I am curious about this for one reason.

Recently, I have been getting a ton of emails asking a variation of the same thing:

"hey Sexyred, I noticed your profile has been up for some time now and it seems you cannot find the perfect Master, but I would be willing to play with you, NSA, so get in touch"

or

"I have been watching you for a few years and I don't understand why you have not found someone, maybe you are asking for too much"

Get my drift here?

I see no value in CM publishing how long one has been a member when it results in annoying emails that presume that length of time being on a site has anyting to do with success rate on said site.

Thoughts? or am I just bored on this rainy day and irritated at these emails.

well, the other end of the spectrum is annoying as well, just joined today, first post drama or nigerian queens who want a god fearing man......well, I like it.

New profiles old members.

If you are worried about shelf life there is nothing stopping you rejoining as quite a few do.

Anyone spending more time looking at when you joined and not necessarily reading your profile should just be ignored. They get annoying, yes, but so do the emails from the first day memebers who know everything there is to know about BDSM and tell you that they have been intersted in you for a while though they just joined that day.
If you want a good response for the annoyances, you could always have a stock answer of "Ive been here for a long time becasue I am picky. Emails like yours outweigh the worthwhile ones... which is why I am still here and looking."
Or something suitably snarky.
No matter what facts are or arent published, you are going to get someone who thinks they are "helping" by finding some little thing in your profile and talking about only that.

Not sure what you mean about shelf life?  I had to rejoin in August of 2007 but used my same photos and variation of my same sn. I only did that because of technical difficulties.

No one has still answered my question, if it can be answered at all.

I think my entire point here is that there seems to be no apparent upside to CM posting date of joining, whether you are new or old.

other than that, CM don't NEED to say how long, but they do.

I didn't NEED to say this, but I did.

no, I don't think that is correct, you can hide last online, but I am unaware of join date hiding

I don't know about the other side but you can do it here by ticking the option titled 'hide profile'.

Guess I've never really given much thought to what people think about my join date...and to be really honest I don't really care what they think. I've been on here a few years and been single most of that time....but it's not an indicator that I am somehow defective or undesirable. It's been because I have had one hell of a good time being single and I haven't had any real desire to change that. If someone comes along that just blows my doors off and gets me thinking along those lines....that's cool too. But for someone to think that there is something wrong with you and you deserve a pity play session based on your join date....screw all of that, just tells me that they are someone I don't really want to have an association with anyway.

I agree, Erin. I was just wondering what value CM thought that additional bit of information was for, when other things were optional to post.

I agree, Erin. I was just wondering what value CM thought that additional bit of information was for, when other things were optional to post in a profile. And, when you get alot of ridiculous emails to contend with anyway, if there was one less thing to to deal with, I thought I would throw it there.

I always thought it was a pretty good tool.  The people writing the way they have to you - do you really care what they assume?  Are they adding anything positive or productive to your life?  No?  Then ignore them.

If your question is - whats the value - there is some. Rons already given cool examples.
[If your question is - are you bored and irked - only you can speak for yourself.

Still not seeing the intrinsic value or cool examples you are referring to...

As for why I posed the question...no, I do not rank the annoyance I have over this high on my scale of problems, but thought it warranted asking the question as to what value it provided to members to know how long one was a member.

And yes, I do ignore these idiots, as I do other idiotic emails, but I am of the belief that no question is stupid unless it is not asked.

(well, with the exception of some of the questions asked on the forums here on CM).

Examples already given - first post dramas, scammers, stalkers, or sudden 'support' on forums.

It's just another tool or 'part' to assist in weeding out good from red flags.  You just take it and add it with other information you get as well - so on it's own, like anything, doesn't point to much, but with others things melded with it, it can help make things clearer.
