By admitting that you can't change things, you have become a proud member of the Status Quo Boosters Club.

I haven't surrendered yet, which is why I see the advantage in knowing how the system is supposed to work.

As I said, as long as they pretend, I'll pretend.

PRETENDING you're a Constitutional Republic can have some benefits over NOT pretending. I figure fewer college kids are getting shot dead at demonstrations and shit. Part of that's the lack of a draft, so it's easier for people to feel disconnected. Another good reason to have a draft, but I envision a much different military structure than the totalitarians.

Remember: never throw shit at an armed man, and don't stand next to anyone throwing shit at armed men. There are limited exceptions, but they mostly involve preset ambuscades for the pursuing troops, and are outside the scope of this discussion.

Think of it like the worthless Federal Reserve Notes. As long as I can get someone to trade me coffee for them, I'll go along with the fiction.

Here is the follow up news story.  The cop is in the clear.

It's still going to court I expect. And citizens may have a different result for that asshat cop. I mean, one million plus people are upset over this small matter and the asshat cop has been receiving death threats. So maybe some government safety panel isn't the final word...

...and when all else fails, the street has its own way of handling things. The final check in the system of checks and balances.

Does how the system is supposed to work always start with you capitulating on almost every substantive constitutional point and betting the farm on some tiny point of law that no one gives a shit about?

Fuck, give it up.

If you intend to win, you need to be at least as creative in your interpretation of the rules as are they that are aligned against you.

So the cop "teaching him a lesson" with a taser is bad, but "the street has its own way of handling things" is OK.

It's nice to know that everyone is on the same page here - it all comes down to who has the biggest stick.

I'll bet the cop doesn't look over his shoulder once (since he's a cop, he probably is used to death threats) and I bet the kid hands his license over one heck of a lot quicker now he has driven through Utah.

Yep.  The Multiverse is in balance.

I don't claim that this is a society of either civility or laws any longer. The cops have to respect the law or there is no law to respect. So I hope that a lawsuit will remedy this situation. If not, there are options.

This cop stepped well out of line in my view. He wanted to give someone a "ride" on a taser, now maybe someone will give him a "ride" of some kind also. Instant karma. I don't pity him at all. That guy walks with a bullseye on his back.

Works for me.

The kid got  a jolt of electricity - and the cop should be killed for it?  Is that what you are saying? Doesn't seem quite equitable, now does it?

One thing is for sure, this is not good PR for police.

Cops like these, make things tougher for the professionals.

I'm still trying to figure out what the big deal is to hand over your driver's license like you are supposed to when asked by the police.  If the kid had done that in the first place, there wouldn't have been an issue.  I hope when this little dick goes looking for a job, they see this video and don't give him one.  THAT will be outstanding Karma response.

"Doesn't work well with others"
"Not a team player"
"Can't follow instructions well"
"Has authority issues"

Well that was pretty foolish for that to happen. I mean, have some common sense.

This from the same SMC that wants the government to come rushing to his aid like a nanny, with cops and lawsuits,  should he ever be affronted by a teenage cashier, or 80 year old store receipt checker.[8|]
