Jeff

I don't mean you specifically here...you just happen to post the sentence...

The only time that it bothers me that someone hasn't paid attention is when I get mail addressed to 'Mistress' or 'Sir' or 'Syr". I mean, can't people READ?

I dunno about creative- mine's pretty darn witty and full of linguistic, proverbial, and cultural amusement.

Yeah, yours is good...understated irony. Mine is pretty darn cool, too.

I believe my name is creative. Does that make me a fake?
Oh boy I hope so! It might slow down the number of messages I get.

First looking at my nickname. People are not sure what role I play. The name can mean different things for different people. I like it that way. It might just make someone click and read what I have to say.

i always wonder why people decide to change screen names
(look! It's a camille/jenny! )
i figure anybody with "69" in their screen name is either in high school or an idiot (JerseyKrissi69 gets a pass)
i'm still trying to figure out what a "RumpusParable" is, but i like the sound of it
Aside from that, i don't pay a lot of attention to screen names.
Question- if you can quantify the fakeness of a person, can you also quantify the sincerity of a pumpkin patch? i've never been able to figure that out, either.

I'm definitely not in high school((goes off to cry!!!)

I actually wanted to be

thelaughingdysfunctionalgreaterspottedwoodpecker

just to confuse people but it was too long. Besides I knew any profile with 'pecker' in it would cause problems, especially for me.

Then I figured that a profile name is a label, I only have one label 'stella' 41b refers to a bus route in Glasgow. Therefore my profile name is more creative than many people think.

I don't often pay attention to others user names, and I do with others wouldn't read so much into mine. I get several emails on the other side each week asking why I'm depressed. Where in my ID or profile does it say that I am? Childoftheshadow was taken from something I wrote a while ago, I liked it, so I use it.

Others; I don't pay that much attention unless they draw attention to their name.

Ya know? I just had to go and see. Yes, indeed, 'asshole' is not available. I tried. *chuckle* But, also, no profiles pop up for it under a username search, either. Perhaps they took it off the choice list?

Master Fire

LOL.  I had to go look too.  It appears that anything with ASSHOLE in it is off limits, but hey, ASS is available right now, as is DICKHEAD.  Get em quick before someone else does!

When I joined CM I didn't think I would ever be posting so I just used cjenny. It felt weird and didn't fit so I swapped to camille which is actually my name...so it fits lol.I have kept both profiles up and posted that I changed names, it wasn't for any nefarious or even interesting reasons.

lol ... that response gave me a good laugh ... thank you for that

as for fancy/creative nicknames being fake i would have to say that's not a very good rule to go by.  i have thought of changing my cm nickname before but i figured if someone is using just the nickname to judge a person without reading their profile then i wouldn't want to chat with them anyways so i just left it as is.

I don't spend too much time analyzing nics.  I found mine on a name generator because the good stuff was taken.

some screen names are out there just to be laughed at--as for Asshole--there is an asshole on b.com that very possibly had a profile here then deleted it..
my name came up because I was a single bi-fem masochist---like the elusive unicorn somany search for--was given tome by a b/f at the time...
theones that drive me CRAZY are the people you meet realtime that insist you use thier screenname--I knew a sadist that after 9months of friendship still calle me and left voice messages not using his realname, but his screen name

Don't forget that some of us use our scene names as screen names. I am known thoughout my community as Lady Seraphina, and do not give my 'real' - that is, my given name - to anyone. It just so happens that I was able to get it here as my screen name as well.

As far as other people's screen names, I do get tired of 'footworshipper789' and 'plzspankme123', but if they send me an interesting message, or have something thoughtful to say on this side, then I cease to care what their nick is.

My origional CM name on here was GhitaAmati...which is also my SCA persona name....which is the only name my Sir has ever given me so it actually means alot more to me than just a nickname....and besides lots of poeple know be by that name, both offline and on, in the BDSM scene, and in the SCA...so it works...hell, even my own mother calls me ghita more often than my birth name anymore.

There were some CM technical issues...and for a personal reason or two...I changed it last weekend to ghitaPVH (which are gee, who'd've thunk it, my Sirs initials).. the uppercase letters in my original name kept getting me confused for a Domme...who knows, maybe this will help keep the trolls away....
