SLUT...In the vanilla world, usually used to describe a woman that will perform any natural or better still an un-natural sex act on anyone at any given time EXCEPT the guy calling her a "slut".

slut = sexually liberated, unafraid (of) tittle-tattle

: )
and so it has a positive meaning to you, rather than a negative conotation...........interesting...
thanks : )

That was my humble effort to reclaim a (sometimes) nasty word.

I can actually see it as positive or negative, depending on how it's being used.

I do get that, dcnovice : )  really..
my best friend and I banter that term around towards each other.....we mean it playfully..to rile the other about their frisky sexuality..
might not be the "definition or meaning" most use it as
but its how we mean it..
like an endearment..with a little razzzzzz on the side..
  I'm going to tell her your acronym  LOL  its great
she IS sexually liberated, unafraid and  well I dont know what a tittletate is LOL but its cute and so is she  [;)]
me?  I'm a virgin and pure as the driven snow.
<cof>

thanks again.

thetammyjo -> RE: The "S" word (11/23/2007 3:36:43 PM)

If I use the word "slut" I mean someone who is very choosy about who they have sex (or other activity) with as long as they get that desire meant.

In a DS situation I'm referring to how my partner is behaving at the moment. I never use it if my partner is not OK with it.

So Fox is not a sexual slut but he is my attention and bondage slut and I make sure to use those extra words to clarify.

From someone I am not on good terms with, it usually has a negative definition.

From someone with a fistful of my hair making love to me, or spanking me,  its got a sweet sweet definition...

ain't that the truth!..you just said a mouth full ( uhm no pun intended )

thanks : )

tanzur -> RE: The "S" word (11/23/2007 3:40:17 PM)

I have always viewed the word slut as a term of encouragement and endearment from my partner.
When spoken by another to me other than my partner; the word itself has very little impact. It’s just another four letter word.

The word itself is a sexual term; meaning simply that I enjoy sex and am willing to enjoy it on a regular basis with a great amount of enthusiasm. Of course, this is only how I view it.

There are no negative feelings associated with the word when I used it; nor when I am called such.

I do not find it different for a woman to say the word to me; nor do I find it different when it is said to a male.

Males most definitely can be slutty; what’s more, it’s sexy as hell when a man enjoys sex as much as a woman

BlackKnight -> RE: The "S" word (11/23/2007 3:40:21 PM)

Hell she performs a sex act on anyone, including the one who calls her a slut

hmm
so is that why my own personal "definition" of the term changed ( meaning more positive ) in the last decade ???
[:)]                       [:D]

wait...don't answer that, on second thought

thanks InkedMaster  for your response.

that's a very different take on it.
so you use the term for one who is choosy/selective sexually  rather than promiscuous...
Interesting
thanks!

daddyncherry -> RE: The "S" word (11/23/2007 4:03:54 PM)

What does the word mean to you?
When being said by someone i don't know or when i was younger it was a really bad term. It made me cry alot when i was growing up, especially since i wasn't one. Then, it meant someone who would sleep with anyone and everyone and who probably had....When said by a stranger it is just a sign that they think something like that about me from my appearance and they really don't matter anyway, they don't know me.
When said by my Daddy it means that i am willing to do anything and everything to please him, even if it means something nasty or dirty by typical standards....and not only that i would do it, but that i would enjoy doing it (which adds to the sluttiness)

Does it mean a negative thing when you use it ( call someone that ) ??
i don't typically call anyone that, knowing how it might make them feel. If i do call someone that it is in a joking manner to someone i know...and just addessing the fact that they are a woman who loves sex and approaches it more like a man would (historically speaking)

Does it feel negative when you are called a slut?
i already pretty much covered this in the first question but i will add...it is a term of endearment when said by my Daddy and something i love to hear him say and to say about myself. It is a very freeing word and YES i totally resemble that remark [:D]

Does it feel different? less acceptable? > when a man calls a woman that or when a woman calls another woman that? That would all depend on the man/men or woman/women using the term. If some other dude, not my Daddy or someone in the scene were to refer to me that way i'd take it as an insult-because their meaning, most likely, would be vastly different that when my Daddy says it. Also, tone makes a difference. ...If one of my friends called me that it would be in a sweet way and there would be no hard feelings, it would be a joke and one i might have even started...if i called someone a slut because she slept with my best friend's husband then it would be a different word entirely. (i guess that would make them homonyms? Words that sound the same but have different meanings lol?)

Can men be sluts too?
Sure they can....the term just isn't as generally used toward them and the context is usually that of sexual prowess but sure...a man who sleeps around with alot of chicks would be a male slut.

CalifChick -> RE: The "S" word (11/23/2007 4:29:12 PM)

It's always had a very negative connotation for me (with one exception below).  The only thing worse to be called would be "cunt."  However, I read something today about the difference between being called "a slut" and "my slut."  Something I have to ponder now.  It may change things completely.

My one exception is that I admit that I'm a .... garlic bread slut.  That question sometimes people ask when they can think of nothing else to say, "if you had to choose, what one food would you pick for the rest of your life?"... the answer is garlic bread.  No, I'm not a garlic bread snob, I'm a garlic bread slut.  Any garlic bread will do... toasty, crispy, soggy with too much butter, extra garlicky, cheesy, it just doesn't matter.

Yeah, I've seen that too.  In that context, I think it's presumptuous and quite rude and stupid, frankly.  I think just because someone is female, that is the criteria for being a "slut" in that thread.  Pathetic, in my opinion.

I don't generally use it but, if/when I do, it's usually in more of a humorous or comical way and not necessarily negative.

Not by my Master.  But in a thread like the one mentioned above, yes it would be offensive because some nitwit on the internet who calls me a "slut" without knowing anything about me except I'm female is tacky and wrong.
quote:

For some reason, I don't really take it too seriously when one female calls another a "slut."  It usually just means they are jealous of her or she's flirted with the other one's man or something.

Yes, I think it is.  I remember joking with a female friend once about what a "slut" I was in college and in the years shortly thereafter.  We made a very specific distinction between "slut" and "whore."  I have never had sex IN EXCHANGE for anything.  I simply did it because I wanted to.  Thus, I may have very well been "slutty" but never a whore[;)].

It's just not a negative word to me unless some halfwit who doesn't know me assumes just because I'm female I'm also necessarily a slut....................luci

...your post made me chuckle..
  garlic bread slut...cute

I lovingly call my doxie a "food whore" ...lol  ..is this similar ?

the word cunt.
ohhh geez
now see...theres a word I can find nothing playful or positive about.

even if Master ( who can call me anything he chooses or desires) called me a cunt > I would most likely cry and cumble apart...of course I would still answer and obey [;)]but tears would be streaming down my cheeks....just being honest.

like Erin said tho'  ...only we have the power to make words powerful..  so I guess I am guilty of making that one way too powerful & ugly to use...or hear used.

i don't care for 'slut' as a term of endearment, but i am not collared.  It is possible it could take on a different meaning within the context of a D/s relationship.  i don't use it to insult women.....i think trying to demean S/someone by reference to their sex life is wrong.  If i deteriorate into name-calling, for some reason i use 'bitch'.

InkedMaster -> RE: The "S" word (11/23/2007 4:44:33 PM)

Okay okay, lemme put on my serious shades, for just this one time dammit.
Its a term of endearment that I use with my slave. Whether I choose to call her that or "gasp" worse than that by societies standards, she knows it is out of love, the connection and bond we have allows for that type of verbal intimacy. Now I'm not asking her to blow the entire Penn State football team, or even the 21 year old pocket protector wearing brain that spanks it to algebra periodicals. I'm not asking her to sell it on a street corner so I can stay home and rebuild panheads. It's a word between us, one of many, that denotes she is as precious to me as my bike.

velvetears -> RE: The "S" word (11/23/2007 4:47:53 PM)

Slut in the vanilla sense is a put down.  It is meant to be a degrading term. In the bdsm sense it is a term of endearment and is said more in line with telling a woman she is sexually free rather then promiscuous.  i associate slut with promiscuity (in the vanilla sense) and also a slut doesn't care who she sleeps with its the act that matters more then the person - she'll sleep with anyone to get off.
