Eating "fake-meat" isn't cheating at all. My moms been a vegetarian for a long time, and when she first started off, she had an iron deficiency. Just be careful as to what you're intaking in regards to nutrients, and make sure you're getting them from beans and other things.

Are you a Vegan or Vegetarian?

I'm 100% Carnivore. God, nature, whatever gave me Canines and a taste for blood for a reason. Herbivors eat the plants and Carnivors eat the Herbivors. Guess what? By being a vegan, have you considered the thought that you are a step lower on the food chain? Carnivors eat herbivors.

Food for thought.

I'm still waiting for the vegan BDSMer's who use leather explain what the difference is in killing for food vs killing for kinky play.

Vegan means no animal by products, zip, notta, zero none.

slaveboyforyou -> RE: Are you a Vegan or Vegetarian? (11/20/2007 9:48:59 PM)

If someone feels the need to eat vegetables exclusively, I don't have a problem with it.  I don't really understand this need among my fellow meat eaters to insult everyone that chooses this lifestyle.  Not everyone that abstains from meat is a nutty, PETA radical.  I love the sauce, but I don't give my teetotaler friends shit because they abstain from drinking.

FatDomDaddy -> RE: Are you a Vegan or Vegetarian? (11/20/2007 9:50:51 PM)

Well then... maybe they should not be talking about the inhumainty of killing for food while holding a leather candian prison strap????

MzMia -> RE: Are you a Vegan or Vegetarian? (11/20/2007 9:51:55 PM)

[sm=applause.gif] I am FAR from a peta nut.
I am not a fur coat protester by a long shot.
Have you seen the hormones they shoot into chicken and cattle?
When I saw how chickens were shot up with hormones to fatten them up, etc.
it turned my stomach.
I am not even going to go into the cancer link.
I stopped eating meat because I researched what is put into and done to the animals.
I stopped eating meat, because I don't want meat in my body.

We all make choices, live your life  FatDomDaddy and YOU can eat my share of pig, cow, fish, dog, cat, turkey, goat, rat, deer, snake, horse, chicken and whatever other animals you eat.

Just leave the damn tweety bird ALONE.
Don't eat tweety bird FatDomDaddy!

Well fatdaddy,

Maybe you can think of this as your one moment of the year, to feel morally superior.<snicker>

I've been a vegetarian for about 3 years. My mom & sister have both been vegetarians for over 10 years. We all still seafood. There are a lot of good veggie recipes online as well as ones that are easy to modify. Last night, I made a 5 cheese, 4 layer lasagna with Morningstar crumbles. Here's the link to Morningstar http://www.seeveggiesdifferently.com/

chicagochick -> RE: Are you a Vegan or Vegetarian? (11/20/2007 10:02:30 PM)

Not sure if others have pointed this out, but I have kinky friends who are vegans/vegetarians and they have completely leather free toys and equipment. There are plenty of other options out there if you don't want to use leather. Granted they are probably harder to find but they do exist and I know several people who own them exclusively. Not really interested in debating the ethics of it, but I respect people who make a sincere commitment to live their convictions.

MzMia -> RE: Are you a Vegan or Vegetarian? (11/20/2007 10:07:44 PM)

MistressHolly!  I love the morningstar meat substitutes.
I use it in my chili, lasagna and many other recipes!
Can you say delicious?

slaveboyforyou -> RE: Are you a Vegan or Vegetarian? (11/20/2007 10:15:03 PM)

MzMia I have seen it.  I live in one of the largest chicken processing states in the country.  I completely understand why people are turned off by eating meat.  There are butchers that deal exclusively in family farm raised meat and poultry, but they are few and far between.  There is also hunting, which is much more humane than factory farming IMO.  But I understand if someone feels disgusted about eating meat.  The problem is that people don't want to pay for good quality meat.  So we get the mass produced crap at the grocery stores.  For people that feel morally abhorrent about meat eating, I understand that too.  Like I said, I understand my friends that don't drink as well.  I don't agree with them, but I don't try to tell them what to do.  Any vegans or vegetarians that come to my home can be assured that I would accomodate them for dinner.  I have coffee, tea, and soft drinks for my non-drinking friends.  Live and let live, that's what I say.

Owner59 -> RE: Are you a Vegan or Vegetarian? (11/20/2007 10:15:47 PM)

Vegans have no problem finding the non-leather items they need. The vegans that I know, aren`t judgmental or looking for a conflict,so associating with leather using meat-eaters, isn`t an issue.

YourhandMyAss -> RE: Are you a Vegan or Vegetarian? (11/20/2007 10:18:11 PM)

I'm not a vegitarian or anything and I usualy like morning star too, however I opend a package of soy chicken and for one it looked yellow, and for two it tasted bad. so maybe it was to old or something, but that entire package was wasted cause it looked nasty and tasted bland and kind of nasty.

I agree with everything you said slaveboyforyou.
Many here thrive on just starting crap, so its par for the course.
Come sit next to me on the Domina couch.

RumpusParable -> RE: Are you a Vegan or Vegetarian? (11/20/2007 10:31:43 PM)

Oh, another point of help that popped into my head:  the cheese issue.

That's gonna be a fun one because, as far as I've been able to find so far, there just aren't a lot of good substitutes out there for melting cheese.

Tofutti makes Excellent "sour cream" and "cream cheese", and you can get packets of Chreese in mozzarella, cheddar and alfredo flavor... it looks a little weird when you make it but it tastes good.

Tofurkey is a nice Roast Beast for Thanksgiving, but can sell out early in some areas... plus the dinner pack comes with awesome stuffing and other sides.

Ener-G (sp?) makes a good baking egg replacer (though tapioca and other things work just as well as eggs depending on what the recipe is... you just need something to function as "glue" in the food).

Boca, of course, makes good Pretend Meat.

I don't eat much of the pretend's but they're nice for variety... and you can't go throughout life without some form of hotdog for camping, darnit.  -And honestly, even if I went back to real meat I'd stay with the Yves non-meat hotdogs.  They taste so much better and aren't made of leftover mystery bits.

Oh, one warning of things to look out for but may not apply to you:  Milk, unlike meats, is slightly addictive and most people are to some extent sensitive or allergic.  So it can be MUCH harder to stop having milk products in your diet than meat if your body is used to having it semi-often or more (and most folks' bodies are as milk is in all kinds of weird things you'd not expect or think of now).  Like said, you might have no problems, but if you do it's certainly normal and quite common to rule out meat and other animal-based food items first and then tackle milk slowly.

But in general just eat healthily in a balanced diet and it really won't be a problem once your habits realign.

MzMia -> RE: Are you a Vegan or Vegetarian? (11/20/2007 10:33:45 PM)

LOL Yourhand,
I am laughing, you have to be careful with a lot of soy products.
I hate to try new ones unless they are recommended or on sale.
Some of them do taste like crap, best to stick with the morningstar.
You are so darn cute.

RumpusParable -> RE: Are you a Vegan or Vegetarian? (11/20/2007 10:36:51 PM)

Oh, and to those that are mentioning how easy their friends are finding it to find non-leather BDSM gear:   help a domina out!!  I need sources for leather-substitute BDSM gear of good, solid quality!

There are many things that can be bought in other fabrics, but there are some things where leather or a quality leather-substitute is necessary... and sources of the latter seem impossible to find.

I know of veganerotica.com but where else makes high quality (or any, for some things) leather-substitue goods?  I'd love to have more sources!

YourhandMyAss -> RE: Are you a Vegan or Vegetarian? (11/20/2007 11:14:31 PM)

It's like one time I tried egg beater substitute for eggs, and someone told me they were nasty becareful and I'm like well lets try it, and ooooooooh yuck, that entire plate got fed to the dogs.

www.forbiddenexpressions.com

She stopped doing retail years ago and most does wholesale to a couple of high end resellers.  She is the one that made cuffs and collars for me but she is friend of mine.  Give her a try.

Cute recipie but it's missing the Italian Sausage and Ground Veal.

Anyways, I'll forever be addicted to thick cuts of Blood Rare Sirloin Steak, Smoked Brisket, and Roast Beef.

If anyone really likes that Stuffed Fake Bird for this Thrusday, Happy Thanksgiving
