Actually, as TheHeretic pointed out, Gray Davis did not "betray" the people of California.  The law was ruled a violation of the state constitution

Close, Sinergy.  RealOne was correct in pointing out it was the Federal courts that blocked 187 (the broken clock rule is my guess).

It's in the California state constitution that they have to give money to illegal aliens?
If The People of California voted for that 187 it should have been put in place.
Sounds like "judge shopping" by "activists.
Funny that foreign nationals who break all of our laws want the law "obeyed" when it involves "benefits."
Why can't U.S. Citizens ignore laws they don't like and just obey the ones they like?
And, it's not a "minor" infraction to sneak into the U.S.
If you enter other than through a "legal port of entry" it's a Federal Felony.
(The Feds don't have "misdemeanors.")

Nothing if they're in the country legally.
But, if we had 10 million lawyers sneaking in from India and lowering the "billable hour rates" then we'd "certainly" have to put a stop to that now wouldn't we?
Why should our own citizens have to compete for lower pay rates with people who are not supposed to be in our country?
Just because they don't posess college degrees?
I'm educated and fairly well off financially but just because I am doesn't mean I don't want to see working class people get a fair and living wage in this country.

Ok, all I can think of to say about Epgah is, this is one crazed and confused individual.

I have personally seen the down side of illegal’s from Mexico using the systems set in place. I worked at a bank, our check cashing policy set in place by corporate for the fruit packing companies local farmers and other such as this was to cash the checks no questions asked if they came in the same day it was cut. No ID’s required.

There was an older Hispanic female customer that banked with us, she was an illegal, yet she had several forms of ID, and at the first of each month she would bring in five SSI checks, three DSHS checks. The SSI checks where due to the fact that her illegal husband had been killed in a work accident under a fake Social Security number and she and each of her children received benefits. The DSHS checks where for her and two of her minor children and the other two checks where due to the fact that two of her daughters both under the age 18 had children. All this income was substantial, but to top it off she and three of her kids all worked for a local fruit packing company, making a fair wage, (approximately $2 more than minimum wage at the time) same pay rate as the legal’s working there. In 1994 her monthly income was near $5000.

So yes, I have seen the abuse of our systems; however she paid taxes, filed yearly income taxes, and claimed all income. I know this as she applied for a home loan with me and part of the requirement was tax returns for the last five years. (She brought in 8 yrs worth; every one since she had come to this country.)

On the other side of that, I can not begin to think how horrible the way of life is in Mexico. I have been there and felt truly saddened for the poverty stricken majority that lives there. Yet I don’t feel that we should have an open door for all those who wish to escape Mexico and come to America. However, as a resident of Washington State I can tell you that most of the jobs that are being done in Eastern Washington by illegals are jobs that almost no other person will do. The back breaking harvesting of crops from apples to hops are jobs that I have heard those on welfare, (Caucasians) openly state they wouldn’t do, since it doesn’t pay that well and they get free money.

Most of those that follow the agricultural harvesting are hard working honest people, just trying to make a better life for their selves.

Having said that, I can also say that they are a drain on the local schools, since hops harvest late into October, many of the children must attend class. Forcing the class size upwards of 35 students, requiring a teaching assistant that speaks Spanish/English in almost every class, yet the school Districts can not get funding to enlarge the schools since most of the onslaughts of students enrolling withdraw before the end of the school term.

Most of the local Hospital emergency rooms are overwhelmed with uninsured illegal immigrants, because a Hospital must provide service and none of these illegal’s have a health provider. The State Health Clinic’s have became the secondary stopping place since most now require ID of some sort, even then trying to get into such a place for treatment would be daunting to most as the main client is Hispanic, poor and uneducated, making any who would seek out service there unwilling to attempt trying.

I have no idea how to enforce the current laws upon those unwilling, unable or to lazy to implement illegal immigration into this Country. I have seen first hand the rushing of the boarder from Mexico into California. If it can’t be stopped there, how in the world is an inadequate understaffed boarder patrol going to slow down the problem?

Epgah speaks of forcing English on all those who happen to speak multiple languages or in the Hispanic community mainly Spanish.  Where he gets the idea that America is a strictly English speaking Country is beyond me. Hey I am a Native American, which means my Ancestors are from here, we didn’t emigrate from another country.

I speak fluent Cherokee, some Yakima and a tiny bit of Apache. Oh and also English and have a working knowledge of Spanish. I have no problem pressing #1 for English, since no company offers my native language of Cherokee. I wonder why since Cherokee is the largest tribe in America? Am I being discriminated against, for crying out loud, where is my equality as an original American? Since I am calling from America, and am a “Native” American shouldn’t they assume I would be speaking some form or dialect of my tribe’s language?

The very thought of forcing sterilization on someone so that can’t use a loophole in our system to stay here makes me shudder in repulsion. Arming the boarders for the soul purpose of killing any that try to cross, is insanity. It is along the lines of marching, an entire nation of people across the country because you want their land. Its simple mass murder wrapped in a in a catch phrase, “Eminent Domain.”  In this cause it would be, “Illegal Immigration” I mean how others dare try to come to this country, it was stolen fair and square over two hundred years ago.

Yes illegal immigration is a drain on communities, but I think that we single out the Hispanic population because we assume it is easier to spot them. When was the last time that you heard a foreign accent from some Caucasian and assume them to be illegal?

Just my rant on the insanity that spewed from Epgah, some people!

Jesiul, don't the banks in Washington state have to report such crimes to the FBI or whoever?
Using phoney ss cards or even just a phony ss number is a *federal felony.*
Surely the management of that bank would know that.
And "corporate" would surely know that doing those kinds of things is *very illegal.*
If you worked there and this was "company policy" and you witnessed it then you have them over a barrel don't you? [:)]

"Yes, $200k per year, full benefits, company car and 8 weeks vacation would be very nice to start out."
"Or, .....we could all go down to the FBI office and have a little chat."

For all those who have been attacking EPGAH, perhaps with some reason.
With his permission a quick explanation.
He had several friends killed and was left for dead himself by "illegals".  No further details concerning the outcome of this are necessary and will not be shared.  This does not excuse his behavior, but perhaps makes it more understandable.  He has written to Me, and, hopefully he is working on placing his personal upset and anger in a better place so that his opinions will carry less vitriol and more weight.

Wow.  And yet I'm so not suprised by it.

mstrj69 -> RE: Man on a mission or a**hole with an excuse? (12/4/2007 5:13:21 PM)

To me illegals are here for the same reason car companies and others have moved business to Mexico, South America, or even outsourced to China.  Cheaper labor cost means more in the company's bottom line.  Only way to hurt the company is not to buy from them and reduce the bottom line by the amount they increased it from the cheaper labor.  They will either get the hint or outsource more and lay off more U.S. workers and then their bottom line will go down again as taxes will go up again to pay for the extra benefits that have to be paid to the citizens without a job and less money to spend in their stores.

We have been over this before, Popeye1250.

There is this little legal concept embedded in the Constitution of the United States which states that a person is innocent until proven guilty. The person is not an "illegal" anything until they have been tried and convicted.  Until then, they are not an illegal anything, as much as you would like them to be.

Secondly, a doctor takes an oath to provide care and succour to the ailing and the needy.  They do not take an oath to prosecute crimes against the state.

EPGAH -> RE: Man on a mission or a**hole with an excuse? (12/4/2007 7:23:33 PM)

Remember, jesiul, America was conquered fair and square...Stealing implies some kind of stealth...Like, say, what the illegals are doing to us?
If Mexico wants to steal our country, they are free to declare war on us...It worked out well for them in the 1840s![;)]
Bilingual has been hijacked so it ONLY means "English and Spanish"...What about people from "all those other countries" who come over?

If it's discriminatory not to offer Cherokee, tell your favoirte companies about it, and see if they do much more than laugh?[:D]
Me, I feel discriminated against that they don't offer German or Japanese[:(]...Or that many jobs now "require" people to learn Spanish so they can deal with "undocumented" people!

Let's go through it again: Dutch, Germans, Italians, Irish, even Asians(!) want America's money and job-opportunities so badly that they can take the time to learn English...Even when you call the outsourced jobs (Who are on the other side of the planet, and as such, have presumably a reduced opportunity to learn English), they somehow have learned English--China's even headhunting American professors so as to learn English faster/better!
Hispanics want America's money and job-opportunities so badly that they force America to learn Spanish! While it sounds funny, it's sadly true!

Also, at risk of more or less repeating what mstrj69 said, if the illegals weren't here, the Americans they displace and PUT on the public teat would be hired, since wages would be raised to meet their demands...The old saying is, "Pay a man enough and he'll walk barefoot into Hell!" Of course, with modern reality shows, it should be changed to something more outlandish, like, "He'll strip naked, pour gasoline on himself and light it if you pay him enough...Women, of course, demand more, but then you run afoul of the FCC![;)]"
But in all seriousness, gasoline and food prices have been going UP steadily, not down...Could that be due to the demands of an 8-digit number of extra people who shouldn't be here, no matter how cheaply they work? And yet, you just claimed they bring in as much as any legal...so they're not so cheap after all!

Also, if you knew a given customer was illegal, why did you not report it? Sympathy, or just your subtle way of revenge against America for perceived slights over two CENTURIES old?
Remember, America allows a few MILLION people in LEGALLY per year...We just have a very long line...And does this justifiy some people skipping the line and stealing resources and care that should be going to people that can follow the laws?
I like to think not...What about you?

BTW, have you read about Continental Drift, and Ice Ages? According to that theory, Native American "Indians" actually DID immigrate from Asia (which accounts for certain physiological similarities), but it was so long ago, that they consider themselves natives now!
Therefore, it's not about race, it's about national identity, right?

Sinergy: If they cross our borders WITHOUT PERMISSION, they are illegally here, much as someone coming into your house WITHOUT PERMISSION isn't an "undocumented guest", he/she/it/they are burglars! The argument, of course, is whether we should show compassion and lose money and jobs and then whine about the economy, or kick them back out, which is cold, but the only real way to make laws work is to provide negative consequences...The problem with the negative consequences so far is that "just" deporting them, they don't learn, and they pop back in! How can we kick'em out and KEEP them out?

Noooooooo....  Sinergy, GM was speaking to Dusty!  And, I happen to agree with her comments, too.

The aforementioned bigot that we are discussing here (who is ‘waiting approval’ again…his posts are THAT full of hate), has apparently told somebody he’s been hurt.  Well, if that ‘fact’ is anything like the rest of those that he pulls out of the air to support his vile messages; I’m not buying it.

I’ve been hurt, I’ve seen others hurt…and yet nowhere have I seen such hatred from so young a man.  His goes beyond the pale…to the place where skin-heads and KKK live; to the place where hatred is so deep, so contemptible…there is no sense to it.  It is beyond reason; it’s evil.

That's my OPINION,
Beverly

Beverly,

Thank you for clarifying.  The problem I have with hateful posts is best embodied in the quote.

"Choose your enemies carefully, for you will become them."

So I generally let the person rant on until the silence makes them uncomfortable and they go away.

I think that EP should direct his anger more constructivly towards his congressman and senators.
It is after all *our government* who is at fault here.
There is absolutely no excuse that there are 20 million illegal aliens in our country.
That is Dereliction of Duty plain and simple.

This is true, except our government does not do their job because small business owners and large corporations pour millions of dollars into campaigns for election in order to ensure a continuous supply of cheap labor.

Politicians make laws to further the desires of their constituency.  Get corporate money out of politics and illegal immigrants will be a memory.
