I am a Pro Domme & a slave.  I don't think it conflicts either.  It takes a special person for me to submit to.  During work though, it is mostly about fulfilling fantasies for people.  I see lots of newbies to the scene who want to "test the waters" a bit.  I tend to orient my sessions to the different types of play a sub enjoys, but I have things I enjoy doing that I am always sure to include.  I guess I fall into both categories you mentioned, but I would say that mainly I see "weekend warriors" or "dabblers" who are looking for an outlet for some kink - not to be in the lifestyle 24/7.

with out morals you will make bad judgments and get into life long troubles Morals guide us in how to walk in a very none chaotic life. other wise you would be like a car with out breaks. While the ride might exciting the crash in the end is not.

Stand out side the glass. Look in the store. See everything in a bigger picture. then you can see cause and effect what everything dose. Like i have always said if  you look at things in a black in white political correctness. It is what It is. For those that live in a water colored would when they all blend to gather they all make one color Grey.  to me that dose not sound very cool

I confess that I am utterly baffled by submissives who do professional domination.   Some of the most devious and creative sadists I have ever met have been submissives, I am not saying a sub can't be a good player.   I just don't see how it works.  I don't even want to express my confusion any more, so as to avoid inadvertently insulting anyone.

Are there any pros out there who demand tribute...and then do whatever you feel like doing?  Make a corporal punishment guy kiss your feet for an hour or have a foot fetishist stay still and be your shibari model?  I don't know if that really would bring any repeat business...but maybe there's a middle ground where the Pro is still in control of everything...just sort of focusing it around the client's fantasies?

The job is certainly more often service topping, in my opinion, but that's not running it down.  I have a LOT of fun service topping, be it a client or a friend, when I'm in the mood for it or they're asking for something I enjoy doing.  So long as I am getting something out of it, I'm happy.  That's part of what negotiations are for, to make sure (pro or not) the scene will be worthwhile to all involved.

To the portion I quoted:

This doesn't particularly strike me as being dominant... rather just plain rude (which of course some like).  Unless there is a honest and good reason, I wouldn't do a switchup on that to even  personal slave of mine where I was clearly dominant...  Tell them earlier that we're going to do X that they love, make arrangements, take out toys if necessary -and then say "never mind, you're going to do X instead!" just to pull the rug out from under them.

Er, no.  Not my way at all, pro or personal.

Well does it baffle you that a slave can also own a business?  Raise children?  Drive a car?  Plan and execute an event?

What we DO is not who we ARE.  Being competent and enjoying controlling a particular situation doesn't take away from one's submission.  Heck most slaves LOVE being competent and providing good service.

A pro simply provides good service as a top.

And on that note I think it would be very inappropriate and bad customer service to make an agreement for exchange and then go off and do whatever you want after the exchange is made.  If you've agreed that they will pay tribute and then you will "do what you want" then that's fine.

LATEXBABY64 -> RE: Pro Dommes and Service Tops (11/25/2007 2:47:11 PM)

you see i keep seeing the word service. a prostitute does that to. so if though you might be either a service top or prodomme . you still doing the job of a rent a ho providing service for monies. Now if you want to declassifiy something for your own mind set go ahead but I think joe public sees it that way  .

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Pro Dommes and Service Tops (11/25/2007 2:53:18 PM)

Nowhere do I imply that submissives are incompetent people.

By that definition, a CPA or a DJ are also prostitutes.  Climb back under your rock.

(Ew, sorry LatexBaby, my response was a bit ugly.  That struck a nerve with me.)

Could be you never know. DJs are wanna be radio disc jokeys. I have lots of friends the work in radio and TV and film. any how the point of it is trying to make something normal when it is in fact already been pr oven. thousand year old service.
People are always trying tio reinvent the wheel why whats that saying a spade is a spade.  anything that deals with sexual intent or there of which anything kinky is associated with.  Then you have professional rent a ho. a lot of it resides in grey areas

Perhaps "adult entertainer" would be good general description for a pro domme. If you think of actress it will be clear how pro domme can be anybody in life outside work.

Where is this coming from?

I understand the concept of switching perfectly well.  What I have difficulty with is a person who is submissive that expresses dominance ENTIRELY via professional work.   Why choose that route only?   Why not simply have personal submissives while also submitting to someone else?

Ah I see.

I guess it's just a matter of what feels right to us.  I don't understand women who go through college to get a job knowing full well they want to have babies and stop working.  I don't understand why most lawyers choose the path that they do because of all the sacrifices it requires with family and friends.

Just a matter of priorities and having the drive to do your job well.

Off topic,

But I would NEVER, EVER want to be a radio DJ, radio DJs unless they are on a top 5 market (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco and Washington DC) and on the morning show, syndicated or drive home are BROKE!  MOST club music DJs on the radio are there for the commercial:  It's part of a resume to get gigs where the real money is. I did radio when I was a (very broke) youngster.

Latexbaby,  where you get your ideas and theories I'll never know but please only speak on what the hell you know you are talking about.
