Well, duh, Real.  But if the grand scheme is "a better world for those who are left," what makes you think your approach will make the cut?

I think my approach has already been proven in the first 100 years.   What makes you think being viewed as adolf hiotler by most of the world for the genocide of the iraqis so we can give them "freedom" in your approach will gain for us in the grand scheme of things?

Thats when the constitution was still treated with reasonable respect.

Just to put it in perspective; wiping out 1 million iraqis is nearly 4% of their population which in american numbers would be the equivalent of wiping out 11 million of us.  Last numers were upwards of 500 tons of depleted uranium that we spread throughout the countryside that will cause physical harm to them for the next 8 billion years.

Ahh.   Happy Veterans Day, Real.  G'nite.

Sleep well Rich....

Goddess20 -> RE: Open Letter to the Government from an AWOL Soldier (11/12/2007 6:22:57 AM)

What has the war on iraq got to do with hurricane catrina?

I dont see the link.

On the video he says "Iraq is why catrina happened"

I'd love to hear that explanation.

farglebargle -> RE: Open Letter to the Government from an AWOL Soldier (11/12/2007 7:59:59 AM)

I think the point is that with all the resources and attention of the Federal Government focused on the issues relating to the occupation of Iraq, there weren't enough Federal attention paid to the issue of NOLA drowning.

Real0ne -> RE: Open Letter to the Government from an AWOL Soldier (11/12/2007 1:54:04 PM)

yeh I had to listen to it again and he mentioned that the focus was on iraq and so katrina did not get handled properly.

So what's up with all the sorta subliminal crap in this thing anyway?  Art???

Judging by his hair, he's been gone more than 30 days, so I doubt they'll still be calling it AWOL when it goes in front of a General Courts Martial.

It's an all-volunteer force.  This punk signed the contract, raised his hand and took the oath.  Fuck him.  I hope he rots in Leavenworth, unless they decide we need another Slovik.

Rich:
The "punk" spent a year in Iraq which is a year longer than you spent in Iraq.
The "punk" spent six years in the army which is a damn site longer than you spent in the air force.
The "punk" was a paratrooper...when was the last time you jumped out of a perfectly good airplane?
Comes a time in every ones life when they have to decide what is morally right.  It would appear that this young man has reached that point.
I applaud both his candor and his courage.

      Thompson:

That the sand I once had in the crack of my ass was not the Iraqi National brand is irrelevant.  It was close enough.

That he wants to whine about not having read the contract far enough down to see that it was an 8 year deal is not my problem.  I thought I was all the way back to being a civilian when I was informed that my prior skills had been deemed mission critical and that I had to get a haircut and study for a urine test.

Being that it is the Veterans Day Holiday, I'll restrain the inter-service crap about the intelligence of people who jump out of airplanes which are not broken, but I'll reiterate the point above about volunteers.

He broke his oath, he's a punk-ass bitch, and I hope the guards in Kansas go deaf when he cries.

GoddessMine -> RE: Open Letter to the Government from an AWOL Soldier (11/12/2007 3:32:35 PM)

Let's cut the crap, and get to the real issue at hand, hmmk?
Army = pogues and boots. Navy = little mermaids. Airforce = do they even exist anymore? Marines = drooollllllll.

Discuss.

luckydog1 -> RE: Open Letter to the Government from an AWOL Soldier (11/12/2007 3:52:57 PM)

Real, you are again showing your lack of basic history.  In the first hundred years of the USA we engaged in hundreds of Genocidal Wars.  Killed a lot more than 4% of populations.

What about the senate who broke their oaths and passed legislation, (the patriot act) without even reading it usurping our rights?

What about this administration who broke their oath by falsely taking us into war by terrorizing the american people with weapons of mass delusion?

What about them?  They broke their oath too.  Whats their label?

HybridMoments -> RE: Open Letter to the Government from an AWOL Soldier (11/12/2007 4:52:37 PM)

As an active duty member of the USMC I would like to reiterate the Marine Corps views in the immortal words of Samuel L. Jackson: "Yes they deserved to die and I hope they burn in Hell!"

US Military policy during that period of time in Iraq was essentially shoot to kill all suspicious personnel. Its a lot more restrictive now, and nearly everytime a weapon gets discharged by Americans, theres an investigation to ensure no stupid shit was happening.

Now, was what happened in Haditha morally right? No, but then again, there were insurgents in that town, they did fire on and kill US Marines, and the Marines did what we do best, and made damn sure to avenge our fallen brethren.

Marines are given express orders to destroy and kill only what any given mission requires, unfortunetly sometimes collateral damage occurs, and yes its a tragedy but sadly nothing can be done about it. Personnally, I would rather have an entire company fire upon a town if there were insurgents in it from afar then risk the lives of a single Marine. But thats just me and...oh...the entire Marine Corps position.

Aye, Sir or some shit like that.

Giving this punk an excuse like this, is beyond anything I could imagine. Do you applaud him so much that you are willing to share his punishment, whatever that may be when they catch up with him?
