd in religion, ordained minister).  If you notice that these folks are presenting on the topic at an event near you, I strongly recommend that you consider attending.

What if your a atheist. Instead of saying OMG you say that was great. The same feelings expressed in different ways.  What next are you going to put in your profile that you must have a religous experience if I make you feel good.

I'm sorry, if your question was directed towards me I simply don't understand it.  Would you mind restating it?

One of the annoying things about the server program-it does that automatically at whatever point in the thread you post.

Which is why many people preface general statements "fast reply"

I myself am Atheist. It does not bother me to hear or omg and such, actually if that person is willing to enter into deeper darker spiritual means i am not afraid of saying things such as there is no God here, its only me and you.

Ohh and as a side note a intresting fantasy would be acting as a god type of figure to a Mary madaline or even Lilith type of figure. I know im twisted but being Athiest also opens up limits.

I also feel that spirituality is important. While i myself dont beleive in any God or Goddess any more i have in fact prayed and searched many of them, in wich one can say thay have answred. That was a major part of my atheist adventure. I wasnt born Atheist but became Atheist through my religious search. I do believe there is a common area in wich we all bond to,  I think its more along the lines of people accepting and experiancing something they realate to as a spiritual, maybe something in our unconcious or the like. Anyway i do definatly believe there can be a spiritual experience had in any life style and it is sacred, its just not from a governing external force but something inside the person.
