So for once, a simple question…. Why are you here on the forums?  I don’t mean collarme, I only mean the collarchat forums.  Why do you post new threads here, or why to you respond to the threads of others?

As always, I’ll answer my own question.  As those of you who know me already know, I came to these forums looking to study the psychological aspects of BDSM.  Once or twice a month a question, typically psychological in nature, will strike me.  Il have my own answers to it, usually, but I’m interested to hear the answers and opinions of others.  So, I post it here and see the responses.  I don’t typically browse other people’s threads, and my responses to them have been quite limited here.

Best wishes to you all on your respective journeys, wherever they end up leading you.

M. Shibari

Interesting question.  i come, usually when insomnia has me in its grip, because the interaction is lower in intensity than IM or chat, and i need to try and stay up, not nap, in hopes of sleeping at night.

Sometimes i do read other P/pl's threads without commenting; it's usually very enlightening.

As one of the "ancient ones" gifted with the knowledge of the ages, it is my duty to share of myself with those lesser than I.  In addition, I seek one of those rare souls like myself born only every few centuries to carry on the legacy of ones such as myself.

Oh, and to get laid...

First and formost I'm here to learn, learn about the lifestyle and yes even  learn a few things about myself.I do this a few ways,I get views on other peoples life experience, the good the bad and sometimes the ugly, with that I'm able to pick and use that information as it pertains to me.Also through links that others post that lead to information sometimes pertinent, sometimes not,but so far always interesting enough to where I learn something whether I wanted to or not.Sorry if this made sense to nobody but myself, but you did ask.

I’m here for the spelling and grammar lessons.

Actually, I enjoy reading other people’s points of view; the range is incredible, from blinkers on to way beyond peripheral. Sometimes one reads things and has a light bulb moment, “Oh, I hadn’t thought of it in that way! How brilliant!” There is much to be taken with a grain of salt but there is also a lot of good food for thought.

I’m not entirely sure it’s a learning experience, reading these threads, as most folks tend to learn from their own personal experiences, regardless of knowing others’ experiences. But some threads help to shed light on various possibilities of motivations and reactions through others’ experiences, and that is always appreciated.

Also, some posts and responses are simply amusing and laughter is always good.

I am here on the forums to see if there are people who are quirky and balanced as well as kinky.  I enjoy reading about the different lifestyles folks adopt, live, and love in.

And best of all, I am (pleasantly) surprised when I happen upon someone whose point of view can make me challenge myself or my thinking.

i come on here a lot to read the posting because i am new to the lifestyle and though most of the posts seem like the same old shit to most of you. For newbie’s like me it really helps to get at least an idea of what the lifestyle is about. i am not saying i take everything written here as gospel but it does give me some ground work to start my own exploration.

Well... it's a way to kill time, and now I am hooked and trying to get rid of this stupid vanilla cone.

Ahem, I am just in search of like minds, and to throw my two cents in...

I enjoy chatting with likeminded people about a variety of topics.

In the back of my mind I have the vague hope of meeting a new playpartner, but it's not something I take seriously or devote a lot of time to.

I'm here because some of the darker parts of Myself are escaping and I want to find a way to express them properly. More importantly I'd like to find someone to express them with.

Its entertaining, at times informative and sometimes I find a person I want to get to know better. I sometimes like to be a sarcastic bastard (especially after a bad day at work), always somewhat skeptical, make friends and see how other peoples minds work.

Having an answer, or a different viewpoint, to someone who asks a question.

And poking the monkeys sometimes. I like doing that.

I don't poke monkeys.. they throw poo and I don't want to deal with their crap...

I've been lurking on the boards for a while.  I enjoy reading the posts and knowing that I'm not alone and that there are others who share my values and desires in this lifestyle.  I also read posts of people who don't share my vision, and it gives me pause to consider theirs.  I may not agree with someone, but I don't have to judge them or devalue them either.  Also, it gives me a chance to exchange ideas and experiences with others.

Though the message board can be a bit cumbersome for me to plow through at times, it certainly has its value!

Because I am a social networking whore. I love meeting new people and making friends. I figure some day I'll be at a kink event out of town and I'll recognize someone and then we'll have something to talk about!
