Thought of another one - wedge. i still ask for a wedge and i get this look like i am some form of alien by the kids behind the counter of subway.  i just can't think of them as subs lol... or hogies - south jersey i think calls them that. Is calling a sub a wedge regional (east coast) or a term of the past (70's i believe)?

Neither... it is a very local term from a small area of NY state.

Skinner: Superintendent, I hope you're ready for mouth-watering hamburgers.

Chalmers: I thought we were having steamed clams.

Skinner: Oh, no, I said, "steamed hams." That's what I call hamburgers.

Chalmers: You call hamburgers steamed hams.

Skinner: Yes, it's a regional dialect.

Chalmers: Uh-huh. What region?

Skinner: Uh, upstate New York.

Chalmers: Really. Well, I'm from Utica and I never heard anyone use the phrase, "steamed hams."

Skinner: Oh, not in Utica, no; it's an Albany expression.

Chalmers: I see.

Out West here, a "wedgie" is what kids do to each other by pulling
someone's underwear up tight while they are still wearing their pants.

"Nightcap" anyone?

OMG, this thread is too funny...but I feel old since I still TOTALY  use all these terms like cool, and like, he is SO HOT, and that was really AWESOME, but it was a major bummer that it rained today.

I cannot believe that my vocabulary is so extensive but I still revert back to these words on a daily basis in personal time.

Yikes. OH well, everything old is new again, and vice versa.
