I second the creepiness.

Bingo.

Where IS all the love anyway? I think APGAH should tell us.

GoddessMine -> RE: Man on a mission or a**hole with an excuse? (11/29/2007 7:52:07 AM)

I bet you EPGAH has secret fantasies of Mexican women AND men berating and spanking him.

Revolting!

GoddessMine -> RE: Man on a mission or a**hole with an excuse? (11/29/2007 7:56:27 AM)

Well, seriously, it isn't that far-fetched. One of Judith Butler's core arguments is that we secretly or unconsciously desire what we hold base.

AAAAH! I just figured it out - EPGAH is full or part Mexican!!! All of this hatred, inanity, rambling - it's just one huge performance to outwardly, "safely", express his innermost, self-hatred!

People, give Me the gold already.

What do you think it says about those of us who don't debase anyone on the basis of prejudice and hatred?

I think EPGAH is a French secondary school biology teacher; I had one just like that.

EPGAH -> RE: Man on a mission or a**hole with an excuse? (11/29/2007 8:05:29 AM)

As to not being an indictable offense, that is correct, just coming here illegally is a "minor" offense; it's what they do once they're HERE that's the problem...The best way to stop them from causing problems here is to check everyone who enters, but illegals literally circumvent that process...We have an immigration backlog dating back to 1997! I agree that's too long, but we can't just reject people out of hand, that would be discriminatory! The candidates don't always tell the truth on their applications, so there is extra time spent investigating what's real and what's a "reality adjustment" (AKA lies!)
As to the "creepiness": Do any of you have a garden? And if so, do you weed it regularly, and keep it free of bugs and other parasites? (With or without a few chemical "cheats" [;)]) If you let it go, your garden will become a mess of weeds, and the plants you WANT will wither and die...Similarly with your own body, if you get an infection that your body can't deal with, you can get a chemical cheat called an "antibiotic"...Or a club of any kind has bouncers, from the obviously muscled-up thugs at nightclubs to the suit-and-tie "security" of country-clubs. Heck, you might have your own security, if you have a party, and some unwanted group crashes it, steals your food, and tries to wreck the place!
Keep the good, kick out the bad...filter and discriminate, based on past and present actions...What's so creepy about that?
I admit, an inordinate amount of attention is on Mexicans, but guess who the majority of illegals are? And who is waving what kind of flag in whose street?
If Americans tried that in ANY other country, we'd be at least jailed; at worst shot!

I think it says that those who don't debase anyone on the basis of prejudice and hatred are making their best attempt at understanding, critical thinking, and equality.

Holy fuck, EPGAH, man, you're twisted in a way that is beyond kink. You just compared people to weeds and bugs and amoeba, do you realise? Get help!

EPGAH -> RE: Man on a mission or a**hole with an excuse? (11/29/2007 8:17:37 AM)

Well, think of it: America's "only" been around 231 years...In that time, we've managed to make astounding technological progress, especially in the medical field...
Mexico has also had those same 231 years to make their country the way THEY want it, but they haven't, perhaps because it's easier to invade America and simply reap our benefits...?
Do you not have a door on your house? And if so, do you let in anyone, or do you choose who you let in and who you don't?

Well, if you lived alone in the whole territory of the United States, I would get your 'house' analogy.

However, you are not alone: there are other bugs than you on your territory, other americans, and aliens, foreigners, strangers, like me. You are entitled to compare an entire society to a tiny dwelling; but it doesn't make any sense.

PS: I don't have a house.

PPS: nor do I have roots: I am not a tree.

PPS: MsBearlee: it's a pleasure.

California even enacted a highly-controversial (and ironically named) Proposition 187 that would cut off public-funded welfare and education to illegals and the children of illegals. Governor Davis stabbed the Americans in the back when he repealed it,

The courts threw out 187 immediately.  Davis dropped the appeals when he took office.  Big difference

What you need to do, EP, is find some good books on history.  Comparing the development of a nation of enslaved indigenous people, to one that followed the path of extermination and re-colonization is completely bogus.

Real0ne -> RE: Man on a mission or a**hole with an excuse? (11/29/2007 7:09:28 PM)

yep welcome to the feds sticking their nose in.  Thats what happens when you have federal "entitlements" ca loses it sovereignity hence cant exercize the most effective methods availiable to resolve the problem.

EPGAH -> RE: Man on a mission or a**hole with an excuse? (11/29/2007 8:17:56 PM)

Well, they had to get the money somewhere...Unlike corporations or even the Federal Government, states "aren't allowed" to default on payment...Or at least that's how it was reported in Newsweek...Something on the order of $183 BILLION in debt, if I remember correctly?
But Davis's betrayal of the Americans was a BIG part of his sudden Total Recall, and the reason they installed Governator...Who has talked a big game about getting tough on illegals, but can't and/or won't DO anything...Shutting off the Gravy Train would be one of the top 10 best ways to discourage illegals--IF they could KEEP it turned off!
Luckily, though, there were enough Americans awake to defeat not one, not two, but THREE Amnesties! (Bush's Amnesty twice, then the DREAM Act, for those not keeping count)
However, our laws are a somewhat convoluted mess, and while it is illegal to rent or sell housing to an illegal (harboring), there are lawyers happy to twist our anti-discrimination "Fair Housing" laws to include illegals...(Heck, if they can do it with Amendment 14 of the Constitution, starting the Anchor Baby Syndrome, why would/should lesser laws be incorruptable?[;)])

Actually, as TheHeretic pointed out, Gray Davis did not "betray" the people of California.  The law was ruled a violation of the state constitution and the governor at the time had a bigger mess (energy) to clean up than wasting everybodies time trying to appeal it.

The Governator was elected in a Rovian blitz on the tail of Gray Davis overseeing our state being shorted power in a newly deregulated energy system.  He was forced to sign deals with the devil to keep our state with power, and ended up being wildly unpopular to the citizens of this state.  What Gray Davis discovered is the governor has precious little power to actually do anything to fix major problems, but the governor gets blamed for it anyway.

What the Governator discovered after being elected to being our governor is the laws in the State of California grant precious little power to the Governor.  He is forced to deal with a legislature that is probably one of the most acerbic and confrontational and (happily) unresponsive legislatures in the United States.  His first attempt was to try to break a few unions, which failed, a few "emergency elections" which lost.  He figured out well into his first term that he was elected for his pre-Rovian populist stances and his movie popularity.

He got re-elected for the same reason.

For those playing the home game, The Governator is still doing his job for two reasons a) he is wildly popular and b) his position doesnt really have any power to screw things up.

Close, Sinergy.  RealOne was correct in pointing out it was the Federal courts that blocked 187 (the broken clock rule is my guess).
