Hello sweetheart.

It doesnt much matter what picture  is on a stamp. One can ask for a certain design on stamps- or no design.  So why is it a problem?

It bothers me that so many blue mail boxes are eliminated.

Also- I took some unused stamps back for return..there had been a form to fill out and get a replacement-BUT the post master said to re-use the stamp. I told him I had gotten a letter saying not to..

Nice post seeks....Good to see the op is unable to come up with something hateful on her own.  Geez, nothing worse than an unimaginative bigot.

Raechard -> RE: NewMuslim Stamp at US Postal Service (11/18/2007 12:33:34 PM)

This is actually quite funny because in the UK the royal mail says it alternates between traditional religious themes and secular themes each year. Someone wrote in to a paper and said ‘That’s rubbish because I’ve collected stamps since 1964 and they all feature that damn Christmas tree with a star on the top.”

Yes some people moan about a star being at the top of a Christmas tree rather than an angel.[:D]

I totally agree with this post.
I'd say more, but I can't for fear of starting up a posting war here on collarme.

Besides, you are confusing muslims (general term) with radical Islam (violent fanatical minority)...

Saying muslims were responsible for all those acts is about as accurate as judging all christians on the basis of the Spanish Inquisition.

and, as we all know...

"Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!"

Of course, if one wanted to survey the US public on their opinion about Islam in general, it might be an idea to offer Muslim themes on stamps and see whether the take up is greater than, equal to or lower than take up of other stamps. Such a means of survey might well provide better data than a questionnaire approach - being absent questions which can be framed in order to provoke a certain response.

The really scary thing is that Muslim converts are the most dangerous because they have such a sketchy idea of what the true meaning of the religion is and so are easily led in the wrong direction, Germany has a real problem with this I hear.

Some people like a reason to exist and if they can find a fight to join so much the better, that is half of the problem as I see it.

The US Postal Service is offering a stamp commemorating the Muslim holidays during the Xmas season.

REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of Pan Am Flight 103!

Now the United States Postal Service REMEMBERS and HONORS the EID MUSLIM holiday season with a commemorative first class
Holiday postage stamp. Bull!

Clipped for brevity.

For those who didn't see the snopes report, it is part of a 7 year old holiday celebration series.  If you're among the outraged, you missed it.

More air reaches the brain if the knickers are not so tightly wound.

I'll make sure to request Eid as well as Kwanzaa stamps this year!  I hate those fucking Christmas stamps.  I am not Christian so why should I be forced to use Christian stamps?!?  Get a grip!  It is a stamp commerating a celebration of a religion that isn't yours.  Who gives a rat's ass?  If you don't want the damn stamp, DON'T ASK FOR IT!

pinkie i thought you were more intelligent than this post makes you appear.

Pardon me but I AM a Muslim REVERT and my ''idea'' is FAR from sketchy. Yours however, may be as you earlier posted Catholics and Christians as different religions when Catholicism is a sect of Christianity. The term is revert in Islam, not convert. I can see that there are a few sensible thinking individuals here though not enough in number for me to be checking back in on this thread. Many of you are far more scary than any Muslim I have ever known.

domiguy -> RE: New Muslim Stamp at US Postal Service (11/18/2007 1:52:22 PM)

Perhaps it is a carefully thought out Government ploy to unearth all of those sleeper cells that our operating within this great land of ours.  Who else would possibly be interested in purchasing such a stamp?  (7rs old or not!)

Bush:   Only a terrorist could lick a stamp like that.  Time for the water board...Merry Christmas you Motherfuckers!!!

Sorry but they are so far from the same set of values they don’t count as being the same religion anymore in my opinion and the amount of struggles in the history of my country support my opinion that they are distinct. I don’t care if you are a convert, a revert or a pervert either it’s all semantics to me.

The term revert suggests to me that all people were initially Muslim and is a bigoted view in my opinion, but use that term if you like.

Yedi -> RE: New Muslim Stamp at US Postal Service (11/18/2007 2:10:47 PM)
